Lana Del Rey - Norman Fucking Rockwell!
85

My first Lana Del Rey listen, and definitely a really nice one at that! I went in with kind of middling expectations, as I've never been a huge fan of Lana, but her vocal work and lyrics definitely won me over here! There was almost nothing here that I disliked, and the whole album has a really consistent beautiful songwriting style to it that I definitely can appreciate a lot. I still don't think Lana Del Rey is necessarily my exact type of music, but I feel like you just HAVE to ... read more

acloudyskye - This Won't Be The Last Time

About time I finally love an acloudyskye album, and what an album this is! His album before this one was always an album I wanted to love, but the songs were never quite cohesive enough for me, and a lot of the songs just didn't click. Compared to THIS however, I feel like acloudyskye has FINALLY learned how to create a perfect cohesive album, with absolutely everything clicking into place. Nothing here feels out of place or weird, and everything has such a nice melody. It also helps this ... read more

Lamp - ランプ幻想 [Lamp Phantasma]

This is just such a feel good album. It doesn't stick out a ton admittedly, and I think feels a bit dragged out at some points in the second half, but that doesn't stop this from being just an absolute vibe from start to finish. The jazz, the slower tracks, the instrumentals, all of it clicks really well and had me engrossed from start to finish :)

The Hoosiers - The Trick to Life

Goodness, this album is PURE JOY and FUN! This album bounces between so many different energetic vibes and moods, with really great vocal work, and with melodies that hit nearly every time, this album WORKS SO WELL. There are a few tracks that don't quite hit, and the album doesn't really have a solid structure to follow per say, but it makes up for this tenfold with the incredibly fun guitarwork and melodies throughout the tracks! This album somehow feels nostalgic to me, despite ... read more

iamamiwhoami - kin

This album is just a dream like experience from start to finish, with such unique dreamy synthpop/electropop style all throughout. No part of this feels out of place or annoying, and every part of it just flows from piece to piece perfectly. I had an absolutely incredible time with this, and strongly recommend it for someone wanting a dreamy, yet engaging experience!

Sigur Rós - Ágætis byrjun

This album is just beautifully pleasant, from start to finish. Every song here feels distinct and flows well, and you can just get lost in the nonsensical vocals and peaceful feeling instrumentals, though the mysterious and spooky sounds lend it a very unique vibe that makes it stick out a lot in a good way. It's the kind of album that you can just shut your eyes, and just float... and float I did. I honestly don't have a whole lot to say about it, but it just does what it wants to do ... read more

The Microphones - The Glow Pt. 2
95

This album is really a shockingly one of a kind experience, portraying feels and a look into the mind of a person stronger than a lot of other things I've ever seen. Nothing is consistent here, everything is chaotic and messy, the instruments often times clash with one another and the tone is shifting all the time, and yet, despite that sounding like a negative, it just ISN'T. It's the perfect example of controlled emotional chaos and turmoil, and to me it feels somewhat like ... read more

St. Vincent - Actor

What a diverse and fun pop/rock album! The instrumentation and tone of the album is all over the place, but in a way that feels really controlled here. Not every song fully lands for me, and a few of them admittedly feel a bit plain or less interesting, but the ones that stick out feel so fresh and interesting to me, which I appreciate greatly. This is just a great fun album to hear from start to finish, with some really big highlights, and a very theatrical feeling I enjoy quite a lot ... read more

Fiona Apple - When the Pawn...
85

This is my first proper Fiona Apple album, and is a whole lot of fun! Fiona's piano throughout is a treat to listen to, and the album has a really diverse set of songs to listen to, breaking my worry if it potentially feeling a bit too samey throughout. The energy on display is also a lot of fun, though I do wish there was a bit more songs like Fast As You Can, which sticks out as a very exciting moment on the album. Fiona's just having plenty of fun here, and it shows really well! ... read more

Various Artists - Arcane League of Legends (Soundtrack from the Animated Series)

Giving this a quick review because I've listened to these a lot and I've been super into the Arcane soundtracks, so here's the Season 1 OST review! This album accompanies this season soooo well, even if I think some of the songs are a lot weaker compared to the ambition in the Season 2 OST. It's smaller, but the highs here are truly wonderful, and the EMOTION on songs like Goodbye and Guns For Hire and What Could Have Been hit DIFFERENT. A beautiful soundtrack, even if some ... read more

