Pretty catchy and interesting with its chord progressions but its missing those explosive moments that it had with ants from up there.
Enjoyable.
Best track: For The Cold Country
Worst track: Forever Howlong
Its been so long since ive reviewed anything.
Not as creepy as geogaddi and not as percussion based as mhtrtc, which gives this album a unique spot in boc's discography.
Best track: Chromakey Dreamcoat
Worst track: Sherbet Head
this completes my preparation for the new album
BC, NR's debut is a really weird and experimental album compared to its successor.
The arabic-esque scales used are pretty cool but I believe its lacking some actually soulful melody, although that doesn't take away from how groovy and unique this record sounds. You can see the ideas perfected on 'Ants From up There' develop here, especially on the second half of Opus which sounds to me as a heavier and more raw version of the ... read more
This sounds like the consequences of war for some reason, I had to cleanse my palette by listening to some other stuff because how low and gritty this is. Although I haven't really listened to much of godspeed you black emperor, it reminds me of a darker and jazzier version of them.
Definitely an interesting experience.
Best track: Aon
Worst track: Tri
(Tbh they're all just one track really)
The first half is incredible with super catchy and powerful riffs, and I feel like Dave Grohl did better drums on this than he did on anything by Nirvana. But after Go with the Flow it kinda dips, good stuff anyway.
Best track: You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar, But I Feel like a Millionaire
Worst track: Another Love Song
My 100th album review yay!!!1!1
I was really excited to listen to this, but it didnt really live up to the rest of tool's catalogue(except undertow i havent heard that yet).
Although I really like this album, but the main flaw is the track length. If you mess up on a 10 minute track like culling voices or the second half of descending it makes up for an experience that you can be easily distracted from, but I do believe this record deserves a listen with your complete attention.

Best track: Pursuance
Worst track: Acknowledgement
catchy, fun, optimistic (usually)
its nothing new or special though
Best track: Strangers
Worst track: Into Blue
grand and theatrical,
the only flaw is that its stretched out too long at times
Best track: Concorde, The Place Where He Inserted The Blade
Worst track: Bread Song
Zero skips. The guitars and kicks go so well together. An almost perfect experience.
Best track: Flying Whales
Worst track: From Mars
Best track: A Day in the Life
Worst track: Within You Without You
