this album is kinda boring comparing to the other old swans albums. i know its more relying on atmosphere and stuff but most of the experience doesnt feel worth it because it feels like its building upto something but almost never does. there are some great moments in this album tho. helpless child and the sound are peak and some other songs similar to them are pretty good too. but theres also some shitty songs. volcano might be the worst swans song and thats a low bar dawg. yeah pretty ... read more

this album is horrible but not for what makes an album normally horrible.

in the past few days i have been enjoying stuff from swans but i really didnt like "to be kind" and i thought to myself would i like modern swans if i listened to them now? well. barely. i mean this album is better than to be kind but its still very hard to listen to.

this is the swans i like. this album is both very emotional and powerful. it doesnt drag on nearly as much as their other albums and the songs feel compact. i think there are a few kinda boring songs and thats it otherwise its brilliant.