Jaron Steele - LIGHTYEARS
65

LIGHTYEARS is a somewhat diverse album quality wise, with what feels like a lot less ambition and effort put into it compared to Jarons first super great and progression filled album. That being said, despite its low points, it's still got some of that Jaron flair that I enjoy, and I find myself feeling like a lot of fun was had making it, which I respect a lot! I just wish it had more strong highlights like ICARUS, which really sticks out on this album as a clear strong point, especially ... read more

Radiohead - The Bends
80

Well, this is it, the last Radiohead album I needed to hear. I've gotta say, this is pretty solid one! While I do think it has a kind of weak beginning, it picks up a LOT in the middle with some really really solid alt rock tracks, and it's overall pretty solid. While I don't think this has many highs compared to the typical Radiohead albums that I've adored, it doesn't really have many lows either, and I found myself bopping my head and enjoying it all throughout. ... read more

Radiohead - The King of Limbs

This album is honestly just... really really uninspired. Beyond the radiohead album we don't talk about, this feels like by far their most uninspired and lazy work, with the first half of the album particularly featuring 4 songs with the exact same repetitive production problem back to back to back to back (though I do like Little by Little at least) and then when the album starts to break away from it, it just kinda feels like... worse versions of things Radiohead has already done. ... read more

Radiohead - Amnesiac
75

Amnesiac isn't really a bad album, but compared to all the wonderful Radiohead I've heard up to this point, this one sticks out a lot less to me. It's got its highlights for sure, and definitely some very experimental stuff, but mixed around with the incredible stuff is songs that just feel like weird leftovers of Kid A that don't really stand out or feel very interesting to me. That being said, the highlights of this album are just as superb as I'd expect from ... read more

Imogen Heap - Speak for Yourself

This album is filled to the brim with VARIETY, and I LOVE it for that. Despite being an album from 19 years ago, this album still feels new and fresh, with it trying so many interesting and exciting things, and having some wild production to boot. There are some moments where I feel the ideas on display don't really work or are a little more boring, but the highlights wildly overtake the weaker parts. Just superb!

김뜻돌 [Meaningful Stone] - 천사 인터뷰 [Angel interview]

This album is pretty good! I honestly don't have much to say about it, I'm unsure exactly how much it'll grow or not grow but when this album dares to try some pretty wacky stuff, it does it pretty well. I do think there are some filler-y interludey tracks that I didn't care for as much strewn about the whole thing, but the album has a good feeling to it, and was a fairly fun listen. The last 2 songs were a bit strange to add near the end though, and did end the album on a ... read more

Radiohead - Hail to the Thief
90

I am genuinely super surprised by this album not having a higher rating than it does, because I find this to be one of the most consistently creative and wildly put together Radiohead albums that I've heard so far. This album loves to not stick to one style, which sure, one could see as a bad thing, but I just can't. It's diverse and unique which helped keep my interest throughout, and even when it dipped into less good territory, I was still incredibly impressed by the vocal and ... read more

Jeff Buckley - Grace

This album is quite intriguing and special, because to be completely honest I don't think I would usually care for this style at all, and generally pre-2000s music can be a bit of a mixed bag for me, but Jeff's voice and guitar work here absolutely steals the show and makes me appreciate this so much more than I would normally I think. His vocal work is gorgeous, the guitar work shines in a lot of places, and you can definitely feel the emotion in all of his vocals. If anything, I ... read more

Zedd - Dream Brother

I genuinely like Telos and like Zedd, but WOW this is a BUTCHERING of this song. Even me as someone who really loves Telos can't defend this one, it's a black stain on an otherwise great album :/

Lorde - Pure Heroine
50

I'll be honest, I understand that to some extent this album is just *really* not my thing, but this feels like it has really not aged that well at all to me. The production isn't that interesting throughout, Lorde's vocals are *fine* (though border on not good at times) but are SIGNIFICANTLY improved in her later album Melodrama, and this whole thing just screams a first album from an up and coming artist, which is I suppose what this album is. To me though, I found this album to ... read more
