There are sounds and concepts in here that certain rappers/artists/musicians have been trying to pull off for years, but always just slightly miss the mark for some reason or another. Here, Little Simz pulls off all of the said sounds and concepts with incredible ease, all while supplying us with a captivating and unique sound of her own. She's brilliant, and she's my new favorite.
BEST TRACK: Introvert
The faults are eerily similar to those I felt with 'Notes On a Conditional Form' last year--If 30 minutes had been cut off this album, and if the artist didn't so easily get ahead of himself--it could've been some of his best work.
Sure, Nothing But Thieves still fall into their overly-produced trap in Futureproof, but their raw energy harnessed within this track far exceeds a majority of their last effort's more forgettable cuts.
Saying that there's a remastered version of this coming out, I figured that I'd give it the score I'm comfortable with. Still can't decide if this is a 100 or not. If you skip Feeling Good, that definitely helps.
