THIS SHIT IS SO DAMN BLOATED PLEASE LONE CUT DOWN YOUR DAMN ALBUMS.
some really cool ideas here, I really WANT to like this album cause the production has some really cool ideas but I just can't. the title track is a great showcase of what this album could be but it just doesn't live up to that as a project. going 6/26 is insane.
and no. the deluxe isn't any better. WHY IS IT 1 HOUR AND 41 MINS
meh.
I like some of the production? idk this is just a poor man's die lit. while X and AGC would take more from WLR, this project SCREAMS die lit energy, hell the opening track sounds like a poor man's long time.
I like a good amount of tracks, Rock N roll, Run+ran and clutch are highlights but I find this project to just be kinda uninspired and boring, not too bad though.
In one word this album is repetitive.
never felt my mind deteriorating more as I listen to an album, and the people hailing this as a top tier album have probably just had their brains dumbed down to such an extent that they think this is peak music.
that being said, MDMA and freestyle 2 are heat. A couple more tolerable songs but this album is just insanely boring
65 --> 45 -->
this shit has aged really badly. I straight up do not like this album anymore and dont think theres anything special about it. The deep voice has grown off me so fucking badly and i think the best songs on here use the raspy or softer delivery. if rather lie wasnt AI it would be incredible but this album is a disaster and has killed any hype i had for carti here on out.
homixide gang and even arguably ken have dropped better albums this year.
over time, this has found itself to be my favourite foo fighters record.
I don't think they have a perfect discography at all, but the colours and the shapes, there is nothing left to lose and wasting light are all fantastic albums, with wasting light being my favourite prior to this one.
this is one of the best modern rock albums I've heard, and my favourite of the decade so far
didn't expect the highlight of this tracklist to be homixide gang but tbh they snapped and plus odetari is a pretty solid producer, too bad this EP is ass
for a rapper that usually puts out quality with his only real weak spot in his discography being his debut studio album, and the underrated yet forgettable 2018 record KOD, this seems to be another one of those Records for me, however at the same time J cole fires at all cylinders lyrically at multiple points of the album, the real issue comes from his beat selection.
Pi (apart from the weird trans bar, thanks cole) it's honestly an amazing lyrical performance from all 3 artists, I like ... read more
Ecco and bladee are a duo that never really miss when on a song together, so i was surprised it took till 2022 for a full collab project. Im glad they did however, cause what the duo did was create a poetic and sonically soothing masterpiece with a new level of emotional maturity in its content.
speaking on normally depressing subject matter like grief in such a manner that still feels uplifting in a way that drain gang have never really done before on songs like 5 star crest, Also speaking ... read more
Ecco please drop again king 🙏🙏🙏
after getting into drain gang through a friend last year, when going through bladees discography ecco has always been a sign of "hey, this is a quality song" when I see him as a feature on the tracklist, and so I had high hopes for his one (and so far, only) solo album in his over a decade long career. it's been over 5 years since this album has dropped.
that being said, this album earns the masterpiece title to the point where I ... read more
Goddamn this shocked me
I've never been a big yung lean fan. I like a couple of his songs and a couple of his features but his whole projects tend to fall flat for me. Bladee on the other hand is an artist who's really grown on me in recent times.
that being said. I REALLY this album. Never did I think possibly my favourite bladee project is a dreamy post punk collab with my least favourite drain gang member but here we are. I fucking love this album.
The subject matter throughout ... read more
Okay uh, imma try be nice cause I like PND for the most part and drake tends to have at least a couple of really good songs on even his worst albums but imma just say it...
this is both of their worst projects.
I liked gimme a hug, lazers and the opening track but even those are songs I would never CHOOSE to listen to over some of drakes better tracks. then the rest is just painfully boring and mediocre. horrible writing, the chorus' aren't even hitting like they should cause ... read more
og review was outdated but I'm just editing this out to say i no longer thing this is bladees best project. 2nd tho for sure.
this project Encapsulates everything there is to love about bladees music for someone that wants a crash course on it. from songwriting that captures the peak of emo rap as a subgenre, mixed with the vocal style that makes bladee unique i genuinely think this album is great.
Edit: yk i think i might rereview this project because this is potentially my favourite ... read more
edited review as I've changed my thoughts on this album.
this album has gone from a 20 -> 32 -> 45
while I have found this album grow on me recently, i still do not find what so many drainers adore about this album. While some of bladees best work like obedient, for you and Decay can be found on this album, while yes half of this album is honestly very good, the other half is kinda mediocre at best and as one whole experience, isn't something I enjoy going back to.
I'd ... read more
an album that REALLY grows on you.
initially a 5.5/10, icedancer creates a spacey and psychedelic feel that no other album has created for me before. blending cloud rap and emo trap elements with some hyperpop influences, this album really isn't something that was done before or since it's release. closest we've really gotten is spiderr but even that doesn't have the same lyrical subject matter.
edited rating: 65 --> 89
I think a reason for my increased appreciation of this record is familiarity with bladees discography as a whole.
This album carries beautiful and euphoric production curtesy of whitearmor and complimented even more by bladees vocals feeling like another layer to the beat, rather than it's own thing.
The lyrical content on this album is dark and depressing, he confronts his vices and trauma with vocals that almost sound like an episode of derealisation ... read more
