in one word, this album is SOULFUL. in every aspect from the vocals to the production this album is a masterclass in what a neo-soul album should be. a vibe from start to finish with some fantastic writing and vocal performances, i'd say this is definitely worth the wait.

J. Cole - High For Hours
100

Top 10 cole i do not care. The first and 3rd verses are some of his best, and the 2nd is still fantastic

J. Cole - The Fall-Off
93

i didnt just draw conclusions after the first listen, and im glad i didnt. i do still see my take changing but here is my stance after full spins and returning to a few tracks seperately throughout the day.

some of J.coles best work lands on here, and i'll actually say it... there's no skips for me, but that doesnt mean i dont have criticism.

i think this could have used a few more songs like two six to up the energy, or maybe even a rap feature because they dont exist on here at ... read more

Gesaffelstein & The Weeknd - Lost In The Fire
80

this is such a banger but please stop sexualising lesbians and bisexuals please

The Weeknd - Echoes Of Silence
94

so i said that thursday was his darkest project... but no i was wrong holy shit i forgot how dark EOS is

the most streamed artist of all time being capable of this is ridiculous, but thats why the Weeknd is such a fantastic artist. he is constantly challenging himself and proving that people cant box him in if they tried. initiation is a sickening song and easily the darkest thing he's done. its not exactly an earworm but its so easy to get lost in the atmosphere that this mixtape ... read more

The Weeknd - Thursday
74

the biggest weak spot of his trilogy tapes, Thursday is not a weak project inherently, but it is sandwhiched in-between 2 fantastic mixtapes. the birds pt1 and 2, life of the party and lonely star are fantastic. the zone is much better than live for off kissland and drake doesnt feel too out of place here, which is suprising given he's the first feature Abel put on one of these tapes. the title track, rolling stone and gone lose me a bit, leading to the ending feeling pretty weak for me. ... read more

The Weeknd - Starboy
68

my least favourite weeknd project but its not bad at all. a lot of synthpop bangers and some of the best pop songs of the 2010's land on here like the title track and i feel it coming, with some great deep cuts like sidewalks, reminder, six feet under and party monster

The Weeknd - Beauty Behind The Madness
70

i think this album has plenty to love but this is by far the weeknds least focused project. even starboy has a consistent sound to it in being his poppiest project by far. this is the contender for my least favourite Abel project but i do still feel positively towards it

Don Toliver - OCTANE
35

what are people seeing in this project?

The Weeknd - Kiss Land
92

Abels fanbase loves to dickride this album, its considered his underrated gem by many and on first listen, i didnt get why.

Anyway, if you check the score i clearly do not hold that opinion anymore. Kissland feels like a higher budget evolution of the sound he developed with his trilogy tapes, with the cinematic aesthetic oozing from this project.

the production on here is fucking FANTASTIC. Belong to the world and wanderlust ESPECIALLY are some of my favourites here in terms of production, ... read more

IDK - e.t.d.s. A Mixtape by .idk.
79

theres a lot of great work here, i do love IDK generally and i think this is a pretty good project but it doesnt grip me as much as a lot of his previous work

A$AP Rocky - LONG.LIVE.A$AP
92

sandwiched between 2 albums widely considered rockys best, im here to argue that this project holds up just as well, hell arguable even better than ALLA. much more polished and commercial than live love asap, but the style doesnt suffer, rather it feels just as unique as his debut mixtape and an evolution of his style. songs like fashion killa and fuckin problems are era defining, the production is clean while also being drugged out on tracks like PMW, 1train, suddenly and the title track. Also ... read more

Clams Casino - 32 Levels
70

Be somebody has one of the most bone chilling instrumentals i've ever heard. Clams casino could have made this project so much better with a little more focus as the album apart from a few tracks doesnt quite hit how i'd want it to. All nite has this dark club banger quality to it too. Album feels like wasted potential in a lot of ways

A$AP Rocky - Don't Be Dumb
84

I have a mock exam in an hour and a half but im cooked for that so i'll give some thoughts on this first. I dont blame people for wanting more. With an 8 year wait, the singles that dropped last year having nothing to do with the album showing a change in direction, i am not gonna blame anyone for nust aimply wishing that we had more.

