Making albums based on sadness is a pretty common theme in most genres, especially when it comes to ambient music and shoegaze. I was expecting something dark, and that's just what I got, but this feels a little overkill at times. I get that Hobbes was likely going through a bad time but tracks like Fear of God and Grant feel a little redundant here, like the artist's only goal while writing this is to make it sound as depressing as possible. Jethro's breakthrough album deserves every bit of the praise that it gets, and I'm convinced that anyone who claims they don't like it just got dumbfounded when they heard Ian Anderson's flute solos.
