Con Funk Shun's original version is unquestionably great, but let's not pretend that these guys didn't make the song so much better in every possible way.
Diry Laundry is the shit. A 9/10 song for sure.
Didn't even bothered listening to the rest.
This is unquestionably his best scoring work for a Studio Ghibli movie for sure. Fitting for Hayao Miyazaki's cinematic magnum opus.
A lot of people here seem to forget that in order to fully appreciate the quality of a movie score, you should experience it along with the movie instead of just listening to the soundtrack. This is a genius score that fully embraces the narrative that the film is going for, more than any other score I've heard from Joe Hisaishi (which is why there are a lot of ... read more
Purple Rain is so good everyone slept on this one, but don't let that fool you. This album is magnificent.
Also, Raspberry Beret might be my favorite song ever.
1979 is quite a special year. Not only did we see Michael Jackson finally become a star and a respected artist on his own, but we also had Prince (who would shortly turn into MJ's biggest "rival") finally enter the mainstream and start making a bit of a household name for himself (even if it was mainly for one song, which was obviously I Wanna Be Your Lover).
I don't really have that much to say about this album other than it is a really good first look into the artist that would end ... read more
Yes, this is a fantastic album, but it feels like an uncohesive collection of songs that are just put there because Prince wanted to release a double album. Oh wait, that's exactly what this album is. In fact, not just a double album, but Prince apparently wanted to release three different albums for the same year, to which Warner obviously said no, so he decided to compilate his favorite material into a double album... it is what it is. Most are really incredibly great songs, but there ... read more
Unquestionably, Prince's best album from the 90s and I'd even say my favorite work of him. Gold is one of the best closing tracks I've ever heard in my entire life.
This is what I call true Pop perfection. It represents in so many ways the pinnacle of megastardom while also being an outstanding artistic milestone. I would rate this a full 100 if it wasn't for the fact that its narrative becomes a bit ambiguous (not in the best way) once we get past When Doves Cry, but still, nothing that matters that much.
I've seen that the general consensus usually is that Sign O' The Times is Prince's magnum opus and his greatest artistic achievement, and while that ... read more
This is probably the best album deadmau5 has made.
About my favorite tracks here; Ghosts n' Stuff is an undeniable club banger that will live forever, Soma is a beautiful track with amazing progression and innovative sound design, the same can be said about Lack Of A Better Name, and then we got Strobe which is not only the best thing deadmau5 has ever made but it's also the definitive Prog House track.
Caught in the Rays, Don't Say Ur Sorry and Unfold are absolutely incredible tracks and I wish this was one of those Monstercat releases that became a pop hit just because of those three, especially Don't Say Ur Sorry, which is just so catchy and funky. Speak Francais and Brand New Phone are really well produced, as expected from Ellis, but I can't stand how laughably corny the lyrics are plus the douchebag-like attitude the vocals give off; those tracks genuenly destroy the vibe of this EP and ... read more
This album gave me the most blissful listening experience I think I've ever had. I can't help but feel good whenever I listen to a song from here.
Is this a perfect album? No. Is it an outstanding musical work and Linkin Park's magnum opus? Oh, absolutely it is. I would love to do a full review on this one, but my man Docky already did it and I couldn't agree more with the guy.
