Axolotl - Artezska

Thanks Remi for reaching out to me and letting me know about this single!

Man this is just pretty. From the haunting melancholic piano to the soft strings. The light percussion to the angelic vocals. It's all very pleasant on the ears and I got mesmerized over the beauty of it all quite easily. It's a beautiful track and I am very appreciative that I was made aware of it! If you are planning on making a whole album with this general feel to it be sure to let me know cause I will be all over it!

I like it. The Ambience tracks are a vibe. The other stuff is ok, but I don't think this album needed them tbh. It's mostly great tho! Thanks Spotify for recommending this!

Prince and The Revolution - Purple Rain

Yeah just crucify me already cause I think my unpopular opinions may be crossing a line with this one. As much as I wanted to love this like the rest of y'all I couldn't help but see this as over exuberant fluff that doesn't swell my emotions one way or the either. I just didn't get it or the hype surrounding it. I know Prince is a revolution for the pop genre with a ton of influence blah blah blah but he just didn't capture this stubborn fish that managed to escape his large net. I am happy ... read more

It's time to dust off the forty year old T-shirt and let that hair go wild cause IT'S TIME to get into the hellish pit and go absolutely NUTS to the album that brought metal into the mainstream!

Alright just got back from a two hour walk listening to the chilliest of music like I am half asleep RN the vibes and the spring birds soothed me that hard. So to remedy that and jolt some energy into my lethargic ass let's check out some Metallica!

Now I have been harsh on thrash metal in the past ... read more

Very nice.

You just can't go wrong with some smooth Instrumentation with a silky voice backing it. I mean yeah that's basically all that needs to be said.

Iron Maiden - Powerslave

While I disagree with those that say this is Iron Maiden's best album, it's still damn solid and has huge highlights that can proudly stand as amongst their best work. It has a strong start and a stunning finish but the middle part of the album just couldn't hold up for me. They were ok but nothing that impressed me. Shout out to the final two tracks though. Holy shit them alone brings this album to almost greatness as they are some of the finest metal I have ever heard no joke. Regardless I ... read more

I mostly didn't care for this. The multiple hardcore punk tracks bleed into each other and I found nothing of interest. The album did have a surprisingly good end with the last few tracks being memorable and engaging listens. Still though my overall feelings of this album is still middling despite that strong ending.

This Album's whimsy levels are fucking off the charts. It's like it's straight from a fantasy world that found it's way into this side of reality and many people's minds here have completely incapacitated in response to the sheer wondrous spirit this collection of tracks possess.

So if you want to be transported into a whimsical fantasy land full of fairies and unicorns and kind witches and wizards bestowing their wisdom gathered through the centuries then I highly recommend this one hell ... read more

Steve Roach - Structures from Silence

This is certainly space music. While it's certainly pretty and really captures the vastness and empty void that is 99.99999+% of our universe, it looses it's luster pretty quickly for me. It's still just empty space with little to no substance.

Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime

Funky guitar+Sexy bass+ some fun drumming+ solid singing with a message to send= a good time.

I mean it's a bunch of short post- punk tracks that does their job well with the limited time they have to work with. Plus with there being so many of them there should be something in here for everyone to enjoy. What impresses me is how it manages to stay fresh throughout the double album length of time I was certain that I was going to get tired of it. While it was a lil hit or miss throughout it ... read more

I found this to be pretty generic. Nothing against it but nothing about it appealed to me.

Charly García - Piano Bar

Very solid. While Garcia still hasn't reached the heights of when I had my first Impressions of him he recovered quite nicely from the disappointing album he last offered. Again it's all solid stuff here but nothing that brings it to that next level unfortunately.

Well I am deep in love with this gorgeous production. That combined with the sweet angelic voice of Miharu Koshi It just makes for an unforgettable time from this stupid underrated album. Other than like one song that was a bit underwhelming this was front to back synthpop perfection. If you're a fan of the genre than I HIGHLY encourage you to check this out!!!

Manuel Göttsching - E2-E4

This album should be listened in full cause it's all one cohesive piece and it feels like a tragedy to split it up into individual tracks. So as an overall package I enjoyed myself with it. It didn't blow my mind or anything with how it evolved throughout the experience was truly satisfying!

Bruce Springsteen - Born in the U.S.A.

Damn. Nobody puts the heart in heartland rock quite like Bruce does. While I honestly don't care much for the overplayed and often misunderstood Born in the USA, and the production abandons the stripped back feeling of Nebraska this is still Bruce Springsteen at his finest. The writing is as strong as ever and his voice just as powerful. While Nebraska might still be my personal favorite record I can't deny that this is right up there with it. It's way too good and way too consistent!

Ever since I learned to appreciate Ambience I have grown more impressed with the father of the Genre the more I hear his work. Of course he had help from Harold Budd and then working together just hits the right spot. How did they make minimalist piano and synths for fourth minutes that fucking engaging I'll never know but damn did I have such a pleasant time with this.

On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. Definitely takes an experienced or a very open ear to truly "get it." Not everyone does, but the ones that do praise this shit up and down like I do."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."

On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."

On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
