A. G. Cook - Britpop
80

A.G produces an electronic album that's very digestible and great background music. I love synthpop and this album is filled with it, while I don't personally save a lot of instrumental songs in my music because I am someone that enjoys vocals in my music I often throw this album on in the background because of how easy it is to listen to. However, there are two songs that absolutely stuck with me outside of just background sound and that's Heartache and Lucifer which have become ... read more

Quadeca - SCRAPYARD
80

As quadeca has said himself in interviews this mixtape is songs that didn't make Don't mind me and songs that didn't particularly make his new album. It has a very diverse sound from art pop, glitch hop and more. It's an insanely good listen despite this just being b side songs for him. This excites me for the new album whenever it does release.

Jane Remover - Census Designated
90

This sees Jane transition from her experimental hyperpop sound I admittadely love to a shoegaze-y indie rock album. I love the sound of this album and a massive found of vocalization decisions made by Jane. The album is so well produced and she's one of my favorite producers because of how diverse she is. From her hyperpop music to her edm mixed albums to this. She finds a way to make an obtuse, layered guitar sound so engaging and calming to listen to. The album is both staticky and loud ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - IGOR
100

This is my favorite themed album. Tyler creates a synth heavy R&B album with his singing. While I don't think his singing is particularly phenomenal I think that it's softness and production on it matches the vulnerability of the album. The theme being around Tyler falling in love with a man that doesn't love him back and coping with his emotions and trying to move on. My favorite detail is that Igor's theme starts with E-flat which perfectly transitions from the ending ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - Flower Boy
90

This is the album in my eyes where tyler the creator wanted to broaden his audience. His growth needs to be studied from edgy eminem esque storytelling to a mainstream catchy summer rap album. This album production and soundwise still holds up to this day and still has some of my favorite songs ever. It's also the introduction of tyler adding singing into his music more frequently this case primariy from very talented features but you see songs like glitter where he introduces his vocals ... read more

JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown - SCARING THE HOES
90

By far the most fun jpegmafia album. Instrumentals as per usual are incredible and unique to peggy. They make beats that somehow only peggy and Danny brown can actually flow on and sound good and oh boy do they make it sound good. It's some some of his catchiest instrumentation with hard hitting delivery and cadences that flow ever so perfectly on it. This collab was something last year I didn't know I needed but by all means so glad it exists.

JPEGMAFIA - I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU
75

It's Peggy you know you will get an amazing rap album every single time. This album has the theme of having more rock inspired production which he does produce well but isn't my personal favorite mix. The album has many highs and very little lows. Favorite songs I'll be right there, either on or off drugs

Stray Kids - ATE
40

Stray kids does what they usually do they create loud pop music on experimental beats and makes tacky yet very catchy music. I'll admit that many songs are stuck in my head and I listen to them often despite the lyrical content being some of the corniest things they released. They capitalize on the popular sound of music in their production but I don't particularly think they understand some of the production within those genres. A common gripe I have with skz is the lack of ... read more

Charli xcx - BRAT
94

This is Charli's re-entrance into pop stardum and what a better time for it. I have loved her music for years and I think this album clicked everything together. She always had amazing sounding music and her music with themes are always my favorite such as how I'm feeling now, but this album just does it better by having some of her catchiest works and most replayable songs. I think one tell-tale of the success from it is the fact that people are calling it overrated because of tik ... read more

Quadeca - I Didn't Mean to Haunt You
95

This was my favorite album of 2023 and I listened to a lot of these songs on repeat through out the year where he was my most streamed artist. Conceptually it's incredibly strong storytelling and I have every single song saved besides the interlude and cassini's division which is still a great song just doesn't have as much replay value for me. Personal favorites from the album are house settling, don't mind me, tell me a joke, born yesterday

PinkPantheress - Heaven knows
90

This album really got me into pinkpantheress and take her far more seriously. Her early work I felt her production fell flat and it became very repetitive. But with this album despite having repetition in terms of it being very d&b inspired drums and breakbeat production the sound is quite diverse and vocal choices are far more diverse making it for an incredibly replayable and catchy album

RealYungPhil - Victory Music
70

I think the production on this album is absolutely ethereal and some of the best production on a rap album I heard in a while. However, the vocal delivery just doesn't connect with me personally tho lyrically it's very strong and the instrumental is incredibly strong, I am super glad I heard this but it personally doesn't have a lot of replay value for me

파란노을 [Parannoul] - After the Magic
100

Absolutely Incredible album, honestly from head to toe it just feels so nostalgic. Like instrumentation is so engaging but feels so comfortable and easy to connect with. Vocals sound incredible and just such an incredible listen.
