Everything surrounding this album, the aesthetic of the "HARDSTONE PSYCHO", is simply not reflected well at all in the music. There are no thematic elements tying anything together. As my first foray into Atmospheric black metal music and my first time listening to black metal in general, I was pleasantly surprised.
However, I don't know how much of my enjoyment of this album comes from the fact that Panopticon's music is genuinely great or whether it's just the novelty of the genre that I find alluring.
His rapping is insufferable and only 1 in every 5 beats is actually any good.
Second half definitely picks up the pace though, that dubstep shit was awful.
This is gonna be impossible to listen to when someone close to me eventually dies
I really like this album but I can't listen to it in its entirety in any way other than as background music.
This is my personal favorite pixar movie and one of my favorite movies period, but I was still astounded by how well the soundtrack holds up outside the context of the movie
Utopia is such a conflicting album for me because, on one hand, the production is incredible and some of the best in modern trap, but on the other hand, it contains some of the most vapid and nothing writing Travis has ever penned. I really enjoy this new Darksynth direction NIN have been going in recently (like on the Tron soundtrack), but I don't think any song on this specific album is on the same level as their original counter part. Fun detour though as we wait for a proper return.
WLFGRL is like if they put a wolf and a girl together and then removed all the vowels.
This is the only truly perfect album. Not a single flaw or critique I can levy against it, not a single thing I don't love or think isn't the best it could be. I'm not even a massive kendrick fan but this album is undeniable.
Feel Good Inc. is legitimately a good song and the rest of the tracklist isn't awful but the instrumentals are too plain and there's hardly any rhythm or fun in most of the songs.
I don't think this is overrated, I think that I just don't get it.
