As a wise man once said "How many times do we gotta teach you this lesson, old man!"
Should've just listened to James Blake today
An amazing and nostalgic soundtrack, that is only made better by the more condensed vinyl version
Side A:
BEST NEW TRACK: 'Boy You Should Know' feels like it fits the smoothest on the album really fits in with the other tracks on the second side.I was so happy when I heard this sample. Gave me memories of his 2017-2018 track 'Millennium Freestyle' in which he interpolated those same lyrics.
WORST NEW TRACK: Might've been on par or better than OG if it wasn't for 'COKE OR DOPE?' randomly having a JIHAD JOE snippet. I'll prob just take it out ... read more
Even though this sounds good sonically, it gets samey and the lyrics don't really do anything for me. Maybe if I heard this as a teen I would be abit more receptive to this.
so 9 producers and 18 writers for a 5 track, 12 minute EP
What could go wrong
This album is my blanket. No matter the mood it will give me warmth. Most of the songs on this album could easily be considered one of the best songs of all time. I remember one time when I was on a flight and Aurora was playing as the flight lifted off and with the swells in the song it felt otherworldly. One of the greatest albums of all time
After listening to veteran I went straight to this and stopped it after the first 2 songs and thought it just wasn't for me. I skipped it and went straight to LP, which had just released at the time. When I went back to this album maybe a month later, I was shocked by how beautiful it sounded. I sounded natural, not in the sense of what song structure naturally is, but in the sense of the album feeling like it had no form, little repetition. It was like it was just naturally moving from scene ... read more
Josie's Past messed me up with that excerpt from the Secret Diary of Laura Pamer
Original Score: 10
Hard panning every instrument in 2009 is an unforgivable crime and probably caused alot of people to think The Beatles are trash
Edit: Maybe I was alittle harsh.
Edit: I don't even remember how this sounds
Original Statement: I wish there was more progression and variation throughout. A good amount of the songs here feel undeveloped and the vocals at times can be a bit grating. But when this album works it can be very calming little acoustic album.
Standouts
-Lullaby
-Let You In
-Summer (Demo)
Original score: 85
Maybe I'm just a sucker for strings but oh my god.
This is a mostly entrancing wonder. The few weird moments cannot do enough to take away the beauty of a good amount of tracks on this. Do your self a favor and listen to this album
Lyrically overwhelming. Like a Charlie Kaufman film, I notice something new to contribute to the puzzle. And like Kaufman movies I know that I will never find everything, making every listen fell like a first.
Its too bad a semi interesting soundscape doesn't make up for generic lyrics and compositions.
