Korn - Life Is Peachy
75

Yeah I think this is better than follow the leader, sue me. Nowhere near as many misses on here and the riffs on here are disgustingly good. Kunt, porno creep, lowrider and ass itch are the only songs that don't really hit for me but wicked is a pretty solid cover of the ice cube track, even if it doesn't feature much of JD at all. Chi, good god and a.d.i.d.a.s are some of the bands best work and the rest of the album is still a fun listen. Not amazing but its a decent follow up to ... read more

Korn - Follow The Leader

as a whole this isnt really a bad album, in fact this has some of the bands best and most catchy material on it but there are songs on here that I cannot stand. the second half really drops the ball from all in the family and onwards and even the first half isn't all hits cause the track with ice cube is pretty bad unfortunately. however every other song in its first half is some of the bands best work. real mixed bag but I overall am not a fan

Kanye West - BULLY V1
30

the best part of this "project" is the production, which even then for kanye standards doesn't even begin to reach anything he's done in the past. you cannot tell me a single beat on here matches up to his 2020 and prior work.

Fuck Kanye. Fuck this album and whatever it's gonna be. stop making excuses for him

Westside Gunn - 12
79

Another really great project from gunn, this dude is building up such a stacked catalogue and while yes it is a LITTLE too stacked arguably to the point where finding where to start for new listeners is a little daunting, he's got an insanely consistent discography for how often he drops. this album brings the same incredible production, delivery and witty lyrics that gunn usually brings to the table

PinkPantheress - Fancy That
82

yeah this mixtape is fun as fuck, it's no masterpiece but it's a fun listen all throughout and I wouldn't say that pop at the moment is having a renaissance, but we're seeing some incredible output in the pop scene right now.

billy woods - GOLLIWOG
90

I'm not the MOST familiar with Billy woods. I've heard parts of his work in armand hammer but that's really all so when it came to Golliwog, I already didn't know what to expect other than master class songwriting and experimental production.

What i DIDNT expect was a horrorcore album thats terrifying due to the fact that its very much based in reality. this is the peak of the horrorcore subgenre. this isnt the same style of shock factor lyrics of projects like goblin or ... read more

Lady Gaga - MAYHEM
87

Her best album in a WHILE. really brings me back to when she was on top of the pop scene, was it that hard Katy perry?

I'm all for this revival of her style cause you can still hear her matured vocals but you can still tell its her. Her signature style is all over this project. incredibly produced all throughout and although the second half isn't as strong as the first, I still think this is is a really strong revival for gaga's music career and does hold up with her first ... read more

Playboi Carti - Die Lit
93

If you were to ask me what my favourite trap album of all time is... the answer would probably be rodeo but this album really gives it a run for it's money in that regard. Fantano said it best when he described this album as intoxicating. it's some of the best music that the cloud rap subgenre has to offer and I'm apparently in the minority of people that don't actually think this album has any skips. from my understanding, Poke it out, home (KOD) and pull up are considered ... read more

The Weeknd - Timeless (Remix)
40

I do not like this remix, however at least the doechii verse is ACTUALLY hers instead of AI like cartis verse.

Imma actually use this review as an outlet to talk about the discourse around Doechii at the moment cause I think it's overblown hate and while I do not like this song nor anxiety, anxiety was made 5 years ago and was only released officially cause people dug it up and it got popular. Doechii is not an industry plant and has been grinding for years, alligator bites only got ... read more

A$AP Rocky - AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP
95

the greatest psychedelic rap album of all time (either this or rodeo) and arguably rockys best (though it's definitely not far off from his first 2 projects)

Rocky doesn't completely ditch the cloud rap style but rather goes into more of a traditional trap direction and it works wonders and multiple of the songs on here are some of my favourites of all time. Fine whine was an orgasmic first listen with an absolutely euphoric beat, a lowkey rocky performance with great writing, a ... read more

Yung Lean - Jonatan
74

Not a hip hop album for the most part and feels like a natural evolution on where lean left off on psykos. This project takes more of an indie rock focus and is amazing for it cause lean gets super raw and personal on this project (which always results in leans best work)

Lean proves how versatile he is in this project for the people that still view him as just merely a cloud rap legend, but much more than that.

Kanye West - DONDA 2 [Reissue]
30

Kanye will really drop a generic trap album and his fans will still glaze it to high heaven.

