One of my favorite albums from Swans' discography. An incredibly harsh and polarizing album that pulls the listener into this disgusting world where people are these murderous monsters who only care about their own selfish needs. It's a near perfect album that I would recommend to anyone who's interested in noise rock and the no wave movement.
Fav Tracks: Stay Here, Blackout, Power for Power, Freak, Right Wrong, Thank you, and Wealking.
This is a really interesting album. Not only for the fact that it's listed under "Stoner Metal", but it's also really good. I don't really have that much to say or explain about this album other than you'll hear a bong rip on the 2nd track.
Favorite Tracks: Marijuanaut's Theme, Sonic Titan, Giza Butler, and The Bonatist.
It's really rough and not that great. It sucks too because Joji is certainly a talented individual who's capable of making something great. His vocals are good and sometimes he can make some great instrumentals (like xxx). But it doesn't feel interesting or entertaining at all. He really needs to improve or change his style or else he's going to remain relatively mediocre.
Favorite Track: Can't Get Over You
I'm geuinely surprised yet pleased by the quality of this EP. I was expecting a less developed version of their style proceeding ExMilitary and beyond but damn I love how rough, chaotic, and interesting it is.
All the tracks are relatively solid with interesting samples mixed with amazing instrumentals and vocals by the band. They certainly knew what they were doing even before they garnered a huge following. There's really not that much to say here other than if you're interested in hearing ... read more
I've seen a lot of people proclaim that this is a near perfect album. For me personally, this isn't the case. But at the same time, it's certainly not a mediocre album either.
The instrumentals are entertaining and the vocals are great as well. The vocals mixed with the instrumental gives a sense of dread and horror. And that's what I really like about this album in particular. And I especially like the more fast paced tracks.
It's solid and an enjoyable listen, but it's nothing too amazing. ... read more
This is an incredibly bland album to say the least. All the songs sound nearly identical to each other with no variation within the instrumentals. The vocalist is alright for the most part but what's holding her back from being exceptional is, again, the instrumentals being too identical with each other.
There's really not that much to say here other than it's not really worth listening to unless you're curious about how repetitive it is.
Favorite Tracks: Heat Wave and Deep Sea
This is quite an interesting album indeed. There's a healthy amount of solid tracks in here with great vocals, instrumentals, and production quality. But when I saw the tagging on AOTY, I was assuming it would be dubstep, eletronic, and UK Bass. There are elements of these sprinkled around through different songs but it seems more experimental than its contemporaries. This isn't to say that the album is bad at all. It's really good.
The production of the album is solid as far as I can tell. ... read more
It's quite surprising to hear such an amazing soundtrack for a video game that came out in the 90s. Compared to most video game soundtracks that I've heard, most of them don't come close to the beauty of David Wise's soundtrack for the Donkey Kong Country series.
The best way I can describe the soundtrack as a whole is a collection of atmospheric music that you would imagine hearing in a jungle or in the depths of the ocean. It's calming and relaxing to say the least while also being catchy ... read more
A relatively good instrumental EP that's entertaining to listen to. Of course, this pales in comparison to Fashion Week in terms of variety and track numbers. But if you're in the mood to listen to something while doing something else (like working, exercising, playing video games, etc), then Interview 2016 is the EP for you.
Favorite Tracks: A, B, C, and E.
