The Beach Boys finally get sad in "Surf's Up". For their popular albums, this is a great step away from the standard sound of happy sunshine baroque pop and more towards a psychedelic pop sound. It still has the elements of baroque pop that worked so well in "Pet Sounds" and "Sunflower", but has darker themes and more experimental instrumentation. Great record, especially the last 3 tracks are just insane.
You know what? I love this.
The Lemon Twigs's one and only concept album "Go to School" is a wacky fucking rock musical centered around the story of a chimpanzee being raised by humans as a boy. First of all, insane concept that actually does have a lot of potential lyrically. Despite this, I definitely think the lyrics are NOT the center piece of this album. That is the instrumentals and vocals. I did see some people online dislike the vocals but I personally loved them and how ... read more
While nothing special, The Lemon Twigs bring a nice throwback to the table. This is a decent glam rock project that does have some bangers like "The One" and "Live in Favor of Tomorrow", but that's really it. "The One" is probably the best track on this album and in their discography. It really cements that campy glam rock sound. However it keeps itself in check and doesn't go overboard by having relatable lyrics. Vocally, this album doesn't even get ... read more
Great stuff here, I was pretty impressed by Aldous Harding's vocal performance here. Her deeper vocals fit really well with the chamber folk sounds. Reminded me of the new-ish Beth Gibbons record with her richer vocals.
The collab album between digicore artists glaive and kurtains is an unusual mix of all sorts of genres. Each song is different from each other, with “Old Freight Train Interlude” being country pop, “Flyen” being indie rock, “Spinning Around” being chamber pop, and “The Troubles” being electropop. Seriously some of the weirdest combinations that works just really well because the two artists bring their a-game to each track.
The Lemon Twigs are back! After an impressive solo album by Brian D’Addario, the brothers (and now joined by their tour drummer and bassist in the studio!) are reunited to create what I believe to be their happiest album to date. Their 2024 project “A Dream Is All We Know”, was a great throwback project that dug into some classic Beach Boys sounds and “Look For Your Mind!” is no different. “Look For Your Mind!” is definitely an album that builds upon ... read more
The deluxe album to Madison Beer’s “locket” comes in as a pretty big disappointment for me. To this day I will never understand why she didn’t tap into the melodic house sounds that made “make you mine” and “15 MINUTES” so good. Speaking of “15 MINUTES”, where is it? I feel like it would’ve been a nice inclusion in the album to not only bump its streaming numbers up but to bring more attention to how good it is! The songs that ... read more
Just reviewing the three new songs, the rating will be the average of all song's ratings.
After releasing one of my favorite records of 2025, ROSALÍA comes back with three new songs in "LUX (Complete Works)". Despite being the complete works version, I definitely felt more satisfied with the project we go in November. These songs are great, being blends of orchestral and art pop music, but this wasn't 100% a necessary release.
"Novia Robot" is great though.
After dropping one of the most hype albums of 2025, Joey Valence & Brae show they have more to offer in their deluxe, "HYPERYOUTH (afterparty)". As per usual, their lyricism is the highlight here, with the production being a secondary highlight.
The amount of producers here is insane and you can hear how they bring their own sound to each track. Mach-Hommy deserves every praise he gets because this LP is magical and heavenly.
Trip hop mixed with dream pop? Yeah this was gonna be peak. POiSON GiRL FRiEND's "MELTING MOMENT" is a Japanese spectacle that combines two similar-ish genres into a workable project with some lush but icy vocals. Great work here, I definitely will have to give this some more time for me to like it but overall enjoyable.
GO WHITE BOY GOOOOOOO!!!!
Everywhere I go I've been hearing about Malcolm Todd, and after his smash hit mixtape in 2024 (btw give "Sweet Boy" a listen, you won't regret it!), I decided to listen to his 2025 debut and I'll be honest this is a nice short bedroom pop album. The guitars are sweet, and those vocals... oh BOY, they're smooth and passionate. Overall, Malcolm Todd has some insane talent that should not go unnoticed. This man has a way with words that very ... read more
The Boldy James and Sterling Toles collab album is a dark, melancholic, but smooth jazz rap project. The theming on this record is perfect, with topics of domestic abuse, city life and sex being central themes.
Well that was one of the BEST emo-pop albums I've ever listened to.
Seriously Origami Angel cooked SO hard in their debut. It's melodic and full of 2010s energy. Vocally stunning, but then those guitars oh my God they were so good. Never a dull moment here.
RIP glass beach: 2016–2026 ππ₯Ίππ’π
Probably one of the most iconic indie emo rock albums of the late 2010s/early 2019s we have the first glass beach album, "the first glass beach album" (see what I did there haha).
This is some great stuff here, and is extremely creative with its interludes being fairly cool and working with the overall structure of the album.
For my 1000th review, we have one of the greatest albums of all time!
Yuno Miles's "Go On Tour Yuno" is unironically fire. Sometimes we just gotta have fun and comedic music that doesn't take itself seriously at ALL.
Is the rapping good? No.
Are the lyrics good? No.
BUT IS IT FIRE??? FUCK YEAH!! π£οΈ
In all seriousness, thank you for all the likes and support throughout the past 1 year, 7 months, and 18 days. Music has become my life and reviewing music has genuinely ... read more
"The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads" is one of the most unique records I've tapped into. It takes elements of post-rock shoegaze and blends it with Christian rock to make a heavy, religious and fucking epic project. Great stuff, vocally and instrumentally.