I'd take this album over JIK maybe because I'd honestly take more songs off this project than JIK but its still a really mid record. I like pablo, 530 and even like happy. in fact i think all the future features are pretty great. he snaps HARD on Mr miyagi (though the carti feature is pretty mediocre)

a good amount of this album is really bad, security, get lost, Louie bags, Jesse are awful. ... read more

Insane Clown Posse - The Amazing Jeckel Brothers
80

I am either becoming conditioned to like their music after 3 albums, or i genuinely really like this album?

sure it's not perfect and the lyricism on here really bothered me at points but this is the best project out of the 3 I've listened to so far. The improvements in rapping performances and production are night and day from prior records I've heard. they execute the aesthetic and concept here the best way they have up to this point by far. while the great milenko was solid ... read more

Insane Clown Posse - Hell's Pit
70

idk why the album cover on here is wrong but eh.

after being pleasantly suprised by the great milenko, I thought this was a good place to go from there. this album was a much different experience to that project but there's also a lot to like. this project is much darker lyrically than their prior work and has a greater emphasis on industrial hip hop that I think could really work for the duo.

One thing i can appreciate is there's a much greater improvement in rapping performances ... read more

Sematary & Ghost Mountain - HUNDRED ACRE WRIST HOSTED BY DJ SORROW
92

Sematary went from a guilty pleasure artist to an artist that I genuinely think is great.

The production all over this record calls back to the 2010's Chicago drill era pioneered by primarily chief keef and pulling from plenty of other inspirations. You can hear the black metal roots that sematary has, you can hear the drill inspiration and the cloud rap inspiration he got from artists like yung lean. what this does is create one of the most unique soundscapes I've ever heard in a ... read more

Eminem - The Eminem Show
86

while this is the follow up to the marshall mathers LP, this is the only album that holds up to it. You can feel Eminem mature past the shock factor stuff on past records and you feel him grow more independent on this project as the production is almost entirely handled my Marshall himself. Em gets political on white America and square dance, yets personal on cleaning out my closet and haileys song, has fun on songs like business and Without me and brings a variety of other moods that really ... read more

Dave Blunts - You Can't Say That
3

a couple of really funny bars but this album is fucking insufferable. the worst album of the year so far.

Dave blunts shamelessly bites juice wrlds vocal style and instead does this really shitty type of meme rap that's filled with shock factor. Dave blunts proves himself as one of the most juvenile and childish in the industry with the constant joke being "Haha look at me im saying something i shouldn't" along with repetitive flows and production all over it. how the fuck ... read more

Title Fight - Shed
84

A project i didn't think much of on first listen, the second listen really helped me appreciate this better.

The vocals can seem repetitive but to me it makes the entire album feel consistent and compliments the production incredibly well. The mixing is rough in the best way possible and the guitars are incredibly hard hitting. so much incredible writing on here that I didn't expect either going in and only appreciated on second listen. I dont really have much more to say but ... read more

GZA - Liquid Swords
100

some of the best rap songs of all time appear on this project. the title track, 4th chamber and shadowboxin' all belong in a hall of fame. Even on top of this there's some other classics here that don't get the recognition they should. duel of the iron mic, swordsman and Labels are all songs that I always come out loving after each relisten. Not a single miss on this project and it's between this or only built 4 Cuban linx for my favourite solo wu project.

One of the best ... read more

"Considering you liked flashout freestyle, give stunt 4 life by ezcodylee a shot. Given he already features on the original half blood you might fw it. It blends rage and punk rock perfectly in my opinion, and doesnt feel like the fake "punk" personas that carti or che have done in recent years"

"@dingalingaling i got it as soon as he started using the word "punk" the way he did. Being punk is being unapologetic about your politics and your opinions and che expresses absolutely none of that. Apart from the abrasive sound, there's no essense of 'punk' in anything that che does, especially in comparison to ezcodylee who has punk DNA embedded into each bit of the music"

"@felix_valkyria that history has no baring on the fact ice, especially as it stands right now, is a dangerous and tyrannical institution. it is wild to dismiss that fact due to the reason it exists because as it stands, innocent people are dying and its not just the sex traffickers and drug traffickers because the government that are so involved in funding ice, have also been covering up the biggest sex trafficking ring in human history. you're missing the point beyond belief. I wont deny that traffickers and other awful people have been persecuted at the hands of ICE, but as it currently stands, the way that institution is being handled as we speak is dangerous and it needs either drastically reformed, or abolished."

"@th3o you dont need video proof to believe carti beat his gf retard. Do you think thats the only valid form of proof for someone to believe someone did something? Do you think EVERYTHING is recorded or else it didnt happen? The closest we have is the footage of the interrogation and direct aftermath of him 'alledgedly' beating that pregnant woman. If you do your research you will find plenty good reasons that people believe that he did that."
On jackolson45's review of Nas - Magic 3
"As someone who likes this album a good bit more than most, magic 2 and 3 are so much less focused than magic 1. I think its because magic 2 and 3 were a lil more rushed and looser in concept as magic 1 was made in anticipation for KD3, but did something with more of an old school feel to set it apart. Magic 2 and 3 arent being made in anticipation of anything and just instead feel like throwaways from nas and hits other sessions"
