Maybe a little too tongue in cheek for me but this did surprise me and didn't sound too bad.
Also, Nicholas Braun deserves more attention. Give it to him now.
Big nostalgia on this one and it still holds up insanely well. I love the mature direction they went on this album as opposed to their more adolescent sounding debut album, Louder.
--All Night (100) | One of the most fun sounding pop songs I've ever heard.
--Wild Hearts (70) | Not really into the chorus being slower than the verses. Doesn't sound bad at all though.
--Dark Side (90) | The production is SO GOOD.
--Let's Not Be Alone Tonight (80)
--Repeating Days (100) | This song sounds ... read more
(Edit again) 1 year later and it still fucks. More than ever actually, so I'm raising my score to 80.
(EDIT) Keeping the same score, just wanted to point out that I'm not a fan of the track placements. They don't transition into each other very well. Still a killer pop punk album though. Also, that album closer is easily one of my all time favorites.
And I thought Pop Punk was dead. I was dead wrong.
Jeff's energy overwhelmed me a bit at times but he did a killer job on this album. Catchy ... read more
The New Abnormal is not an entirely bad record but sometimes songs feel like they drag on a bit longer than they should. To me, the album just felt too safe and average.
Edit: I think it's slowly growing on me.
--The Adults Are Talking (80)
--Selfless (60) | Had a lot of potential. It sounds fairly nice but the pacing is too slow and it really went nowhere.
--Brooklyn Bridge To Chorus (60) (was 80)
--Bad Decisions (70) (was 80)
--Eternal Summer (70) | The track starts out sounding like Foster ... read more
(EDIT) (was 90) Know what? It's time. I've spent long enough being overly picky. This is becoming my first 100 rating on an album.
I can't describe how important this album is to me. It is SO fucking good. TOP finally learned from all their mistakes and made this blessed piece of work. I really don't know if they will ever be able to top this.
--yankee and the brave (ep. 4) (90) My first RTJ album. Why did I wait this long?
--ooh la la (80)
--out of site (80) | This fucking beat is pure ear candy. Just w o w.
--holy calamafuck (70)
--goonies vs. E.T. (60)
--walking in the snow (80)
--JU$T (80)
--never look back (80)
--the ground below (90)
--pulling the pin (60)
--a few words for the firing squad (radiation) (90) | INXS sample? Best Track on the album, though that ending was a lil weird.
It's probably the nostalgia but man I still fucking love this song so much.
It's fucking solid. I'm so happy he was able to "end his career" off on a high note. This is truly a worthy successor to Under Pressure.
It may be an unpopular opinion but I think this album is a bit better than Under Pressure.
--Intro (60) | This album deserves a better intro.
--Soul Food (90)
--I'm Gone (80)
--Gang Related (80) | Tf, I used to hate the beat in this so much but it grew on me quite a bit.
--Buried Alive (90) | Ngl, it's so close to 100 but it drags just a bit too much toward the end.
--Bounce (90) | Just like Gang Related, I used to not like this track. Man that changed. The instrumental sounds so sick and menacing.
--Growing Pains III (80)
--Never Enough (90)
--Metropolis (80) | Great song but that ... read more
I'm not even guilty for giving this a 100. It's easily one of the best mainstream pop songs of the 2000s.
It's not bad. The instrumental is really great but the lyrics are all over the place. Cudi flows well, Eminem on the other hand, not so much.
Haunting and majestic tune. I love the hell out of this song. It's a shame Muse doesn't make music this great anymore.
In similar fashion to The Beatles, they let the drummer sing the vocals on this one. It makes me happy to finally hear Cole on the mic. His voice is not bad but he's a bit boring by himself and sounds much better while being backed by his band-mates.
I also love the slightly punchy and electronic change to the instrumental. They're making it their own without butchering it.
Go support this track. All the proceeds from it go to Feeding America.
