Blackbraid - Blackbraid II

Yeah I don't care about this. Just not impressed in the slightest.

ANOHNI and the Johnsons - My Back Was a Bridge for You to Cross

Is it a sin in that this was pretty whelming to me? Like everyone is raving over how it's so emotional and impactful and I am just sitting here listening to it with little to no reaction. The very occasional guitar perked me up a bit but those moments were very brief.

Now I don't really pay attention to lyrics 99% of the time, so the meat of the album probably passed me by while I was casually listening to this out of curiosity over why everyone likes it so much.

So I am willing to bet that ... read more

One day I was bored on YouTube and went to the forbidden trending music tab. Dakiti by Bad Bunny had like a ludicrous amount of views and it was uploaded like a few days prior. So out of curiosity I checked it out to see what all the hoopla was about. It blew my mind. I never knew Latino music without the generic Latino production that I got bored of after listening to despacito for the fifth time against my will on the radio would be THAT good. This album is basically Dakiti's expanded ... read more

Thank you @dirediredock for recommending this to me!

I have mentioned before in my review of their "Humanz" album that I have already listened to the entire Discography of Gorillaz. And I honestly don't remember much out of this one. I remember having Super Fast Jellyfish Stuck in my head for like a week, but other than that nothing.

I see that this is everyone's favorite album claiming to expand upon the greatness of Demon days. I remember liking Demon days a lot more than this ... read more

Thank you so much @dirediredock for recommending this to me!!!

I love me some weirdcore bullshit!

This is the good shit you get from the guy you never would expect possessing anything like that. He gives you two cause he already knows you'll be hooked. But only this time. Next time you're paying full price!

Particular highlights:

I like how the 5th track gives a break from the delirium and is just pure vibes

The later half of "CD Factory"

I absolutely love the 8th track! Very ... read more

Thanks again @dirediredock for recommending this. I got two more recommendations from him FYI.

He said that this album has "some of the best sampled production to date" and I am sorry to say that while I can agree generally with that claim. Its well produced and the samples are smartly placed. I still think this album was pretty underwhelming.

I only really enjoyed "Just to be needed" and the closer "RIP". Other wise I generally didn't really care about what I ... read more

Thank you @dirediredock for the recommendation!

You know when you are just flabbergasted by how ridiculously good an album is that you just don't know how to praise it properly? That's me after listening to this album. It's RIDICULOUSLY GOOD borderline ABSURD!

I'm just speechless. Jaw on the floor speechless. Music is just amazing isn't it?

Now it's a 95 because the first two songs didn't quite hit but Jesus Christ the rest of the album is....fuck I don't know what to say. You NEED to ... read more

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Ladyland

I had a religious experience the first time I heard this. I am having a religious experience listening to it today.

Jimi Hendrix, the guitar god himself, has me converted.

Solid album.

There's a good amount of misses, but there's a good amount that just hits the sweet spot. Man I will say that MAN can they sing. I wish I had that soulful of a voice.

Highlights:(Deluxe version of the album FYI)

- We will Remember
- Stranger
- Innocence
- In Loving Memory
- Loyalty

PJ Harvey - I Inside the Old Year Dying

This album is brought to you by: Wordle! ( Seriously she says it like half a dozen times for whatever reason.)

WOW that was honestly pretty great!

I love how it consistently transports me into a strange fantasy world set on the woods of England. The ethereal atmosphere is so thick in this one, and he lyrics bring up images that enhances this.

I really like the majority of this album but particular highlights for me are:

- The Nether Edge
- All Souls
- I Inside the Old I Dying

Pink Floyd - Animals

The Beatles may have my Favorite album of all time, but Pink Floyd will be REAL hard to beat as my favorite band of all time. They are just TOO GOOD!!!!

David Bowie - Low

Who knew that my favorite ambient artist would be David Bowie of all people???

Like OMG this shit is SO FUCKING GOOD! If the entire album was ambience it might just be my favorite Bowie album. I'm not kidding!

The other parts of the album are pretty hit or miss but is never dull. So props for that.

I need more David Bowie Ambience in my life

David Bowie - "Heroes"

I VASTLY preferred the second half of this album. If Bowie just made an ambient album with the occasional song where he actually sings, then I would have a much better overall experience with this album. I don't know what it was about the first half, I just couldn't bring myself to care about it untill "Blackout". From that song forward I was thoroughly enjoying myself.

"Whoa there's a lot of hype over this song."

*Listens for the first two minutes*

Liking the weird/ liminal feelings of this. Like this would so fit into a weird core playlist.

*The two minute change happens*

WHOA that was out of nowhere! Now things are a bit more exciting while keeping the strange vibes flowing. This is quite the unique experience.

*The four minute change happens*

I enjoyed their last album, and this is the one that gets all of the attention. So let's see if this album holds up to the hype...

Second Hand News-
It's ok

Dreams-
The chorus was the only part that I was familiar with before this listen, and it's really the only part I care about. Even if it's just because I am familiar with it.

Never Going Back Again-
Real simple tune that's a pleasant listen. Don't like that the guitar drowns out the harmony tho.

Nothing really connected with me until the album got to "Only the Good die young". From then on everything was clicking and I could see why this album was highly praised.

Bob Marley & The Wailers - Exodus

I am almost always pretty bored with Bob Marley. This album has the rare exception in two of their songs.

"Three little birds"is a classic and like the only Bob Marley song I was familiar with even half a year ago. It's still a nice little tune that I enjoy whenever I hear it.

"Waiting in Vain" is the most engaged I have ever been with a Bob Marley song. Wasn't expecting something to be actually be memorable but here we are. I recommend you check this song out.

On Muddy Waters - After the Rain

"@AidenBowe45 I am likely not the intended audience since I am a grown ass 26 year old listening to these lyrics. I may not be fully aware of what the kiddos are into these days, but when I was an edgy teenager in middle school, shit like this banged for the girlies."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. Definitely takes an experienced or a very open ear to truly "get it." Not everyone does, but the ones that do praise this shit up and down like I do."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."

On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."

On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw 👍 Whatever you say bud. I'll keep on doing what I do regardless of your berating."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
