Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven!
99

(82 -> 99)

It has been just about a year since I listened to Godspeed You! Black Emperor's Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven for the first time, and truthfully, I found it to be underwhelming upon first listen. I particularly enjoyed the highs of Sleep, but I found the rest of the album to "fall by the wayside," and I can distinctly remember clumping Static in with all of the meaningless experimental prog pieces (I like to call them stupid rock) like Pink ... read more

Tame Impala - InnerSpeaker
89

I want nothing more than for Tame Impala to make another fully-fledged psychedelic rock album along the lines of Lonerism or InnerSpeaker

Pond - Man It Feels Like Space Again
92

Clearly the most notable psychedelic rock album from 2015

Tame Impala - Lonerism
96

Given my previous opinions on Currents, I was not expecting to get any enjoyment out of Lonerism. Boy was I happy to be disproven in every way. Lonerism has become one of my favorite albums of all time and it has proven itself to be infinitely replayable. Looking at the tracklist is insane because any one of the songs could be my favorite on any given day. Today I'm feeling Apocalypse Dreams but tomorrow that might be completely different.

Frank Zappa - Hot Rats
89

When I'm in a coolest person of all time contest and my opponent is Frank Zappa:

Camel - Moonmadness
90

Camel continues to impress even after the slight disappointment that was The Snow Goose.

Van der Graaf Generator - H to He Who Am the Only One
88

"What if we make an incredible prog album but replace with the guitar with brass?" Was maybe the best question Peter Hammill ever asked in his life.

The Moody Blues - Days of Future Passed
88

Released in November 1967, Days of Future Passed by The Moody Blues is credited by many to be the very first truly "prog" album, whatever that means.

This album is really comforting to listen to, it feels like the score for a cheesy Christmas movie, (but not a Hallmark one) in a good way. That being said, it's really hard to quantify for some reason, maybe due to the orchestral feel. Every song sounds relatively similar— with a few exceptions— but it never really gets ... read more

Fishmans - LONG SEASON
100

It's hard to imagine a single piece of work as good as this. Long Season is incredible on the first listen but there's always something new to experience here and this honestly breaks my scale.

Genesis - Invisible Touch
66

Not all that bad. Domino is incredible

Genesis - Abacab
57

Abacab!!! 😁😁😁🎉🎉💃💃🎉🎉😁😁😁
No Reply at All!!! 😁😁😁🎉🎉💃💃🎉🎉😁😁😁

Who Dunnit? 😟😟😟🥀🥀
Another Record 😟😟😟🥀🥀

Genesis - Genesis
80

Yeah this fucks, Illegal Alien isn't all that bad despite the very questionable name and That's All is probably my favorite Genesis song post-Lamb.

The Who - Quadrophenia
89

You haven't experienced music until you've heard Doctor Jimmy / The Rock / Love Reign O'er Me.

The Doors - The Doors
91

No bad songs to be found, this is one of the very best psychedelic albums of all time.

Steely Dan - Aja
91

holy FUCK this is peak

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
29

I've somewhat come around on a couple songs here but this is an AWFUL album with nearly no redeeming factors. Oh Comely I'm pretty sure is my least favorite song of all time.

The Beatles - Abbey Road
89

This album is phenomenal but the medley isn't quite as good as everyone says it is

Arcade Fire - Funeral
59

Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) and In the Backseat are the only ones here that do anything for me. The former is one of my favorite songs of all time.

The Alan Parsons Project - Tales of Mystery and Imagination Edgar Allan Poe
88

Possibly the most overlooked album I've listened to. Everyone deserves to hear To One in Paradise at some point

Camel - The Snow Goose
71

Camel's quick stumble between prog classics

"@ooevv just didn't really stick with me all that much. I think it's objectively good but I feel the production is kinda dated and I don't feel any desire to return to any of the songs (even though I do enjoy them). I think this one (although I don't think I'd rate it so highly anymore) takes the sound of disintegration and makes it more post-rock esque and I enjoy the production a lot more. I should def return to Disintegration though, maybe it'll click"
