If any WSG album is to gain classic status, I have a feeling its gonna be this one.
theres so much to love here but to get the elephant in the room out the way, yes 327 might be the best song WSG has made. He has this super smooth flow that really sold me on his style my first time and of COURSE the joey and tyler features are fire. That tyler feature is top 3 features he's ever done and before the recent clipse album, i would have argued it was his best feature.
another highlight ... read more
nowhere NEAR as good as pray for Paris
not straight up bad, Some of my favourite WSG tracks land on here but man this has some of his worst material too.
rereview:
yeah I didnt like this album very much for the longest time. i've just never been able to get into it but the albums clicked a lot better with me recently. This album is probably their most dark and ends pretty hopefully which carries more into private music. that's why I think this album has really clicked with me this time. unlike their self titled record which (even though i i like it) doesnt have a great second half and kinda falters in terms of creativity, this album ... read more
fuck these new mixes are fucking amazing
best trap project of the year gets solidified with an incredible deluxe
why.
why is there a korn feature.
why cant they just admit that they dont work well with hip hop artists and this is their worst one. why are the lable (i assume) using bigs verse from kick in the door and if i should die before I wake.
that song is just a perfect example of what this album is, a painful and outdated reanimation of biggies legacy. fuck you puff
the greatest double album in hip hop history and for the longest time i preferred it to ready to die.
now I dont hold that opinion but I still think its a valid one to have as I think it has even better beat selection. Kick in the door, ten crack commandments, last day (That Jada verse is killer), hypnotise, mo money mo problems and going back to cali are all disgustingly good.
as far as lyrical performances go its damn near all fire apart from a line or 2 (but its big so its fine). Long ... read more
you cant be a hip hop fan and not listen to this album. if you havent or even if you're not a hip hop fan I implore you to listen to it since this is one of those albums that could change your mind. machine gun funk has to be one of my favourite songs of all time and its not the only song here i'd give that accolade to. the what is super underrated and method man kills his feature, who shot ya is a top 5 beat of all time, Title track is killer, warning is unbelievably smooth and gimme ... read more
ReReview - 55 -> 70
my (now partner) is the one that got me to listen to them and this is one of their favourite albums of all time. while i dont personally have the connection to it, i certainly understand why some love this album and i really do think its charming as all hell. while i initially just thought it was okay, this album has gotten much better to me over time and even though i dont think the rapping performances are all that great, i still think it doesnt bring down the album. ... read more
I dont hate ICP, in fact i think the great Milenko, hells pit and the amazing jeckel brothers are incredibly solid projects and have grown on me a lot since my first couple listens. the rest of their discography does not reach those highs though and this album is not breaking their losing streak.
with such a massive discography, they're bound to have some forgettable stuff but this takes the cake. i was so bored i stopped listening to it the day it came out, then i forgot to finish it so ... read more
a very good trap album, one of the best of the decade for sure
21's best project (either this or Savage mode 2 but this has the better feature list)
the most daring album deftones have ever made and goddamn is it good. their self titled album didnt leave much of an impression on me, especially after they dropped their magnum opus with white pony. apart from pink cellphone I think every song hits and chino hasn't sounded this mad since Adrenaline. This album feels like what they tried to do with adrenaline at times on songs like rapture, but then they lean into the shoegaze elements on other tracks. This album is super cohesive and its ... read more

returning to this 4 months later. since then in the rage scene we've had teccas dopamine, che's rest in bass, carti's music and homixide gangs homixide lifestyle 2. now that we've had these albums come out and theres been less of a drought for this type of music, not only did more chaos leave rotation but i completely forgot about it. now not only does this have bad implications for the subgenre, but its not even something i usually have with ken carson ... read more
Deftones not only created their iconic sound here, but knocked it out of the park straight away. after the raw and aggressive traditional nu metal project that was adrenaline, this strayed away from that sound. they hadnt quite moved away from the sound the same way that they would later manage to do on white pony, but the blend here really works.
this album is such a good blend of ethereal and atmospheric along with Heavy. my own summer is one of the best opening tracks in a metal album. That ... read more
