Olivia Rodrigo - Can't Catch Me Now (from The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes)
90

Alright new single by Olivia! Looks to be a part of the soundtrack of the upcoming Hunger games movie. Honestly that sounds like an honor to have a small part of the continuation of an iconic series of movies inspired by the book series that was all over the place back when I was in middle school. She might have grown up in elementary school with all of her friends talking about this cool book that kids her age most definitely weren't old enough to read. Or she discovered this franchise by the ... read more

Juan Berdugo - feel something
70

I was listening to "Stargazing" by Tayla getting that 90's nostalgia flowing when I ran into my shoutbox where @johnb3g was there asking me if I could listen to his new single. And I am more than happy to hear what you have to offer.

So here we have "Feel Something" from Juan Berdugo. The first thing that stuck out to me is the rich production with a whimsical atmosphere with a hint of weird-core sprinkled in. Love the acoustic mixed with the distorted guitars. It is such ... read more

高中正義 [Masayoshi Takanaka] - ALONE

500th review!

Takanaka honestly is ridiculously amazing at guitar. The only other person that can make that instrument sing as well as he does is Hendrix himself. I never fail to be absolutely floored by this man's skill. It also helps that the music is just so damn enjoyable and pleasing to the ears! His rise to be amongst my favorite artists has been quite the marvel to witness. I probably need to relisten to the albums that I wasn't as impressed by, cause now that I truly see just how ... read more

Uhh...

It's good stuff I really like it. There's a good amount of variety within this album and it's not often that you get pretty bored of a certain track. This is honestly a must listen track its such an interesting listen so I highly encourage you to check this out!

Rick James - Street Songs

Other than the classic "Super Freak and the soulful "Fire And Desire" there wasn't much here that was all that impressive.

Gang of Four - Solid Gold
50

Another mediocre punk album to add to the ever growing pile.

Ozzy Osbourne - Diary of a Madman
85

Ozzy is such a fucking GOAT!

The only reason that the rating isn't higher than it already is because it took a while for me to warm up to this album especially right after listening to one that bored me half to death. So it took a few songs for the Ozzy magic for take effect, but once it did I was all over it! This is a fantastic Metal from the legend himself that has yet to really miss for me. Highly recommend if you haven't checked this out yet!

Venom - Welcome to Hell

Thrash metal is fucking mid AF 99% of the time and I will always irrationally dislike this album for being a major influence for the metal subgenre that I couldn't care less for. ( With exceptions but that for another day.) I was literally like 😐 the entire time listening to this bore fest. I seriously don't get the appeal, it doesn't energize or even interests me in the slightest. I liked the fucking intermission, that's it.

Turn off that Fucking Mariah Carey song and tear down the damn Christmas decorations you fuckin heathens! It's still spooky season damnit! 😭

Who knew that if you made reggaeton spooky with some cheesy intros you get a fantastic Halloween album out of it! It does get a bit repetitive near the back half of it and the charm was wearing off on me, but some of these songs still hold up regardless! So if you're not yet ready for Christmas I got a perfect spooky album for you to enjoy in the ... read more

Another damn solid effort from Rita Lee with some real fun songs and others that are just fine but doesn't do much for me.

How did they nail my mating call at the very end though? I need to look out for recorders for the next season can't have any competition stealing my secret weapon.

This was an interesting listen to say the least, you definitely won't get bored with this album. Highlights include the opener, "The Dynasty" with it's improvisational piano and bangos. Mirror Mirror got a strange jazzy vibe to it that I fuck with. And the album finishes off with my mating call. So if you get a bit horny ... read more

I think I understand why I generally don't care for punk. It sounds like edgy angsty teenagers trying to be cool but failing way to hard not to be kinda pitiful. I am hardly ever convinced that these bands are even serious about their complaints half the time.

I feel like an annoyed parent that's getting very tempted to breakup the garage band before they burst my head open. My child is SO grounded for this malarkey.

Blue Öyster Cult - Fire of Unknown Origin
85

A great album with a phenomenal back half.

I love when rock bands reminds of The Beatles cause it's such a rare magic the goats had that whenever someone else manages to have hints and glimmers of the sheer creative mastery of my favorite band ever depending on the day ( Sometimes Pink Floyd are just too good to deny.) I can't help but beam a large smile in response. This happened on the jaw droppingly amazing b-side to this tracklist. It was hit after hit after hit! The front half is good but ... read more

Adolescents - Adolescents

Yup that's certainly a punk album. I liked Amoeba like everyone else here, but nothing else garnered my attention.

Luther Vandross - Never Too Much
90

As the world quickly moves on from disco this lad keeps the spirit alive with his soulful voice and that fucking bass line being way too funky for it's own good. This album is thoroughly enjoyable and I am so happy that the power of the boogie is still alive in 1981.

Recommendations:
- Never too Much
- Sugar and Spice (I found me a Girl)
- I've been Working
- She's a Super Lady
- You Stopped Loving Me
- A House is Not a Home

The Human League - Dare

If it wasn't obvious before, we are definitely in the 80's now. Man this has like so many iconic and influencing synths all over this and the singing is just hard coded for the 80's. It reminds me of David Bowie at times as well. This shit is super enjoyable if you like the classic 80's sound. Just jammed pack full of the good shit. It took a while for me to warm up to it but once I got hot there was nothing that could cool me off. Highly recommend you check this out, just be a bit patient if ... read more

大滝詠一 [Eiichi Ohtaki] - A LONG VACATION

Other than the last two songs this album was a pretty easy skip.
But please don't miss out on "fun x4" and "Saraba Siberian Railroad". It's like they are on a completely different album.

"@AidenBowe45 He reminds of Paul McCartney at points with how passionately he sings and the instrumental goes crazy. It's a fun album for sure!"
On Muddy Waters - After the Rain
"@AidenBowe45 I honestly am just too familiar with this kind of style of straightforward Blues, sure it's classic but I find it stale and uninteresting especially compared to other styles that bring more to the table of the genre that makes for more engaging listening."
On Herbie Hancock - Fat Albert Rotunda
"@AidenBowe45 Groovy, funky and takes you on a ride. I don't remember if it goes wildly off the track but I wouldn't be surprised if it did with an artist like Hancock at the wheel."

On Amon Düül II - Phallus Dei

On Eyeliner - Buy Now
"@AidenBowe45 I mean it's not the definitive vaporwave experience, but if you're a fan of the genre then there's definitely some solid stuff here."
On girl in red - if i could make it go quiet
"@AidenBowe45 I am likely not the intended audience since I am a grown ass 26 year old listening to these lyrics. I may not be fully aware of what the kiddos are into these days, but when I was an edgy teenager in middle school, shit like this banged for the girlies."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. Definitely takes an experienced or a very open ear to truly "get it." Not everyone does, but the ones that do praise this shit up and down like I do."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."
On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor You mentioned that across the board I have wild takes, are there more recent examples that raises your eyebrows?"
On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."
On Drake - Scorpion
"@Triplo Thanks! I don't often have something to say about an album these days past a standard passing observation, but popular releases from the 2010s are a good way to get be talking at least a little bit."
On Peter Gabriel - Peter Gabriel
"@RSmithFan What I meant was that this was the first album that felt like it was made in the eighties. Don't know why I phrased it that way either."
On Not Marshall - FRIDAY NIGHT A DRESS2IMPRESS MODEL HAS TO SHOW OFF HER NEW AFRO HAIRSTYLE
"@engar where? what? I don't see anything eyebrow raising."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw 👍 Whatever you say bud. I'll keep on doing what I do regardless of your berating."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
