On it's own, I'd rate the album a mid-to-high 70, however, when listening to the album with the following instructions, the listening experience is elevated to the point that it becomes the best album I've ever heard.
It's easily one of the best instances of world-building storytelling I've ever heard in music, as well as one of the most well done instances of cosmic / eldritch / Lovecraftian horror. It tells the story of a world being created from nothing by a deity, ... read more
Sanguinarius really needs to drop the 'Sanguinarius - x' songs as an EP or smth on Spotify because those songs are too good to not be in my rotation
What an album man. I was NOT expecting it to be THAT GOOD. Like, yeah, I heard it was good, but never "great", never "amazing." I was very pleasantly surprised. This album warrants more credit
Probably BMTH's most emo album I've heard to date. The album feels as if it perfectly reflects the album cover in vibe, atmosphere and structure. Like an umbrella with a thin handle that bursts out into a wide canopy, the albums sound is constantly shifting from loud and intense to quiet yet intense with angst. In those moments of downtime you can palpably feel the tension build, only for it to be released in the heavier parts of each song.
The album almost sounds like a combination ... read more
Disgustingly underrated. People really hate on this album because it tries something new and or sounds different to their usual sound as if that makes it bad. For the same reason Kid_A by Radiohead is good, this album should also warrant credit.
Let alone that, Scaled and Icy / SAI, the dragon, is used by the bishops to disarm the people of Dema with empty promises of good things and or good times, used to hide their sinister motives and intentions, and the songs reflect that with their ... read more
I'll never understand people who don't like this album. Like, sure, there are forgettable tracks and it doesn't sound like the Metallica most grew up with, but that doesn't make it bad by any means. It's very consistent, and its best tracks are genuinely amazing. However, If Darkness Had A Son was a massive waste of potential. That could've been one of the best songs in their discography, but then Kirk had to give the worst guitar solo in Metallica's entire ... read more
Highly underrated album. One of the few albums where I really wish the bonus track (Lords of Summer) was included on the main album
People say that Escape isn't a good track, but I never got that. Sure, Metallica themselves don't like it because they were forced to make / include it by their record company at the time, but I don't think that makes it a bad song, and I don't think that's much of a reason for the fans to hate it.
One of the most iconic and popular metal albums of all time for very good reason
The album mostly suffers from bloat. Had some of the tracks been cut out though it wouldn't have hit that whole "thirteen" motif. I think that they should've just done something more with the forgettable tracks and tried to be a bit more experimental. Either that or they should've tried harder to return to form. But unfortunately the album is stuck in a limbo state between being experimental enough to be memorable, or a good enough return to be memorable. They ... read more
Pretty underrated. It mostly suffers from having forgettable tracks and a terrible cover
Pretty underrated album. It has some really solid tracks, some really good ones, but also some of Megadeth's worst songs to date. Losing My Senses is by far Megadeth's worst song, and I can't bring myself to relisten to the album in full purely because of it
Easily Megadeth's best project. This album is only brought down in my eyes by Black Curtains
The album in its original iteration is pretty bad when it comes to production, mixing and vocals. But the remastered versions are one of the best metal albums of all time in my eyes. So, I'm rating based on the remasters
The album has some very strong and iconic tracks, but it suffers the entire way through due to the poor mixing and production and Dave's poor vocals. He should've just used the the album's budget ON the album rather than drugs and booze
A very inconsistent album, but an extremely mediocre and underwhelming album.
This album has a few very good songs on it (notably Kingmaker and Dance In The Rain, which are some of my favourite Megadeth songs), but buy-in-large is filled with either very mediocre or just outright bad songs.
