Aminé is the lovechild of Pusha T and Childish Gambino. I mean that in the best way too.
He has some really nice vocals and playful bars, such as
“Eritrea, Ethiopia, Habesha utopia
Bitches gettin’ cold, then niggas grab your Patagonias on” - Roots
“I fade niggas like barbers
I got more pressure in my palms than Arthur” - Pressure in My Palms
His pen game isn’t the best but he has some pretty memorable lines.
Production goes from smooth trap beats to ... read more

Where was this album a year ago?? Why did I overlook it??
Fucking hell, man. This album is a trip. The story of the album is a psychodrama session between Dave and his therapist. Each song has its own story and there’s some deep cuts on this. Streatham is about Dave’s upbringing, Black is about his experience being a black man and what it means to be black, and Lesley is an 11-minute ballad about a pregnant woman that is in an abusive relationship.
The beat switch on Psycho? ... read more

More Life is a 22-track hodgepodge. Despite its length and unevenness, it’s not a bad listen.
Now, this is not the smoothest mixtape/playlist/whatever this is called. With More Life, Drake experiments a little, playing around with genres such as grime, trap, lo-fi, dancehall and R&B. What I like about Drake is he fits into these genres well, but it’s obvious he wears his contemporaries on his sleeve. Like...why does he have to use an accent on the songs with the British rappers? ... read more

I’m gonna be honest, I only heard two Pop Smoke songs before he passed, GATTI with Travis Scott and Welcome to the Party.
I liked how his music stood out, he was influenced by UK drill and even grime.
I was skeptical about listening to this because posthumous albums lately have been absolutely horrendous, with the exception of Mac Miller of course.
Unfortunately this doesn’t sound much like Pop Smoke. This sounds very commercial and if you played me this without telling me who it ... read more

On my third listen now and this has grown on me a lot. I still think this is an okay effort but the highlights are very high. It’s a shame we lost such a talented individual at such a young age, and the fact that he was only a couple months older than me; it’s made me think twice about my actions since his death.

Best: Come & Go, Stay High, Tell Me U Luv Me, Man of the Year, Conversations, Bad Energy, Hate the Other Side
Worst: I Want It, Blood On My Jeans, Life’s a Mess
