Rome Streetz is such a cutthroat rapper, arrogant and gritty raps over these scant beats that give Rome the spotlight. He delivers cold, flex-heavy lyrics. He basically keeps finding new ways to saying that he is simply better than anyone else. His arrogance and grittiness come through incredibly well and make it such an ear-grabbing listen from front to back.
Geordie comes through with an impassioned piece of art that solidifies his abilities as an artist and what he meant to black midi. As an ambitious song writer, Geordie incorporates many layers to many of the songs of this album creating a level of depth and nuance that simply many other albums don’t have. The first single to the album Holy,Holy is a powerful piece of rock music stands out among the great songs of the album. While I won’t say there are any bad or mediocre songs on ... read more
Up until this point I’ve been quite unfamiliar with Blood Incantation’s music, but after seeing the amount of praise this album is getting on the site, I figured that I would give it a listen.
I’ve been a fan of death metal for years, listening to the likes of Dying Fetus, and Death. Being big fans of them I’ve done some diving into death metal, but didn’t quite come across this band yet.
The music on here can only be described as epic, as the grandiose symphonic ... read more
Such a crushing album listen. Visceral to the fullest with some harsh vocal performances and destructive sounding guitars
This is some heavy, brutal deathcore. Love the aggression, the vocals are particularly great imo. What deathcore should be
He really could’ve waited to release this. There was literally no pressure for him to drop. Not sure why he decided to rush a project that has some of his sleepiest songs. Might be more boring that We Still Don’t Trust You. Why are songs 90 seconds long?? A few songs hit, but most just feel like drab filler. Though I’m not sure what I was expecting given my mixed fixings about We Still Don’t Trust You, though he did say this would mixtape era Pluto and we simply ... read more
If you were ever curious how Alice in Chains might sound like if they were a metal band, I may have the answer you were looking for! Thou is a Baton Rouge based sludge/doom metal band who have made 90s grunge the soul of their music and that can't be made more apparent on this album. Not to say that this album lacks originality, but is rather quite tasteful and serves as a reminder that grunge and sludge share common roots. With Bryan Funck on ... read more
Now what is this? Doechii offers a decent performance, but this interpolation and Katy Perry’s performance make the song unlistenable
Boundaries offers quite an aggresssive and punishing listen. The vocals are pound and in your face, though I can really do away with some of the cleans that appear throughout. An album defined by intensity but songs aren’t as chaotic as I would have liked.
Admittedly an album I was not that high on upon release, but as certainly grown on me recently. Was initially truly impressed with the singles and still am, but for whatever reason something didn’t click at first with this album.
Knocked loose was my gateway band into metalcore/hardcore and I’ll always appreciate the band for getting me into the -core and core adjacent subgenre through their amazing ep A Tear in the Fabric of Life.
The first single, Blinding Faith, was a 10/10 ... read more
I have been obsessing over this album recently. Such an ambitious and creative album that has panned out incredibly well.
After hearing that The Smile is releasing another album this year, I figured that I’d give this album a fair review.
This is a pretty solid album from Thom Yorke. Admittedly have not been a fan of Thom’s more subtle approach to his writing, but I do like how nuanced most of the songs are, very much proving that he is still a capable writer. I still do think this album is held back a bit by the subtlety as I wish some of these songs packed a bigger punch.
Some the best black metal you’ll hear this year, especially if you are into the old lo-fi aesthetics that make up much of 80s black metal, I’d recommend this album. A band that deserves more attention, can’t wait to hear more from them
Hard to believe this came out in the 70s, they had to have discovered a new type of drug