But fuck this is good. Just a great hip hop album that feels like a natural evolution on what rocky managed to do on testing, with much more polish, poise ... read more

Ken Carson - the acronym
75

Grown on me a lot, lone absolutely killed this tho

BigXthaPlug - I Hope You're Happy
30

Man i liked take care but this is ridiculous

Bo Burnham - Inside (The Songs)
92

You're best hearing this after actually WATCHING inside. What is a mid album on its own, is paired with an existential comedy masterpiece

Tyler, The Creator - SAG HARBOR
88

Tyler killed this shit. Some of his best bars and rapping we've heard in a while.

Che - REST IN BASS: ENCORE

2nd best rage project of all time

"Considering you liked flashout freestyle, give stunt 4 life by ezcodylee a shot. Given he already features on the original half blood you might fw it. It blends rage and punk rock perfectly in my opinion, and doesnt feel like the fake "punk" personas that carti or che have done in recent years"

"@StarLightBBX as someone who isnt a drake fan, idk why he hates in drake so strongly. I dont believe he's ever gone into any reasons he just pokes fun at him all the time. Granted its funny, but he's doint the same thing people dislike drake for. Repetitive whining"
On 𝓶𝓪𝓽𝓽𝓮𝓪's review of ezcodylee - STUNT 4 LIFE
"@dingalingaling i got it as soon as he started using the word "punk" the way he did. Being punk is being unapologetic about your politics and your opinions and che expresses absolutely none of that. Apart from the abrasive sound, there's no essense of 'punk' in anything that che does, especially in comparison to ezcodylee who has punk DNA embedded into each bit of the music"

"@redsnapper2 not at all, just because they employ distortion doesnt mean it distorts everything else, its a very clearly controlled chaos with death grips. With 2slimey it clearly trumps everything else in the instrumental and even the vocals."
On #1 MIDWXST DICKRIDER 🍆💦's review of 2slimey - times changin
"@ramonapark01 absolutely not lmao. Death grips isnt an assault on the ears with distorted 808s cranked to the max with trash lyrics and no variety in the delivery."
On #1 MIDWXST DICKRIDER 🍆💦's review of 2slimey - times changin
"@ramonapark01 death grips actually have talent. they actually pushed the envelope for the time and have substance to their writing. what does 2slimey bring to the table? I dont really hate 2slimey but death grips make coherent music, 2slimey doesnt."

On musicrater9's review of Bad Bunny - Super Bowl LX Halftime Show
"@felix_valkyria that history has no baring on the fact ice, especially as it stands right now, is a dangerous and tyrannical institution. it is wild to dismiss that fact due to the reason it exists because as it stands, innocent people are dying and its not just the sex traffickers and drug traffickers because the government that are so involved in funding ice, have also been covering up the biggest sex trafficking ring in human history. you're missing the point beyond belief. I wont deny that traffickers and other awful people have been persecuted at the hands of ICE, but as it currently stands, the way that institution is being handled as we speak is dangerous and it needs either drastically reformed, or abolished."
On claire ☆'s review of Gesaffelstein & The Weeknd - Lost In The Fire
"i didnt interpret it as a conversion bar, just one about fucking a bi girl, but yeah it doesnt make it any less cringe to hear him sing about. it always annoys the fuck out of me whenever someone does it as a massive Abel fan."
On PlasticTrees's review of Che - REST IN BASS: ENCORE
"@th3o you dont need video proof to believe carti beat his gf retard. Do you think thats the only valid form of proof for someone to believe someone did something? Do you think EVERYTHING is recorded or else it didnt happen? The closest we have is the footage of the interrogation and direct aftermath of him 'alledgedly' beating that pregnant woman. If you do your research you will find plenty good reasons that people believe that he did that."
On jackolson45's review of Nas - Magic 3
"As someone who likes this album a good bit more than most, magic 2 and 3 are so much less focused than magic 1. I think its because magic 2 and 3 were a lil more rushed and looser in concept as magic 1 was made in anticipation for KD3, but did something with more of an old school feel to set it apart. Magic 2 and 3 arent being made in anticipation of anything and just instead feel like throwaways from nas and hits other sessions"

On nino888's review of OsamaSon - Flex Musix
"@ChemicalRr not particularly, it can be in a lot of cases but aesthetic can be correctly used in many different ways kinda used interchangeably with vibe in a musical context but the visual aspect is often used to strengthen the aesthetic in other areas. Again to use an example, opiums visual aesthetic is used in tandom with the aesthetic they use in their music"
