These are just wonderful covers of some of the best songs ever written, what's not to like about this?
Hank Williams, Jr. delivers a superb vocal performance with a lot of emotion.
A major step forward in every aspect, great production, clear/crisp vocals and better songwriting.
I'll keep this as short as possible......this is quite bad.
Every song unnecessarily drags on far too long.
A lot of times his vocals are overpowered by the background music.
Again, like the first mixtape the production isn't great at all.
And just like "House Of Balloons" the songwriting is atrocious yet again, I don't need to highlight anything just take a listen to both mixtapes.
no flow, poor production, no direction, terrible songwriting, followed by more ... read more
"House Of Balloons" is the first release for "The Weeknd" and it is a very rough listen, the songs have no direction or flow, the lyrics are as meaningless as they can get and on top of all that the production is quite poor.....but.....this is exactly what I would expect from any R&B/ Hip-Hop artists first mixtape, all bragging, no solid lyrics, sloppy production, followed by amateur singing/rapping.
A Hard Days Night may not have as many hits as their debut album "Please Please Me" but it makes up for that by having a consistent selection of songs with the most notable being "And I Love Her", arguably one of The Beatles best songs.
The problem with this album is that it peaks at track number 6, not as good as the first album as the second half does get a little boring.....but......it's still a fairly good album
All the songs written by The Beatles are phenomenal but the tracks that they covered such as "Anna Go to Him", "Chains", "Boys", "Baby It's You" and "A Taste of Honey" are very mediocre and some of them are pretty annoying, not only are the lyrics bad but they are also performed pretty bad, I think John Lennon is quite annoying on "Anna Go to Him" and he is almost unbearable on "Baby It's You".
Honestly could be ... read more
If they kept up the fast pace all the way through then this would've just been amazing, but some songs are just far too slow and ruin the flow of the entire album, but.......they are worth sitting through as there's always a great song around the corner.
What genre is this, reggae? rock? rap?
Overall it's a strangely enjoyable album, I like it.
Re review: 29/03/25 after listening to this hundreds of times, I can confirm that this album is perfect.
This album starts off okay (excluding the interludes) but it just gradually falls away from itself and gets a bit unlistenable at the end.
This album really could’ve done with a great feature such as logic or Eminem, they definitely bring the best out of him, “ISIS” and “Lucky You” are phenomenal songs.
Instead we are left with a really messy album that has out of place features.
“Riot” is pretty unbearable, really don’t understand what he was ... read more
Yes, It's very bad but if this was just Paul Stanley singing on his own it would be a little better, the best songs are very mediocre and the rest is just the other band members singing....AWFULLY, which leaves for a very inconsistent listening experience.
No essential tracks for this album but it's certainly not their worst.
Everything else seems a little flat compared to the standout tracks, which are: "Lookin' for Love" and "One in a Million",
Overall, nothing here is bad, just very basic 70's/80's slow country music, which is by no means a bad thing.
I first heard this album back in January this year (2025) and I was pretty sceptical at first because of the high rating, as we all know that 80% of the highest rated albums on this site aren't usually as good as the rating that's next to it, (which is probably the thing I hate most about this site, people only review heavy metal, indie rock and rap music) so going into this I didn't know what to expect, I thought it would just be a standard soul album but....... I was blown away ... read more
So this album is pretty interesting, it is essentially just unfinished Hank Williams songs that have been re-imagined by many talented artists.
"In 2006, a janitor working for Sony/ATV Music Publishing claimed to have found Williams' unfinished lyrics inside a Sony-owned dumpster. She said that she had sold Williams' notes to a representative of the Honky-Tonk Hall of Fame and the Rock-N-Roll Roadshow. She was then accused of theft, but the charges were dropped when a judge ... read more
Honestly, really didn't enjoy this, I found it incredibly boring, the production just like the rapping is very uninteresting and the ad-libs are annoying.
Is this good lyrically?
No, not in my opinion, even if something notable was said here or there it was delivered atrociously or by one of the features.
Really the only track I enjoyed was the one with Nas.
Kendricks verse was pretty weak, Tyler, The Creator was decent I guess but he was put on a bad track, Pharrell singing is never a ... read more
A great live performance from Elvis with an amazing band behind him, he performed some of his classics mixed with great covers of a lot of different artists so this has a lot of variety.
"Ayyy ya not getting tired are ya?"
I feel like that's something you shouldn't need to keep saying at a heavy metal concert, maybe he sensed that he was boring the audience to death or maybe he was asking that because he was tired himself, he does sound a little exhausted after a few performances......
Anyway, as far as live performances go this one is above average, the band were great, the singer was half decent but the only thing I don't like about it are the songs ... read more
Marvin Gaye sounds incredible here, seems like he was a great live performer, in fact his voice sounds so good here it would be hard to distinguish between the studio version and the live version.
