review just off the name and concept, rating hard as hell
oh shit it's Shakira
I feel like a lot of the initial difficulties might be centered around connecting the psych rock transformation, to the Yachty we know that put psychedelic production back into mainstream rap in the first place. This is definitely an extremely stark detour that might have people wondering how much of the album is Yachty and how much is the people he hires & puts in the band with him. I would totally encourage those people to get off their high horse and enjoy the ... read more
I feel like something is just not landing with the closing tracks for me. But those first 4 tracks sound like David's gotdamn secret chord. Impossibly beautiful euphoria.
recent aoty drama has inspired me to write that "I Watched The Film The Song Remains The Same" is one of my top 20 songs of all time, and it sucks that Mark sucks, but I think pieces like this remind me that anything can be redeemed over the wide expanse of time. Not at all saying that consequences aren't real, that victims will get over anything, or that people deserve to be reinstated completely as if their misconduct and assaults never occurred, but that behind the seems, time is ... read more
He so edgy for this.
Best Tracks: Everyway, Natural Information, Last One At The Party, Planets, Bowevil, Lily
The crackling thunder behind "Raydar". The blocked phone call on "Sisternem". The family bar fight on "Crack Sandwich". The beat beating your ass on "Can't Punk Me". The Ja Morant line on "Dance Now". And the sung eulogy on "Kody Blu 31". Just some of my favorite moments from the best rap album of 2022.
Multiverse Benzino. Billy Woods raps like he doesn't actually exist. But these bars will haunt your ass.
Retroactive Review. If there were more cuts like "Half Manne, Half Cocaine" to properly balance the soul style Madlib and Al championed, and the more trap heavy focus of $$$, this would be the definitive Freddie Gibbs album.
I wish he kept some of the singles in place of the weaker tracks like the Offset or DJ Paul cuts. Not all beats are built the same either and it feels definitely less concise than his previous projects. But it's clear he was saving the best for this album.
dude, with some more planning and intentionality this could've been a GREAT album, but as usual, Drake lets the beat rock and kinda drones out into the distance for most of these tracks. Still better than CLB imo, squeaky mattress aside
wow I haven't written a review on here in years, but cornrow kenny walked so caretaker kenny could step so here I am
Let's get it out of the way now, this is the most stripped-back and minimal album Kendrick has ever made, which will easily be the most disappointing aspect about this album upon future listens for me, especially after the powerful Marvin Gaye sample on the emotional, high concept yet instantly digestible The Heart Pt. 5. In contrast, there are maybe 3 samples on the entire ... read more

On July 14th, 2015, Nick Cave’s 15 year old son, Arthur, was out hiking with a friend when he plummeted to his death off the side of a cliff. He left behind a mother, a brother, and his father, at the time 58, who had made a career of analyzing the morbid, of detailing demise and despair. Nick Cave makes music like Stephen King perhaps would; arguably his best LPs, even in title alone, Your Funeral, My Trial and Murder Ballads are prime examples of his mastery of the morose. But now, for ... read more
Dang, I'm not sure what to say.
I always knew the album would bring everything together in a more significant way, but now I'm hoping it isn't gonna be such a mixed bag. Honestly, the 80 goes to the awesome music video, initial listening high and that magnificent beat, actually probably one of my top 5 favorite Brockhampton beats (JABARI, ME PADDY, I pray these beat tags appear more often!) Wish I could say the same for the vocals, which are weirdly mixed, and oddly organized.
For example, ... read more
If this is a disappointment, can't wait to see what 100% looks like
also y'all one note reviewers saying it's not dark enough need to stop putting peggy in a box
This is fun but now what? The bars are becoming less and less memorable. Sure the beats and videos are always great, but its feeling more and more like this boyband is loosing that pizazz and it factor that really made it memorable. This song ultimately feels pointless. I mean, if Matt's verse was an actual hook, it would already be 10 times better!!!!
