Silk Sonic - Love's Train
NR

Con Funk Shun's original version is unquestionably great, but let's not pretend that these guys didn't make the song so much better in every possible way.

Don Henley - I Can't Stand Still
NR

Diry Laundry is the shit. A 9/10 song for sure.

Didn't even bothered listening to the rest.

久石譲 [Joe Hisaishi] - 風立ちぬ [The Wind Rises Soundtrack]
100

This is unquestionably his best scoring work for a Studio Ghibli movie for sure. Fitting for Hayao Miyazaki's cinematic magnum opus.

A lot of people here seem to forget that in order to fully appreciate the quality of a movie score, you should experience it along with the movie instead of just listening to the soundtrack. This is a genius score that fully embraces the narrative that the film is going for, more than any other score I've heard from Joe Hisaishi (which is why there are a lot of ... read more

Prince and The Revolution - Around the World in a Day

Purple Rain is so good everyone slept on this one, but don't let that fool you. This album is magnificent.

Also, Raspberry Beret might be my favorite song ever.

Prince - Prince

1979 is quite a special year. Not only did we see Michael Jackson finally become a star and a respected artist on his own, but we also had Prince (who would shortly turn into MJ's biggest "rival") finally enter the mainstream and start making a bit of a household name for himself (even if it was mainly for one song, which was obviously I Wanna Be Your Lover).

I don't really have that much to say about this album other than it is a really good first look into the artist that would end ... read more

Prince - Sign "☮︎" the Times
85

Yes, this is a fantastic album, but it feels like an uncohesive collection of songs that are just put there because Prince wanted to release a double album. Oh wait, that's exactly what this album is. In fact, not just a double album, but Prince apparently wanted to release three different albums for the same year, to which Warner obviously said no, so he decided to compilate his favorite material into a double album... it is what it is. Most are really incredibly great songs, but there ... read more

Prince - The Gold Experience
90

Unquestionably, Prince's best album from the 90s and I'd even say my favorite work of him. Gold is one of the best closing tracks I've ever heard in my entire life.

Prince - 1999

Something about the sonical atmosphere created in this album feels really eerie and I fucking love it.

Listen to the remastered version. It's just so much better.

Prince and The Revolution - Purple Rain
99

This is what I call true Pop perfection. It represents in so many ways the pinnacle of megastardom while also being an outstanding artistic milestone. I would rate this a full 100 if it wasn't for the fact that its narrative becomes a bit ambiguous (not in the best way) once we get past When Doves Cry, but still, nothing that matters that much.

I've seen that the general consensus usually is that Sign O' The Times is Prince's magnum opus and his greatest artistic achievement, and while that ... read more

Marvin Gaye - What's Going On

It's What's Going On by Marvin Gaye.

Lou Reed & Metallica - Lulu
NR

Guys, I think I know who the table is.

deadmau5 - For Lack of a Better Name
90

This is probably the best album deadmau5 has made.

About my favorite tracks here; Ghosts n' Stuff is an undeniable club banger that will live forever, Soma is a beautiful track with amazing progression and innovative sound design, the same can be said about Lack Of A Better Name, and then we got Strobe which is not only the best thing deadmau5 has ever made but it's also the definitive Prog House track.

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
100

I mean. It is Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly.

ellis - Recollection Prospective

Caught in the Rays, Don't Say Ur Sorry and Unfold are absolutely incredible tracks and I wish this was one of those Monstercat releases that became a pop hit just because of those three, especially Don't Say Ur Sorry, which is just so catchy and funky. Speak Francais and Brand New Phone are really well produced, as expected from Ellis, but I can't stand how laughably corny the lyrics are plus the douchebag-like attitude the vocals give off; those tracks genuenly destroy the vibe of this EP and ... read more

O-Town - O-Town
NR

I was just watching Beef and I heard Liquid Dreams. This is the very first time I know about the existence of O-Town and I am not surprised. Btw, going back to Liquid Dreams, that is such a fever dream of a song wtf.

Porter Robinson - Nurture
90

This album gave me the most blissful listening experience I think I've ever had. I can't help but feel good whenever I listen to a song from here.

OutKast - Stankonia
95

I mean, it's OutKast. Them doing something not great would be beyond me. Well, they did Idlewind, but that was just mid.

Linkin Park - A Thousand Suns
90

Is this a perfect album? No. Is it an outstanding musical work and Linkin Park's magnum opus? Oh, absolutely it is. I would love to do a full review on this one, but my man Docky already did it and I couldn't agree more with the guy.

On pedrð's review of Prince - Prince
"Even Bambi, I feel, is more of a pro-lesbian song despite the homophobic reputation it gets from people who ignore the part where it is implied that the character Prince portrays is somewhat trying to come to terms with the fact that it is something he doesn't understand and realizing that maybe that's just the way Bambi is, all to ultimately fall into the "well, gotta try still" attitude trying to convince her to switch sides in a very toxic way. And I feel like you can maybe understand the intention of that song once you realize that he had Lisa Coleman and Wendy Melvoin as key members of his group who were a lesbian couple and Prince admired deeply. Although, that was a few years after this song dropped."
On pedrð's review of Prince - Prince
"One of the aspects that baffle me the most about Prince is the fact that he didn't convert to any religion, but Jehova's Witnesses of all religions. Which is odd considering how progressive his views on gender identity and sexual orientation were at the time. Not only has it been hinted by many of his peers that he was bisexual, but he was quite open about being what we now call "gender fluid", and you can look for interviews in which he said so."
On Bir9's review of Prince - Dirty Mind
"Well, turns out Warner actually rushed the release of this album to take advantage of the momentum of Prince's new found fame in 1979. And it absolutely shows, the production of this album screams unfinished, it actually sounds like garbage, but the songs are fire."

"Honestly, a little unfortunate that of all the great Janet albums it had to be this one. Well, at least it wasn't 20 Y.O. or Discipline, but you get the point."
