The first Floyd album where Water’s political views really begin to shape the sound. The album feels much more gritty and grounded than the vast, other-worldly soundscapes of the previous record, but the band still pull it off almost flawlessly.
That being said, how many Animal Farm adaptations are we going to get without any reference to Minimus. It’s getting silly now.
If I had to pick between David Gilmour’s Strat and Takanaka’s surfboard, I know what I would choose. Dick Parry’s saxophone.
Just found out Dick Parry died on Saturday. RIP to an absolute legend.
Is it possible to be impregnated by Takanaka’s guitar? Asking for a friend.
Very enjoyable listen. Possibly my favourite RHCP album, although I do need to re-listen to Californication and BSSM. Drags a little at some points, but not enough for the album to be boring, and features 2 of the best Chilli Peppers tracks - The Zephyr Song and Can’t Stop.
Ok, let’s start off with the positives: Weird Fishes / Arpeggi - truly an incredible song, possibly Radiohead’s best. And that’s basically it. I feel almost like indifferent to almost every song on the track list, other than ‘yea, that was pretty good’, but then again, if asked to sing any lyrics off a song other than Weird Fishes, I would struggle. Does not compare to Okay Computer in any way, shape or form.
