by far their most raw and aggressive album. Of every release they've had, this is the most 'nu metal' that deftones has ever gotten which is both to this albums benefit since it makes it super unique in the context of their discography. only issue is it doesnt make deftones unique as a BAND and I think they all knew that. it just makes the turnaround they made on around the fur so much more impressive.
this is one of the few debut albums that I dont reccomend to people trying to ... read more
even better than I remember. while I dont think its them at their best, its much heavier than I really remember. I always thought of this in the same vein as KNY and SNW but I went back to this after loving private music and this album is much better than I remember it being
these are aight but definitely feel more pop than the dark alt r&b we'd eventually hear on HOB. Just super amateurish but I feel like this was a necessary release for HOB to become what it was
well would you look at that
Deftones releasing an album of the year contender 30 years into their career was certainly not on my 2025 music bingo card but im definitely not unhappy about it. for some background, white pony is in my top 5 albums of all time. i love the soundscape that record has and its got some of my favourite metal tracks of all time with knife prty, digital bath, pink maggit, Feiticeira, rx queen and passenger. i could go on but then id be naming the whole tracklist. this ... read more
Just a drop is so good until jay electronica lowkey ruins it.
honestly this is one of those albums with a lot of heavenly shit on here like the opening track, no more old men and the highs and the lows. speaking of lows, this album has them. drapetomania actually has a nice chance performance, just on an AWFUL beat. i think he earned this second chance (pun intended) but he can definitely do better
JVB delivers another really fun album that arguably tops no hands which was one of my favourite albums of last year. the production is punchier than a physical altercation with prime Mike Tyson with some incredible sample flips, drum loops that just ooze with passion and fun writing from both members of the duo. Is this love is the only song that really is made worse by their rapping performances but its MORE than made up for by that instrumental.
Fuck you i like this album. sure its not my favourite project from them but I find this album to be at the very least better than bullets in a ranking of their discography. this album leans far more into the pop punk aspects of their music at its heaviest, and at its lightest ends up in a more glam punk/pop rock direction which sure, isnt my favourite sound for the band but it really does work for most of this tracklist. even SING, which is considered pretty bad by a lot of people I think ... read more

the roller coaster i have with this album continues. this album has aged pretty great and even though its very reminiscent of what carti managed to do with whole lotta red, it carves its own identity for itself unlike any of kens prior records where he'd just poorly replicate other sounds that carti had carved out for himself and I think thats where more chaos fails in comparison is having a consistent sound and beat selection.
i've got parts of ... read more
after not loving Lyfestyle, I was worried yeat was gonna abandon the 2093 type style. Glad to say that not only did he not abandon it, he improved on it. saying that, I REALLY liked 2093 so thats high praise. this is probably my favourite project yeat has dropped ever
Bangers bangers BANGERS. not as good as the forever story but if thats what you expected then you needed to temper your expectations. the album still has thematic strengths primarily about accepting and loving your flaws because god created us that way and still loves us that way, which is something I really needed reminded of today. more in depth review can come in later but I have no major complains about this album, every feature every verse and beat all fuckin hit. the clipse collab was ... read more
genuinely some of the better stuff to come out of the underground this year. Dullscythe manages to bring a certain level of flair to his music that you dont hear much. you can definitely hear most of his influences but it never comes to the point where you think "oh hes just a bladee clone" because he pulls from so many different influences and blends them in such a way that doesnt feel messy, but actually makes sense. vocally reminiscent of the draincore sound with production ... read more
OG review: theres an argument to be made that this is the best album the lable has released this year. Homixide gang have always been better than lone for me when it comes to opium members. free agents was a track that had to grow on me now that i've listened to the album but i didnt even know that this was for the album seeing as I5U5WE5 had just dropped last year. My hype built up when 5G dropped which has meechies most unhinged performance that really captured the manic industrial rage ... read more
i've had time to reflect since i initially believed this to be the second best album of the year and i've not really ot any major critiques on the music itself because its all fantastic. from the writing, to the lush production Vanisher is quadeca's most ambitious and impressive record yet and is one hell of a musical experience.
but thats just it, a musical experience. While vanisher is one of the best album experiences of the year it isnt something that i find myself going ... read more
