the most derivative drivel i have ever heard

Public Enemy - Fight The Power: Remix 2020

rapsody had the best verse on this joint. she fucking killed it, with nas following closely behind and black thought right behind him.

Nettspend - BAD ASS F*CKING KID

re-review: i still cant stand this project. i have been thoroughly enjoying his debut album 'early life crisis' and considering nettspend has grown on me on a few other tracks since i thought it may be worth relistening to this.

this mixtape is still trash. ever criticism i initially had of this project still stands, even if i can see the vision on a song like skipping class, which is what has bumped my rating up from a 15 to a 20. the jump from this to early life crisis has been ... read more

Edit: this would have a higher user score or even critic score if anyone except nettspend made this. Particularly looking at fantano on this cause this album is genuinely pretty good with some fantastic production all throughout and some intoxicating performances. Most people just cant get past the fact its nettspend

Not as good as any of his contemporarys in this scene, Nettspend has managed to still make a decent enough rage project that, while nothing all that special, gives me enough to ... read more

The Scythe - Strictly 4 The Scythe

Easily denzels weakest project at this point. Him and tiacorine do a lot for this album but everyone else (1900rugrat hate has been especially apparent) doesnt reallt pull their weight, even if they have decent contributions. Lets hope this collective can go somewhere better

System of a Down - System of a Down
98

one of the greatest debut's of all time and doesnt get anywhere near the appreciation it should. not only does the band not even have to find its footing, in fact they come right out the gate and let you know exactly who they are. while they have their weird side, it does not take away from what they're talking about and if anything actually enhances it. While i think toxicity has a slightly better tracklist, i actually did prefer this album for the longest time and actually still do ... read more

Baby Keem - Ca$ino

i hadto give this one time to sit with me to review it and overall i definitely like it. starting my morning with this intro song and then into the title track when this dropped was the best moment of this album for me, but i am not a lyricist is definitely another high point among the tracklist. i love seeing keem experiment and make something more personal across this project, and it really feels like he's finally found his footing regarding the kind of artist he wants to be, that being ... read more

Yeat - Made It On Our Own

this is pretty solid icl. People just dont like it cause liking esdeekid has become corny but this song is solid, just nothing too special. Im hyped for ADL

Gorillaz - The Mountain
89

I can confidently say that this is their best project since plastic beach.

while this is not quite as good as that record or demon days, i would say we could put this on the same level as their debut record and i couldnt be happier. Not only is gorillaz finally getting weird again, but they brought a familiar yet stacked feature list to boot, along with a range of international artists. I had a dumb fucking smile on my face throughout listening to this project and while i dont think this is ... read more

Knocked Loose - Hive Mind

Denzel please give us a metal album. This song is fucking amazing on both zel and knocked loose standards

Mitski - Nothing's About to Happen to Me
84

big day for the sad lesbian community

i think this is yet another really solid Mitski effort. Mitski has never made music that i casually listen to, but i always thoroughly enjoy each project from her and this carries on that streak. she may have one of the strongest discographies of all time right now. her songwriting is still top tier and i think this may now be the best introduction to her music because you really do see all that she is capable of. maybe a little early to tell but this may ... read more

Concrete Boys - It's Us Vol. 2

i just want a new yachty solo project, this group does nothing for me

Joey Valence & Brae - HYPERYOUTH (afterparty)
90

nothing on here is really as good as the main tracks on hyperyouth, and even as a deluxe i think the no-hands deluxe added more to that project than this deluxe adds to hyperyouth, but its still hyperyouth and i still like what we got

Bruno Mars - The Romantic
50

i was looking forward to this, but im disappointed, especially after the wait we had. Bruno mars knows how to make a catchy song still but anything that made his last 3 record interesting feel empty in this 31 minute album that somehow still has a week second half.

2slimey - More Anxiety
27

okay i get the appeal a little more now on this deluxe. i hated this project when i initially heard it and still in subsequent relistens i still couldnt quite get it. i still overall cannot get behind 2slimeys delivery and thats due to the fact that his delivery gets super samey and whenever he might get into a flow pocket that i like he ends up ruining it.

i will say, dirty bitch, and legion are pretty solid with legion especially being a great song but i cannot for the life of me get myself ... read more

The Scythe - THE SCYTHE

THIS IS SUCH A BANGER

TIA SPAZZED ON THIS SHIT

By Storm - My Ghosts Go Ghost
92

i loved injury reserve's last project 'by the time i get to phoenix' and dare i say that this project is just as good. i think i might prefer that project but that doesnt stop this from already being an aoty contender. depressing as fuck in delivery but the occasional outbursts in delivery and production keep it from being a slog of a listen. in my town and DT2 are my top 2 songs of the year so far

88

in one word, this album is SOULFUL. in every aspect from the vocals to the production this album is a masterclass in what a neo-soul album should be. a vibe from start to finish with some fantastic writing and vocal performances, i'd say this is definitely worth the wait.

"Considering you liked flashout freestyle, give stunt 4 life by ezcodylee a shot. Given he already features on the original half blood you might fw it. It blends rage and punk rock perfectly in my opinion, and doesnt feel like the fake "punk" personas that carti or che have done in recent years"

"@dingalingaling i got it as soon as he started using the word "punk" the way he did. Being punk is being unapologetic about your politics and your opinions and che expresses absolutely none of that. Apart from the abrasive sound, there's no essense of 'punk' in anything that che does, especially in comparison to ezcodylee who has punk DNA embedded into each bit of the music"

"@felix_valkyria that history has no baring on the fact ice, especially as it stands right now, is a dangerous and tyrannical institution. it is wild to dismiss that fact due to the reason it exists because as it stands, innocent people are dying and its not just the sex traffickers and drug traffickers because the government that are so involved in funding ice, have also been covering up the biggest sex trafficking ring in human history. you're missing the point beyond belief. I wont deny that traffickers and other awful people have been persecuted at the hands of ICE, but as it currently stands, the way that institution is being handled as we speak is dangerous and it needs either drastically reformed, or abolished."

On PlasticTrees's review of Che - REST IN BASS: ENCORE
"@th3o you dont need video proof to believe carti beat his gf retard. Do you think thats the only valid form of proof for someone to believe someone did something? Do you think EVERYTHING is recorded or else it didnt happen? The closest we have is the footage of the interrogation and direct aftermath of him 'alledgedly' beating that pregnant woman. If you do your research you will find plenty good reasons that people believe that he did that."
On jackolson45's review of Nas - Magic 3
"As someone who likes this album a good bit more than most, magic 2 and 3 are so much less focused than magic 1. I think its because magic 2 and 3 were a lil more rushed and looser in concept as magic 1 was made in anticipation for KD3, but did something with more of an old school feel to set it apart. Magic 2 and 3 arent being made in anticipation of anything and just instead feel like throwaways from nas and hits other sessions"

Again to use an example, opiums visual aesthetic is used in tandom with the aesthetic they use in their music"
