d4vd - There Goes My Baby
NR

why the fuck does the girl on the cover look like celeste. this guy's so fucking cooked bro I swear.

Eloy - Ocean
83

neato mcbeato prog rock. the vocals are eh but the instrumentals are absolute fire. poseidon's creation is just such a banger btw. the overall groove and move of this record is really cool as well. the bass lines are good, the synth work is pretty good for a late 70's prog album, the guitars are great, and the drumming is just absolute heat. I enjoyed this for the most part even though some parts just dragged on for way too long. like the last track. it's not bad at all I just ... read more

This Heat - Health and Efficiency
90

I'm rating this a 90 solely because of health and efficiency (which is a 10/10 song). the other song a lil boring. but that first track is just absolutely crazy. it can range from groovy to repetitive and demented very fast. really good.

favorite tracks: health and efficiency
least favorite tracks: graphic/varispeed

Maruja - Pain to Power

I'm about to get off the bus rn but holy shit this album was beautiful. I'll edit this later.

edit: this is in the top 5 albums of 2025 and it aint number 5. every song is just so good and hard-hitting while being beautiful in their own ways. the messages being portrayed in this are so touching. and those lush ass instrumentals that can switch from gorgeous to hard-hitting and SMACKING on a dime are incredible. one of the best of this year hands down.

Modern Bison - I Could've Had a Rustic Pagoda

some parts of this felt very derivative and dull but I'm not saying this was half bad. some parts were more boring than other like the last 3 minutes of battered cod. that song was pretty good until it had these people talking in reverse so I just skipped it. not bad but just dull at times. that cover is badass tho. (I also like how the fifth track sounds like you're in a pub while there's a band playing in it.)

favorite tracks: draw swords, matches, battered cod (not the last 3 ... read more

this was pretty awesome sauce. the name of this band is a lil literal if u guys catch my schwingle.

The Juice Is Okay - Madame Blueberry's Fundamental Circus
86

this was a pretty neat concept album that sounded almost EXACTLY like hellfire by black midi. the second half does feel a lil samey at times and it takes me out of the album at times but overall I had a decent amount of fun listening to this. might relisten eventually.

favorite tracks: sparkling pink 13, baloo bear's bluegrass ditty, prodigious snake charmer, you're not original, dandelion tamers, thrilling tightrope act, blow-off

this album was honestly just so joyful to listen to bro. vocals were good, instrumentals were phenomenal, and everything just sounded like a good time.

one of the nicest and most pleasant songs I've listened to.

The Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to Die
99

one of the most iconic pieces of music and music history as a whole. every beat on here is so damn smooth, beautiful, and BANGIN. the flow and lyricism are top notch in here. the only thing that isn't making this a 100 for me is that weird ass interlude smack dab in the middle of the album. also that closing track might be one of the deepest and darkest closing tracks I've ever heard. those last 20 seconds are crazy. amazing and iconic album that will stand the test of time as an ... read more

White Ward - Love Exchange Failure
95

very unique blend of dark jazz and straight up black metal. neat and coolio ass album that pretty much stays consistent through the run time. the title track is a 10/10 btw. I also wanna know the sample of the lady screaming in the very end of uncanny delusions. shit creepy.

favorite tracks: love exchange failure, poisonous flowers of violence, dead heart confession, surfaces and depths, uncanny delusions
least favorite tracks: shelter

Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come
95

this was really good and well done. the way this switches from hardcore punk to jazz and then even IDM at times is cool as hell. and it all feels very cohesive and well-made. the production and mixing on this is really good as well and it makes the album not sound like it dropped in 1998. great great album.

favorite tracks: worms of the senses/faculties of the skull, liberation frequency, the deadly rhythm, bruitist pome #5, new noise, refused are fucking dead

Kayo Dot - Choirs of the Eye

I liked most of it. some parts were a lil top slpw but the payoff to those slow parts make up for it. this album is strange to say the least. weird ass poems with dark jazz music in the background. then it building to some hard-hitting metal. the singing in this has so much range. it goes from really soft or just speaking poems to screeching gutteral metal vocals. very good album and I recommend most metal listeners it.

favorite tracks: a pitcher of summer, the manifold curiosity, the ... read more

Songs: Ohia - The Magnolia Electric Co.

note: some of the tracks named in this are gonna be from the deluxe version since those bonus tracks are great.

I have always disliked country since I was a baby because of how samey every song is. the songs in here ABSOLUTELY are country but the thing is that this album sounds like country if it was good. the vocals from the late jason molina give such a raw feel to this album. they're so nice. the instrumentation is very slow most of the time and it sounds really good. the two bonus ... read more
