Radiohead - Kid A

This album is incredible. I love how it’s so ambient it can almost blend in to the background and yet it’s so musically complex that it withstands intense listening. If ok computer was a vision of a malfunctioning, perhaps future society then this feels like a journey through a warped and jagged earths, millions of years later, with each song being echos heard bouncing between the mountains of the cover, or whispers from a dark mist. It truly feels post-human in each song with some ... read more

This album has some INCREDIBLE highs. There are also some lows that drag it down for me but it’s still a really great album that I can always listen to. I also gained a much greater appreciation for REM as a band after hearing about how they influenced many of the great bands of the 90’s who went on to change the course of the way music would sound and be perceived forever. I found out they were really influential in American indie bands even though they themselves wouldn’t be ... read more

This album is really good and deserves the hype it gets. When I first heard it I didn’t love it but after several listens it grew on me. It feels like a collection of notes and experiences of a dystopian society with each song being from a different perspective or about a different aspect of the society in their world. I do think some songs do this slightly better than others but I still love all the songs here and it is near perfect in my opinion. I would say if you don’t like it ... read more

This album is a big step up from their last album. I really, really like this. It has some really really great songs like fake plastic trees that almost wouldn’t feel out of place on ok computer and then tracks like my iron lung, that took a while to grow on me, but once they did sounded excellent and when you know the metaphor and context around this song it becomes ten times cooler and better. There are also just some really great songs that have less metaphorical or social weight or ... read more

I feel like I went into this album not expecting it to be good. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I actually quite enjoyed parts of it. It sounds very different to what I’ve heard of their later music but I think that on some songs the style really works here. I really like stop whispering and it grew on me more when I re listened to the album and the closer blow out was also really good. Overall, most of the songs were ok - good with some moments that were great

This it too hyperpop for my taste. I still quite like it and I can still see what they’re doing here is innovative but it feels like they only truly go insane for only like the last 30-45 seconds of each song. There are still great songs on this album and it feels adventurous but I think 10,000 gets explores and warps more genres and does it in a way that feels less cringeworthy whereas here, especially in songs like ringtone, it feels just weird and kind of cringe.

ICECOLDBISHOP - GENERATIONAL CURSE
82

This album shows a lot of promise. There’s a clear influence from people like Kendrick and JID in the vocal intonations and the flows. It feels fairly rough and ready in terms of style and I think the hooks are getting to JID level of catchiness in a good way but if bishop can build on this album I am very exited and expect big things

R.E.M. - Automatic for the People

This feels on par with out of time to me and I’m a big fan of both albums. This one is more consistent with less highs and lows than out of time for me. There were still highs but less lows and this album is really good and I really really like some of the songs, especially nightswimming and find the river.
Edit: after hearing more about bands in the 90’s like Radiohead and nirvana who changed the course of music forever and how they were massively inspired and influenced by REM I ... read more

Before I heard this album I had listened to some of their most popular songs at the moment and I thought I had a handle on what kind of music they made but after hearing this I don’t know if they ever have or ever will have a home genre. It is ALL OVER THE PLACE in a good way. It is also INCREDIBLY weird with tracks about frogs and crisps. But it all just about holds together, I think. To be honest, when I fist heard them I wasn’t even sure if I liked it, it sounded like a melted ... read more

Mac Miller - Circles

This album is gorgeous. The lyrics are so calming and relaxed. The production is minimal in the absolute best possible way. The links with swimming tying the albums together are incredible and the way it musically forms a circle is so satisfying. It is the best possible send off to Mac with this album feeling like he’s finally found resolution in his problems and his life. This is also represented by how honest he is with his vocals as he sings for most of the album.

Mac Miller - Swimming

This album is so beautiful. Every song is so good and the instrumental of each one has a quality almost as if it is underwater, making it an incredibly unique and thought out concept and album. The circular nature of the project is also flawlessly exicuted with the last and first song connecting in death and rebirth. The outros ion many of the songs are also heavenly.

Louis Coventry - Nature
77

A good album, showing a good starting point to work from on potential future projects, a couple of the songs weren’t quite as good as some of the others but most are good with several standout ones that feel more complex.

Car Seat Headrest - Faces From The Masquerade

A really great live album of some of their best songs

JID - DiCaprio 2

Why is this rated so low? If there’s one thing you can say about JID it’s that he CANNOT miss

Danny Brown - Quaranta

I thought this would grow on me lots with a second listen but it didn’t really. It is still really good though as I enjoyed it massively first time, unlike many of his other projects

JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown - SCARING THE HOES: DLC PACK

Excellent addition to an incredible album that has some songs with similar energies to the main project and some that are a really nice change of pace for them.

This album is really really great. The group have said they envisioned this project as more a collection of horror stories than an album and the feel of both comes across really well. There are more story focused tracks like story 7 or the show and more album based tracks like La mala ordina and then there are also tracks that feel like a great blend of both like my personal favourite track, and the album opener, nothing is safe. The instrumentals of these songs/stories really intensify the ... read more

"I would agree on most points, what I found so interesting on ILDMLFY was the introspection and usual Peggy lyrics contrast, the crazy new production style and the focused, tighter tracklist than many of his other albums. But I think the criticism of stagnation isn’t as important, he’s experimented with new elements on pretty much all his last albums across his career, so I think him not doing so for the first time is ok, I’m happy to just have more of the same, even if it isn’t as good as lots of what came before."

"This is yet another really good review, I’m not massively familiar with their previous eps, having only heard the first one once before listening to this, but I was personally very satisfied with their take on post punk post rock, I was really hoping they wouldn’t end up copying BCNR with the loud, sudden dynamic shifts to end their songs, so I loved the shorter songs either having a soft slow build or being fiery and brash throughout, and as for the longer songs, I found the mixing to be great, being grimy and muddy on something like look down on us, but then delicately balancing all the elements equally at the end of reconcile, and I loved how the length allowed them to morph or shift into sonic phases. Also I preferred the sax to before."

Also, don’t feel pressured to do more reviews than you want to, I always appreciate the depth and personality you bring to them, but if you need to take time for yourself thats far more important."
