My second listen to a Lizzy project after hearing some tracks from her 2022 album 'Five Seconds Flat", and I can defintely say there are heaps of improvements with this release. Great instrumentation throughout that pairs well with her singing and lyricism, I still feel she is quite 'Phoebe Bridgers-ey', but hey, that's not a bad thing! I do think pushing the tracks to 14 overall loses some momentum as some of the sleepier cuts (i.e. The Elevator) can get lost in the ... read more
My first introduction to Smino, this was quite a fun listen. He has nice vocal inflections and a good flow, which I always appreciate as it adds interest and diversity to his rapping/singing. One thing I would've liked is a more consistent sound or style to the overall project, as it makes a full listen a bit all over the place for the entire 50 minute runtime.
BRAT summer had to end eventually, and with this remix album it goes out with a bit of a whimper sadly. The original album is fantastic and I find the reimagined ideas and concepts falling quite flat here, especially a lot of the hotly anticipated features. The 1975/Jon Hopkins and Bladee features are so forgettable I couldn't even remember what happened as soon as the song finished.
I just don't get the point in releasing an entirely different remixed album if the songs are shells of ... read more
Very nice. Great mix of more dance-focused tracks and mellower tracks. The instrumentation is great and it's quite marshmallow-ey, if that makes sense, maybe it's the synths or something. A drawback of this might be the lack of variation in track length, with 10 songs keeping them all around 3 minutes leaves little room for some or the more middling songs (e.g. Silly) to really pop.
really fun and such inventive ideas and sounds.
Biased in some ways as I already love Greep and how he approaches and makes music, but damn this was great! Such a variety of sounds and interesting ideas that pair really well with his unique singing and writing style.
more emo than Around the Fur but the more melodic/shoegaze elements work phenomenally
exactly what the other Gang Starr albums were missing. sometimes it would be an okay Guru verse on a good Primo beat or vice verza. but this time it’s great verses on great beats so slam dunk!
considering how good Mutter is they could've gone a lot harder and further on this one
although having incredible moments, is it crazy to say that it is too much? so much in one single project makes it hard to digest all of the quality there.
no clue what people see in this one. from the bad mixing to Bob’s new weird voice AND it’s not even half an hour long. 😨
