Nmesh - Dream Sequins®

This Album is a trip and a half in the best way possible.

Absolutely hypnotic atmosphere, gorgeous usage of SO MANY SAMPLES,unreal ambience, and surrealness from another galaxy. Shit shit makes you trip balls while staying sober AF at the same time. I have heard Nmesh songs here and there and have loved everything I have heard but listening to a whole ass album is another level of WTF am I listening to and why is it so fucking amazing??? This would EASILY be a 100 but a song to two didn't ... read more

Thank you Snowyfighter for reaching out to me!

Last year you also reached out for Midnight Session's "Empty Homes in Blue Light" and I was very impressed by the quality of that album! I'll be nice and not have that influence my completely neutral expectations for this one. I am open to whatever surprises in store if there are any. I am very excited to dive into this EP so let's get to it already!

Hello Meteor - Said Ghosts

100->75 I kinda over hyped this Album on my initial listen. It's a good album but with how hard I got into the experience of the album I let my emotions overwhelm my critical judgement. I try to hold my hundreds to a standard and on multiple listens unfortunately this album failed to reach them despite still being a very good album from one of my favorite vaporwave artists.

Erythrite Throne - Bleeding Dark Forest Mysticism Upon the Ivory Crown

I haven't listened to a dungeon synth album in a while and seeing this on my recommendations got me excited to revisit the genre once more. Too bad this is a pretty monotonous slog of an album that has none of the qualities that I enjoy out of the genre...

Not Marshall - Every Lost Soul In The Otherworld
75

When I was listening to the singles put out before the release of this album I wasn't really capturing what about this is so personal to Marshall, but now with the full release and reveal of the tracklist... Yeah that shit is VERY personal. It speaks of a lot of introspection and reflection of your relationships that has shaped the person you are today. It also has conclusions of strange questions you may have been mulling over in the back of your mind for who knows how long. And once you found ... read more

Had this album show up on my recommendations page here on this site. It's certainly something to be sure.

sign crushes motorist - Hurting

Sad boi hours to rot in bed to. Plus it's such a fodder for depression core tiktoks. It's really OneNote shit and doesn't have any use beyond what I just talked about. There's really not much to care about this album unless you're in that mood in the late night hour when life is just not going your way. If that's the case tho then this shit just hits different but for your mental health please don't linger in this kind of headspace too long cause it can really start to damage your well being.

Grimes - Geidi Primes
55

At least it's better than the Nightcore edition. It's a lot more coherent and you can tell what it's going for. I may not really like or care for these experimental tracks but like other people have said it shows a lot of potential and signs of greater things to come which as we know have definitely come to fruition. It's pretty raw but with tracks like "Venus in Fleurs", "grisgris", we got at least something to appreciate with this album.

Grimes - Geidi Primes (Nightcore Edition)

While this is an obvious cash grab taking advantage of Dune par 2 coming out today and is just a lazy reissue speeding up the tracks and calling it an easy pay day...

I don't really mind the reasoning behind it since it's just a reissue of an old album but I agree that Nightcore and, despite me not listening to the original LP, Geidi Primes really doesn't mix that well. I can hear some solid tunes in here but its morphed into an almost unrecognizable mess that is just unnecessary and brings an ... read more

Yes, that is indeed a stretched out and open globe with a nice pillow supporting a random breast with a mouth spewing out of it's nipple.

While I like Psychedelia and I like pop, they kinda don't mesh together all that well for me. I honestly would have enjoyed this album more if it leaned more into the Psych or the pop cause it mostly doesn't land for me the way that it is. Still there's a number of tracks that I found enjoyable enough to recommend. It just doesn't hold up to the awesome ... read more

Kagami Smile - Antithesis of Human
50

It's been a number of months since I have listened to a Kagami Smile album and it's nice to know that with this drawn out continuation of my listen through of their vast discography they are still putting drawn out ambient tracks that are pleasant enough but lack any substance for me to give a shit about them. There's nothing wrong about the album don't get me wrong but I found nothing interesting about this either.

Professor Creepshow - Chasing Horizons

Generic but good jazzy hip hop instrumentals: The Album. It doesn't really step out of it's comfort zone and prefers to double down on the chill vibes throughout the album. This resulting on me enjoying individual tracks more than the overall album experience. So while there is plenty of enjoyment to be had, don't be expected to be whisked into any sonic adventures.

Thao & the Get Down Stay Down - Temple

You can describe this as a jazzy dreamlike album. It was an interesting listen since I don't hear this kind of stuff very often. Then it took a turn to more familiar territory with some indie pop and with the last three tracks I was pretty impressed with. I still found the album to be pretty ok with a great finish. I found even the more mediocre stuff interesting so it's all worth a listen to see if you jibe with it. Decent stuff overall.

It may not be as consistent or grandiose as some of my more favored albums but it still has such fascinating qualities such as the smartly crafted production that is a very satisfying listen and the thought provoking lyricism that sends your mind off into paths of thought that aren't often traversed. I liked this album and what it has offered me and while I hoped it to be something more than what it was, I am still very happy with the gems it does offer and the endless replay value they ... read more

I have relistened to this a number of times over the months and while it's still a quality listen, I no longer think of it as a frontrunner for my AOTY. Great Album though! Whoa dude. This might be your best effort to date! This shit had my ass from the get go and only tightened it's grip as it went along! That last part was from another universe it was so mystifying! Man I was looking forward to the album before but now I might genuinely be hyped for it after listening to this track!

About the title it really gave a jolt of sadness when the message it provided really sunk in. You are not in a good place mentally and the presence of a loved one that has helped ... read more

"@AidenBowe45 I am likely not the intended audience since I am a grown ass 26 year old listening to these lyrics. I may not be fully aware of what the kiddos are into these days, but when I was an edgy teenager in middle school, shit like this banged for the girlies."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. Definitely takes an experienced or a very open ear to truly "get it." Not everyone does, but the ones that do praise this shit up and down like I do."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."

On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."

On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
