A decent early thug tape, with some aggressive tracks that are fun and honestly really good, but just drowned out by the rest of the mediocrity here
Best song: F Cancer
Worst song: Family
A slightly more sophisticated gunna sound than that of the original, but still poor mixing, delivery and repetitive beats make for another boring gunna experience
Best song: YSL
Worst song: Money Talking
Gunna old catalogue is SO distinguishable from the new stuff because this shit sounds like it was recorded under his bed on an iPhone 4 with mixing done by his friends 12 year old cousin who’s only experience is playing with one of those kids trolleys that play music when you press the flashing buttons
Best song: Outta Sight Outta Mind
Worst song: Young Individual
A tiring ep to listen to that’s 7 songs long yet still puts me to sleep, Gunnas drip or drown really goes to show how low quality some of his music turns out to be, with not a single notable highlight here
Best song: Drip Or Drown
Worst song: Invest
A sleeper from gunna as expected but a little less dull than some of his other stuff, with a water type theme coming across throughout some of the album amongst the generic trap sounds the rest maintains
Best song: Who You Foolin
Worst song: Big Shot
A very strong album from Rick here; very focused on the heavy production that his delivery pairs SO well with, with a stacked feature list that all compete to outperform each other so well
Went into this not expecting much but it turned out surprisingly well
Best song: Live Fast, Die Young
Worst song: No. 1
Without a doubt pops best work, this album is a great showing of the New York drill genre and his potential as an artist, and it’s such a shame we won’t hear from him anymore because the beats and his delivery make for a unique and intoxicating listen
Best song: Dior
Worst song: She Got A Thing
A good album overall from baby keem, with some really interesting beats and some great delivery making for a good experience overall, but he’s still got a gap to close before escaping the shadow cast over him
Also I don’t imagine this will be a hugely memorable set of songs for me at least so that’s one of the drawbacks with this thing
Best song: HONEST
Worst song: TOP RAMEN
Overall just a decent Don project, with some nice vocals as expected from him and some songs that hit hard but on the whole there’s too many strange beats on here that don’t do much of anything to put it any higher
Best song: Cardigan
Worst song: Company
While this album wasn’t expected to be great, it still managed to let me down somehow by being so basic of a trap album that seems to lean in the direction of SFTSAFTM but in a way that just SEVERELY overstays its welcome
The album doesn’t need to be over an hour to be engaging and I don’t get why specifically Migos didn’t get that
Best song: Need It
Worst song: Birthday
A very strong mixtape from Travis, showing what his intentions were with rodeo by keeping this mixtape energetic and fun but not going all out quite yet-honestly a really good introduction to what would be one of the most prolific trap albums of all time
Best song: Mamacita
Worst song: BACC
I have to give credit where it’s due gunna is INSANELY consistent but the only issue is that this consistency is just mid over and over and over again back to back, with only a few standouts on this album and luckily no extreme lows
Best song: back to the moon
Worst song: i was just thinking
A decent Uzi project, the alien type sound here pays off for him with some really ascendant beats here and there and solid performances throughout, but some songs just throw me off man
Best song: Homecoming
Worst song: You Better Move
A very boring album from gunna somewhat unsurprisingly, with the whole record severely suffering after the first few songs and with almost the exact same beat being provided 20 times in a row
Best song: one of wun
Worst song: life’s changing
My first exposure to Ferg and probably my last for a while, this ep feels like just a disappointing attempt at creating a Rocky type experience to me, with it seeming more like a cash grab than a genuine attempt to make music
Best song: Dreams, Fairytales, Fantasies
Worst song: Wigs
A very strong trap collab album, with metro 21 and offset all providing their best for this thing and the chopping back and forth between 21 and offset is so smooth and make for one of my favourite collab albums of all time
Best song: Ghostface Killers
Worst song: Disrespectful
While I used to praise this thing, I think once you expose yourself more to rap tecca becomes more and more unremarkable, and this album is an example of something plain that doesn’t age too well
Best song: Ransom Remix
Worst song: Weatherman
A pretty strong album from JayZ and Beyoncé here- both match each other nicely across the album and neither outshine the other, making for a sophisticated back and forth with some strange but accepted Migos adlibs
Best song: SUMMER
Worst song: NICE
