Logic was never gone for me but also logic is back
Now I can hear ppl shutting the fuck up about what he's dropping
I don't have a lot of negative things to say about this album, but as a Nas fan this mostly leaves me forgetting it's a Nas project. There are long stretches of time where Nas has no contribution, and I'm left with a decent to good reggae album. More Nas verses and this project might have left a stronger impression on me.
I definitely don't hold the majority opinion on this album. I like Samurai a decent amount more than this project, and I'm honestly sad this hasn't clicked with me the way it has for others. There's high points for sure, I absolutely love Kick, Push and Daydreamin'. I like a decent amount of the other tracks, just not enough to come back to them. There's nothing bad on this album, it just doesn't particularly speak to me sonically like it does for others.
Definitely a classic album. Every track on this album has something interesting going on, and Mos Def has a flow that you just don't hear anymore. You don't hear production in this vein anymore either, it's all so fantastic. No surprise how influential this album and Mos in general are.
Goddamn what a fun ass album. The first half especially is just so good. Falls off in quality in the second half, but it's not bad. The production is solid the whole way through, there's just some instrumentals I would've used differently like UnFazed which sounds like it was made for Future to drop a dark ass verse over. I'm honestly sad that it seems like the consensus is that this was their peak. Should've checked out more Uzi sooner, hopefully I enjoy their next few ... read more
I was into It's a Fee but my enthusiasm for the repetition on these two is waning, hopefully the rest of the project isn't too repetitive.
I don't fucking get it
No matter how much I try to listen to Opium it's just actual trash to my ears
EDIT 4/4/2025 -
I gotta be honest, I understand why this album is hated but it sort of seems like it's hated just because of its reputation now. I don't know that many people go into this album with an open mind giving it a fair chance. This album was the first Eminem release I was ever tuned into as a fan, and it holds a special place in my heart because of that. Its anti-Trump messaging and hopeful outlook on what America could be without him speaks to me, even if the message could ... read more
I actually like Relapse more than this album depending on my mood. If I had to sum up this album, it's like MMLP2 but worse. There's just a lot of times where the vocals aren't great and clash with the instrumental. Even when I was a huge Stan I didn't love this album
EDIT - 3/7/2025
Well along with MTBMB side B this is another Em project that's grown on me recently. Really captures a moment in time when Eminem was re-cementing his popularity as an artist alongside the ... read more
Avoided actually writing an opinion on this for a while, because I have mixed feelings on it. There are tracks on here like Zeus, Gnat, and Discombobulated that are classic modern Em tracks I enjoy a lot. There rest of it are songs I would classify as being one of two genres. One is tracks that sound like leftovers from side A, and are meh. The others are tracks that are him doing whatever he wants and, at least in my opinion, dropping corny bars on purpose to fuck with us. He really is back to ... read more
Unlike many Logic fans, I'm glad we didn't get this version of Ultra. Bobby would have been shit on endlessly for hyping this album up for years only for it to be an experimental indie album with fast rapping on the rest. It's not without its charm, the pair of ready player one/two songs are great and I love DeLorean and the title track, but overall it's lackluster musically. You might think that's because it was unfinished, but multiple sources confirm this is ... read more
