i cant rate this album on its own merrits because any humour in it is gone now. someone whos content i found so much comfort in at one point. more than anything im dissapointed. lets give a collective "fuck you" to Brad
in suprised this doesnt have the must listen status. listen im not gonna deny its great but its still really overrated and nowhere NEAR a 10/10. J cole manages to make an album that feels super safe and comforting, but as such also makes something so basic and breaking absolutely no ground that its insane to me that SOME people put it above albums like IYRTITL, TPAB, GKMC, take care or even 4YEO and friday night lights.

i've seen people call this album underrated. went back to give it another chance but no matter how much i listen this shit is still a snoozefest. without a doubt coles worst album. even KOD and MDL have some really good highlights and the only real highlight is the title track

The 80s throwback sound is done so well man
Much of Abels own fans seem to not love this album (due to most of them being trilogy-kissland glazers and dont like when Abel ventures outside of that sound) with others who arent as hardcore fans viewing this as one of/his best work. while i dont think THAT, i love this album. some of thr catchiest dance songs since the 2000's land on here (take my breath, Gasoline, how do i make you love me AND OUT OF TIME UGHHHH). multiple of the best hip hop songs of all time land on here. Heart of the city, Takeover, renegade, song cry, Izzo (H.o.v.a), the rulers back and U dont know are ALL classic tracks and this album is still skipless
