Benches - Wishful Thinking (At Its Best)
70

Actually quite surprised with this LP.
First of all it's some classic indie rock, not very original but the instrument playing is amazing and the vibe is actually quite unique. It has some undeniable great songs like Angry Lizard Noise (a bit too good for the album tbh) or Queen Of Hearts which has a very cool riff and songwriting.
Unfortunately this album suffers from something a lot of indie albums suffer of and it's that it gets quite boring towards the end. The start is miles ... read more

Interpol - Our Love to Admire
87

Yay Interpol !
Our love to admire is what i think is an underrated album. Not their best but with some incredible bangers with some of the best songwriting from Interpol. Unfortunately it's sometimes overshadowed by some mediocre songs, sorry but some songs on the album are really meh without any substance and it's sometimes quite boring. But the high of this record are VEERRY HIGH. Some great lyrics and themes. Some bass lines that kick asses, great guitar playing and amazing drums. ... read more

Panchiko - D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L
73

Let's be honest here.
It's a tad overrated. Yes it's good and if you know the story behing the band it has a special vibe to it even if i think that some people are rating it with a very good note BECAUSE it has an incredible story. The thing is that it was actually average and very honestly sometimes a bit awkward (especially in the vocals sorry Owen but you've done better). It does have a lot of strong points : Sonically it sounds very nice with a lot of good riffs and ... read more

Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool
100

Ok so this one is actually really fucking incredible.
Probably not the Radiohead album with the most bangers but it has some of the most complex instrumentation and songwriting of all their albums with so much ideas perfectly implemented. It's without a doubt the one with the most emotions. It's just so good and emotional. It made me cry 2 or 3 times because of the music in itself but also because of the lyrics and the delivery and performance of Thom Yorke. This guy vocals are ... read more

Geordie Greep - The New Sound
91

Hell yeah, this is some great music man.
Wasn't familiar with prog rock and jazz fusion but damn it was so nice to listen to.
Some complex drums (amazing), some really good instrumentations and production in general and great vocals (saw some people saying they didn't like but how? It's gorgeous and reminds so much of Isaac Wood (Heard some similarities between "Ants from up there" and this album it was very fun)).
Some songs on this album are masterpieces and gives ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - GNX
69

(first rap project i review lol)

After having a really weird year in terms of rap albums, Kendrick offers us an album full of west coast bangers.
Love the samples used in this record, lot of variety while still keeping it coherent.
Lyrically it's just as good as any other kendrick's project. Didn't feel like it was transcendent but it was still very good.
Producing is top notch (lot of producers on this one even tough i tought there were less), the feats are also very good (the ... read more

The Microphones - The Glow Pt. 2
95

Simply mind blowing.
This is my "Aeroplane Over the Sea", felt such a connection with this one on a personal level. Normally not the biggest fan of folk especially when it's this loud and saturated but for some reason i just loved it. I tought this genre was a little bit limited in term of sound variety but The Glow PT.2 totally proved me wrong. The imperfections make it so good, it sometimes sounds a bit sloppy but in a good way. The ability of this record to make you feel ... read more

The Backseat Lovers - When We Were Friends
88

Didn't really wait anything from this record because i knew it was gonna sound like an average indie band of these last years. And while i think it was right to an extent i still thinks it's a veerrryyy good album.
First of all the producing and mixing is really clean and it's just so pleasant to listen to, it's not boring in this aspect and that's very cool.
Next i think the vocals of Joshua Harmon are very pretty, an enticing smoothness that can go into the raspy in a ... read more

CAKE - Fashion Nugget
75

This one is a recommandation from my bass teacher .
A very enjoyable album. Felt a little bit long even for a 48min record but it has some undeniable bangers. Two things struck me in this: the bass (I will survive has an incredible bassline) and the trumpets that sometimes bring this alternative rock album into a jazzy dimmension, especially towards the end of the album.
Love the vocals which reminded me of your average punk band of the 90's. The lyrics are really nice but quite ordinary ... read more

Delta Sleep - Twin Galaxies
92

Delta Sleep is my first introduction to the genre of math rock and whaaatt?? Didn't expect it to be this good? First of all (and i know it's the point of math rock but) those drums rythmics are gorgeous and just straight up art. So groovy. The guitars and bass sounds like your average rock band but it sounds so damn good. The vocals of Devin Yüceil (Lead singer and guitarist) are so good ! Love his screaming and the smoothy-raspy of his voice. Love the lyrics and the whole vibe ... read more

Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
89

Brilliant record from Arctics Monkeys. It's their debut album and for me it's, to this day still their best. The stories told are about youth, their night life and romantic stories. Alex Turner lyricism is as sharp as ever, realistic, simple and last but not least : really fucking horny. It's just so nice to listen to such simple rock with those energitic and angry guitar riffs. It sounds so cocky yet so relatable. Quite sad they never topped that even if "AM" was ... read more

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
97

92---97 : Nevermind all the songs are amazing, i love this album so much.
Almost perfect.

In this album, Arcade fire does a critic of consummerism and the way Americans tends to live in general trough a smaller thematic used troughout the album and in the title : The suburbs and the trouble they give to people who lives inside, the isolation and the difficulty to get out of it. It's a record filled with nostalgia and a great maturity to be found within the lyrics. Love it. The ... read more

Interpol - Antics
89

First time listening to a full Interpol album and it's one i wanted to listen to for a long time. I gotta say that i love it ! What immediatly struck me was their sound on this project, it feels so large (don't know if what i just said mean something but i understand myself lol). Love the guitar melodies and the guitar tone. The vocals reminds me so much of Joy Division (in a good way of course). Sometimes the lyrics were a bit blurry for me but overrall they're complex and ... read more

James Marriott - Bitter Tongues
74

First error when going for a listening session with a James Mariott project is thinking: "i'm going to listen to youtuber's music" because what he is trying with this very project is to distance himself from the so called "youtubers that does music". The second error would be to expect some life-changing experience, it's sometimes very simple but still efficient and has an amazing sound (love the guitar tones on this one.).It's nice to listen to as a ... read more

Gorillaz - Demon Days
89

Demon days is the 2nd studio album of Gorillaz and my favourite from them. The variety of sounds and genre on this record and their use is for me the best thing they could have ever done.
This Album transport us in a dystopian setting in which humanity slowing destroys itself. It's the main theme of the album and most of Damon Albarn lyrics are based on this thematic. They're very efficient and serves a good message.
Love how he constrats 2D negative and depressive view of the world ... read more

Stromae - Racine carrée
87

Stromae best work to this day. Powerful lyrics with themes just as powerful (loss, health problems, social medias alienation) with very strong vocals from Stromae to carry them. The musical elements used on this album are so nice to listen to. A lot of electro influences mixed with pop and sometimes even house music. It gives it such a contrasted and unique vibe that i particularly appreciate. Unfortunately i think the first part of the album is way better than the second, it was perfect the ... read more

Good Kid - Good Kid 4
49

And here is where i draw the line. It keeps getting worse. like i said on my review of "Good Kid 3", nothing new in the sound, the lyrics and in the vocals. Straight up disapointing. I like the turn they took when they released "Ground" unfortunate it didn't make the cut for this EP because it would have brought a different light to it. I can say that i only enjoyed 1 song out of this and it makes me genuinely sad because i think this band has the potential to release ... read more

Good Kid - Good Kid 3
64

This is where Good Kid gets kind of boring here.
Their songs can't bring out the feeling their older songs used to bring out esentially because they do not take any new risks (no "Madeleine" even if it's acoustic doesn't take any risks). They found their formula and dry it. That doesn't mean it's inherently bad, there are still some cool tracks but nothing new unfortnately and it becomes boring

Fav songs: Osmosis, Mimi's Delivery Service

Good Kid - Good Kid 2

A very nice EP that is the perfect continuation of the first even if we can see a little bit the problem with good kid songs. Very happy they included a sadder song because it is pretty cool ! This EP contains my favourite song from them and probably one of my favourite song OAT: Aloe Lite

Fav songs: Sling Shot, Pox, Aloe Lite
Least Fav Songs: Everything Everything, Drifting, Down with the king

Good Kid - Good Kid
83

78----83 (05/12/2024)
Had to raise it because it's actually really good except for maybe atlas that is less engaging. Such a nostalgia filled album and i was maybe a bit too strict with it because of "Good Kid 4" and how it disapointed me.

When you hear Good Kid for the first time you are most of the time fascinated by their guitar tone and lead singer voice. that's what happened to me when i listened to "Good kid" for the first time. They keep it simple but it ... read more
