Late to the party. Incredible. Sounds almost premordial. Makes sense that this is based around indigenous worship music. Otherworldly and blue lips inducing. Nothing sounds like this.
I just got put on to this today. Tough as nails. Appalachia shall not be defeated!
This album is fine. It's popping up everywhere, but I'm not getting the hype tbh. I did like Bug, but other than that, everyone's favourite track (no pun intended) feels regular degular to me. Maybe it'll grow on me because i did like Jackie Down The Line, and they have a solid sound. But idk, not really as mindboggling as I usually like or honestly as introspective and lovely as I would have hoped.

Kendrick really was not your savior. The weeping and mourning of doubters, executives, and fans of "the other side" echo throughout this album, as the reverence of angels pours through the speakers and disintegrates anyone ... read more
Listening in 2010: Wow, these Radiohead guys can't be stopped!
So dark, mysterious, and the perfect fusion of some of their strongest alternative rock moments paired with their deep love for sparse instrumentation and layered electronics. Coupled with a litany of political messaging and parables about oppressive empires that use misinformation and art to manufacture consent around preying on the weak and vulnerable, this is an underrated album in Radiohead's discog and art rock as a ... read more
Hip-hop has always been punk, been rock, been jazz. And looking at the trajectory of other rap records of the past three years, across subgenres, we are probably at the start, if not already in the middle of, a great, long-awaited celestial alignment of the three, and a well-deserved return of these soundscapes to the black artists that founded them.
But still...none of those records that come to mind sound like THIS. All of Tyler eras are coalescing into something new, rugged & refined. ... read more
FROM THIS HEIGHT, AT THIS SPEED, DOWNHILL, CAREEEEEEENINNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!
Lately, I've been obsessed with the phenomenon of personalities and characters in rap music. Iconically, DOOM branded himself as the villain, Jay-Z the businessman, and Kanye the genius, although that "genius" has skewed more to the side of Elon than Disney as of late. Chaz Hill, or should I say, E L U C I D's persona, still remained a little elusive for me. I was first introduced to E L U C ... read more
Old school flows, new pop foundations, a whole lot of black excellence! Big Tyler influence too. All in all, a lovely collection of songs, excited to see where these kids go. I feel like a kid again myself!
Love this record. It's not his best, but now I feel like his whole discography is his best. Each phase of Denzel's artistic progression fleshes him out more, and I'm glad that he chose to double down on the potently vicious energy exuding his vastly underrated BLOOD IN- BLOOD OUT mix. ULTRA SHXT's is a great hommage to Lord Mischiveous and he doesn't let up since. G'Z UP, WISHLIST, SKED, HOT ONE, BLACK FLAG FREESTYLE (THAT MEXICAN OT!!!!!), banger after banger ... read more
Pure unadulterated Denzel. Don't listen to it as an EP though. It's one song, or mix, and I wish more of the chaotic energy here appeared on King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2.
does a sentence like, "this is his most experimental album yet" make any sense at all?
5 major albums in, peggy's made enough music that you can see differences in style, taste, and focus as they evolve, change, or erode. At his best, he's a masterful chameleonic producer/rapper centurion, capable of grinding up and sliding on the most obscure samples into something menacing, cold, and industrial on the naked Veteran, something warm, ethereal, and hopeful on AMHAC, ... read more
underrated does not even do it justice
this cover is nuts, and just off the name I had to listen. Wow. Lush, ominous, and exciting. Hype Williams and Dean Blunt would be proud.
