Deftones - White Pony

The bands magnum opus to many, and hey I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. this is one of my favourite albums of all time.

Following up on the foundation of their sophomore effort around the fur. both it and their debut record are without a doubt nu-metal.

this album broke the mold in their sound, both expanding on the soundscape established in around the fur and breaking new mold sonically.

this album keeps the same dark tone established in around the fur. the album follows themes of self ... read more

Quadeca - I Didn't Mean to Haunt You
98

everything from the production, songwriting, vocals and storylines makes this one of my favourite albums of all time.

not a single miss in this ENTIRE tracklist. quad gives compelling and powerful vocal performances that compliment the ethereal production.

Quadeca - SCRAPYARD
90

tied with peggy for my favourite project of 2024.

Edward Skeletrix - Museum Music
50

I mean... its not completely worthless... just kinda dissapointing after his last project

I have stuff i like about this album but I honestly think this is a big step down

Mac Miller - Balloonerism
92

so because I'm stupid I wrote this review on the leaked version of album, my fault.
even though I never regularly listened to mac before his passing (big regret of mine, but I digress) I've found myself in tears when listening to his music and thinking about what we lost and talent that this guy had. One hell of a discography, insane growth and so much talent mac left us too soon
balloonerism comes from the faces era of macs music (my favourite mac project) and this does not ... read more

The Weeknd - Hurry Up Tomorrow
98

90 -> 94 -> 96

the score for this album is criminally low, critics are so miserable. (Edit. YALL. Are miserable. This album not having the must listen tag is disgusting and yall should be ashamed of yourselves)

This isn't my favourite effort from The weeknd. That being said I do actually think it's great.

The production all around is pretty great, no complaints on that front and the features have grown on me a lot, they all work incredibly well and abel working with justice ... read more

Drake - Take Care
85

honestly as your local "not a drake fan" I'll admit, this album is fucking incredible. this album really has hit me at moments where I didnt expect it to. Marvins room is my go-to song when I'm feeling lonely, which is weirdly often.

Tyler, The Creator - IGOR
100

My number 1 album of all time. basic choice maybe? I do not care. I ADORE this album. every single track hits and it's one of the few albums I consider 100% perfect. The vocals, even though tyler isn't the greatest singer ever the pitched vocals are BEAUTIFUL. the production is gorgeous in ways I can't describe. The synths are heavenly, the drums are hard hitting, the bass, the motifs and mixing are all perfect. the features are all used to perfection.

and the songwriting. oh my ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
100

I don't think this is kendricks best album. but I'll be damned if it's not my favourite

the production is unlike any other album I've heard, playing out almost like a stageplay and I love the overall aesthetic of this album. every song has some level of lyrical substance and is more often than not, kendrick getting up close and personal with his audience.

United in grief remains a masterclass of an album opener, with the musical esque opening putting emphasis on the eyes ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
100

is my opinion on this shit even needed?

JAY-Z - Reasonable Doubt
100

Jay-Z's reasonable doubt feels like a mob movie. Luxurious yet grimey production, charismatic performances and some pretty fun storytelling at points, specifically on friend or foe with personality OOZING out of that track between Hov's verse and dj premiers instrumental. Little things like that are why i hate when people dismiss how great of a rapper Jay-Z is.

Central Cee - CAN'T RUSH GREATNESS
36

Aight so I've never really been a big central cee fan. His music has always been so painfully repetitive to me but I still wanted to see how i feel about this album.

surprised to say, I liked more than I thought i would but let's get the negatives out the way.
most of this album is hella repetitive and stuff central cee has done before. he doesn't have much variety in his delivery on MOST of the album.

that being said, he experiments plenty too. The song with Durk actually had ... read more

Bladee - Cold Visions
92

85 -> 92

this is one of my favourite albums of last year. Better than anything opium has put out since WLR. i'd argue better than WLR. Bladee brings such a unique energy to this album just showing this almost entirely negative energy, especially on the latter half of the record. Paranoia, wodrainer and yung sherman start off quite light, but catchy. he later goes into the more distorted and angry direction and it really pays off. King nothingg has one of the most insane beats I have ... read more

"Considering you liked flashout freestyle, give stunt 4 life by ezcodylee a shot. Given he already features on the original half blood you might fw it. It blends rage and punk rock perfectly in my opinion, and doesnt feel like the fake "punk" personas that carti or che have done in recent years"

"@StarLightBBX as someone who isnt a drake fan, idk why he hates in drake so strongly. I dont believe he's ever gone into any reasons he just pokes fun at him all the time. Granted its funny, but he's doint the same thing people dislike drake for. Repetitive whining"
On 𝓶𝓪𝓽𝓽𝓮𝓪's review of ezcodylee - STUNT 4 LIFE
"@dingalingaling i got it as soon as he started using the word "punk" the way he did. Being punk is being unapologetic about your politics and your opinions and che expresses absolutely none of that. Apart from the abrasive sound, there's no essense of 'punk' in anything that che does, especially in comparison to ezcodylee who has punk DNA embedded into each bit of the music"

"@redsnapper2 not at all, just because they employ distortion doesnt mean it distorts everything else, its a very clearly controlled chaos with death grips. With 2slimey it clearly trumps everything else in the instrumental and even the vocals."
On #1 MIDWXST DICKRIDER 🍆💦's review of 2slimey - times changin
"@ramonapark01 absolutely not lmao. Death grips isnt an assault on the ears with distorted 808s cranked to the max with trash lyrics and no variety in the delivery."

"@ramonapark01 death grips actually have talent. they actually pushed the envelope for the time and have substance to their writing. what does 2slimey bring to the table? I dont really hate 2slimey but death grips make coherent music, 2slimey doesnt."

"@felix_valkyria that history has no baring on the fact ice, especially as it stands right now, is a dangerous and tyrannical institution. it is wild to dismiss that fact due to the reason it exists because as it stands, innocent people are dying and its not just the sex traffickers and drug traffickers because the government that are so involved in funding ice, have also been covering up the biggest sex trafficking ring in human history. you're missing the point beyond belief. I wont deny that traffickers and other awful people have been persecuted at the hands of ICE, but as it currently stands, the way that institution is being handled as we speak is dangerous and it needs either drastically reformed, or abolished."

On PlasticTrees's review of Che - REST IN BASS: ENCORE
"@th3o you dont need video proof to believe carti beat his gf retard. Do you think thats the only valid form of proof for someone to believe someone did something? Do you think EVERYTHING is recorded or else it didnt happen? The closest we have is the footage of the interrogation and direct aftermath of him 'alledgedly' beating that pregnant woman. If you do your research you will find plenty good reasons that people believe that he did that."
On jackolson45's review of Nas - Magic 3
"As someone who likes this album a good bit more than most, magic 2 and 3 are so much less focused than magic 1. I think its because magic 2 and 3 were a lil more rushed and looser in concept as magic 1 was made in anticipation for KD3, but did something with more of an old school feel to set it apart. Magic 2 and 3 arent being made in anticipation of anything and just instead feel like throwaways from nas and hits other sessions"

"@ChemicalRr not particularly, it can be in a lot of cases but aesthetic can be correctly used in many different ways kinda used interchangeably with vibe in a musical context but the visual aspect is often used to strengthen the aesthetic in other areas. Again to use an example, opiums visual aesthetic is used in tandom with the aesthetic they use in their music"
