I didn't even bother listening to his album last year because most of what I had heard from the songs was pretty ass. Now a year later he drops a 24 minute surprise album and with this album cover I could already tell that this was going to be something much more fire than something we had heard from Jack in a while and it was. The songs aren't groundbreaking and they don't do anything we haven't heard before but they all are really good and he shows with this album that he can make good music ... read more
There were a couple of songs that didn't really click with me but those that did were amazing
There are some bangers on this but unfortunatly it has its fair share of songs that are pretty meh which drags down the score a bit.
redveil returns with his new EP "playing w/ fire" and further solidifies that he is here to stay. This 6 song EP has back to back bangers through it all.
Black Thought continues on dropping heat after heat. The beats weren't on the level of Cheat Codes and he had to pretty much carry the album by himself on some tracks which he did a great job with. The thing I loved with Cheat Codes was the production and how great all the beats sounded and how good the features were. When a lot of that isn't present as much we have left a Black Thought that needs to do what he usually does and as always that end product ends up being great.
I think his mic or something sounded a bit weird but didn't stop the album from being full of amazing songs. Great debut album. JID is the future of rap.
The second volume of Streams of Thought is better than the first edition. It also sounds better melodically which made it more fun to listen to.
On Kendrick Lamar's first studio album he succeeds in showing his talent and skill but overall fails to create an album that feels as interesting and well put together as some of his work later on his career.
In 2015 Kendrick Lamar dropped an album called "To Pimp A Butterfly" which many call the best Hip Hop album of all time. Two years later he drops "DAMN." While it's not up to the nearly unreachable levels of "To Pimp A Butterfly" and "good kid, m.a.a.d city" this is still very great. It does have some more noticable low points than those 2 albums in "LUST" and "FEAR" which both are songs that I didn't come to like as much as the rest ... read more
This is an amazing album. I can't even pinpoint why I don't think this is an 100 rn. Kendrick does some amazing story telling on this album and with that also some amazing sounding songs too. Kendrick might actually be the goat.
Edit: (50 --> 92) I don't know what I was smoking back then because this was amazing and beautiful from the moment it started until the moment it ended. I really can't disagree anymore with what I said back then because the vocals are not dull, the instrumentals are not boring and every song brings me in and grabs me when I listened to this. The only real dissapointment in this is that my ears couldn't hear what I heard this time back when I first listened to this.
Does this really sound ... read more
As I saw someone say, everything good that can be said about this album has been said. Because of that I'm only going to focus on the "negatives" of this album that doesn't make it a perfect score for me. While I like "For Free?", "Institutionalized" and "u" they aren't great tracks for me. I like them very much but they aren't great. Every other track of the album are pretty much perfect. I didn't think I would get the hype behind this as I wasn't to ... read more
Some great spanish pop songs. I wasn't a big fan of the 3 track run from "CUUUUuuuuuute" to "Abcdefg". "BULERÍAS" was another song I didn't like because the instrumentals overall just sounded like they didn't fit her voice at all and that it was supposed to be for someone else. Everything else on the album was complete fire tho. I'm definitely checking out her earlier stuff after this one.
This is a very beautiful ambient record. The context behind this also makes it much more beautiful with his breathing in the background. R.I.P Ryuichi Sakamoto.
It had a great start with 5 songs in a row that I loved but after that it just felt like normal generic pop. Not necessarily bad but it sounded basic and they were a bit worse in quality too. Overall, this was a really well made pop album that is also very enjoyable.
This is one of those albums where I felt the need to turn off my spotify activities on discord so my friends don't think I listen to this shit.
This is so horrible. The second half was so unbearable because of how long the album felt like it was at that point. I hate skipping songs on albums when first listening to them but these were so shit that I had to skip them for my sanity. I actually wonder if he actually thinks he makes some goated music while sitting in the studio or if he is ... read more
While it's not something that I enjoyed that much and probably wouldn't return to, I think the production on this is incredible. It's really well crafted and the vocals are great and you can hear the time spent on this. I understand why people would like this but for me it just does nothing. It doesn't move me at all.
