I have a friend obsessed with this band and he essentially sold it as prog rock/alternate rock and while I can see the influences, this album is essentially jazz fusion and is reminiscent of bands like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and even Snarky Puppy at points. Really enjoyed this album even though it was a lot different to what I expected
Honestly has some of their best work, so much so that if they kept about 11 of these tracks it would be a 95 album. Unfortunately much of the rest is bad or generic (Wild Honey Pie is atrocious).
Better Beatles Tracklist:
1. Back in the U.S.S.R.
2. Dear Prudence
3. Glass Onion
4. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
5. Happiness is a Warm Gun
6. I'm So Tired
7. Blackbird (Best song)
8. Helter Skelter
9. Revolution 9
10. Revolution 1
11. Good Night
The 70's couldn't come quicker, I'm sick of psychedelic music at the moment and none of it is especially imaginitive
It's innovative and interesting to listen to but I struggle to connect to it. Comparisons can easily be made to Bjork but there's something that this album is missing compared to Bjorks music.
Not as good as Undercurrent but still pretty fun to listen to
Just imagine I wrote something interesting and insightful for this review and you laughed
Couldn't find just rhapsody in blue so rated this instead (after listening to an american in paris). Rhapsody alone would be 100.
There's some amazing tracks here. Didn't blow me away as an album (why it can't really be higher than a 75) but definitely some incredible guitar work and songwriting
3 albums of the doors and I think I've listened to them enough to convincingly say that they're the most overrated band in history. Their music is boring and feels like it has no influence on anything afterwards, nothing stands out compared to the other classic bands of the time. Even if I don't like a popular band I can usually still see why they're popular whereas this I just can't see why they're considered classics.
The title track is definitely one of the best songs of the 60's so far
So far most of the must hear classics from the 60s are just really boring and don't hold up well in the modern era of music as nothing interesting happens. Hazy Shade of Winter is really the only song worth listening to.
There is absolutely no reason for a song to be 18 minutes long
I don't even know what to say, I wasn't expecting to like this album. It just has a really nice vibe
1 more allbum till I never have to listen to Bob Dylan again. After this album, it has become clear that compared to all the other music of this year, this remains bland and uninspired, released years later than it should have as it has quickly outdated itself even within the year of release.
Fables of Faubus being one of the lowest on this album when not only is it significantly more interesting than everything else, it's one of the best jazz pieces of this era
Listening to albums in release order makes you really see the slow progression and movements of music that start to happen and with the knowledge of where music goes in the future you can start seeing that this is the early development of that music
