There's nothing better than listening to the songs of an already perfect album with different song structures and different instruments. Even if the album were released in cassette versions, even with this sound quality, my score would still be 100. This album is the pinnacle of popular music, or at least music that strives to be popular.
Dumb, temporarily unable or unwilling to speak.
It's not Rocky's best, but it's definitely a good album. I'd say it's his best in terms of album theme. I don't think it was worth the 8-year wait; the album doesn't even sound like it took 8 years of work. I can also understand why people expected more from Rocky. If it had truly been an album that took eight years to make and was really polished, it would have definitely been on the level of rap classics. ... read more
Hyping this album to the skies and dramatizing it as if it were the pinnacle of popular music is beyond ridiculous and amounts to nothing more than jumping on the bandwagon and approving it simply because others have approved it. There have been hundreds of albums that received high scores and perfect scores, but I didn't like them. However, with each of those, I could at least match the scores given to the music and make sense of them. But I can't make sense of this album. For me, ... read more
When I listened to this album on its own, I found it calmer and more incomprehensible than other GY!BE albums, describing it as “unlistenable.” I think the main reason for this was that it didn't have the same moments of elevation as LYSFLATH. However, when I decided to listen to the album again with intense focus and approached its atmosphere as a concept, it definitely managed to draw me in.
The band, presenting us with a post-apocalyptic world, chose to use chillingly cold ... read more
It was an album where Godspeed You! Black Emperor (I'm referring to them this way because this band is their side project.) moved away from their classic song structure, using fewer explosions and less drumming. Released the same year as the LYSFLATH album, it was an album that felt more subdued and modern classical than post-rock. From what I understand, they continued in this direction in other albums as well, as there are clear differences in song structure. Hearing vocals from GY!BE ... read more
So what does this score mean? I'll need a long paragraph to describe the beauty of this album.
This album's inspiration to modern Alternative Rock is incredibly high, the use of synthesizers on the album is revolutionary, and you can find its influence in many 90s Alternative bands. It is an undeniable fact that with just 3 songs, it provides more inspiration, musical experience, and development for a composer than dozens of albums could ever offer. For example, I believe the legendary organ solo in the unreleased version of Paranoid Android was written and added based on this ... read more
This is not just about ordinary dreams that anyone might have, but rather about a person who works for hours, days, and years for the sake of a dream, and despite all this work and effort, ends up losing everything due to luck, social pressures, psychological breakdowns caused by social reasons, and lack of support. Consider Kafka, for example. Think about what would have happened if he had never been heard of. Think about the fame he achieved after his death, clearly due to luck. After all ... read more
I listened to the album again last week, and I can honestly say it completely took over my entire week. I listened to each song over and over again and felt a sense of “I need to develop this kind of instrumental style too” that I'd never experienced before. Throughout the week, I worked on a song, referencing this album and various others, and came up with a song that has a lot of potential but is still stuck at the demo stage due to issues with mixing, a banal intro, and ... read more
I can understand why this album is being praised so highly, but unfortunately I can't agree. Despite listening to it many times, I can only say it's a good album because there's not much I can say about an album whose production doesn't rise above a good level. Of course, this is the overall average of the album. There are songs with top-level production, such as So Far Ahead, P.O.V., The Birds Don't Sing, Chains & Whips, and M.T.B.T.T.F., which meet my aesthetic ... read more
This is another relaxing album. You can sit back and just wait with this album, relaxing as you follow its lyrical integrity and notation. I also really liked the vocals. There was a male vocalist on the album Ants From Up There that I left half-finished, but I liked this one much more.
Favorite song: Nancy Tries to Take the Night
I want to avoid using clichés for this album, but I can definitely say it gave me an indescribable experience. I'm not very familiar with indie folk, but this album gave me complete peace, even if only temporarily. Finding that peace when you're studying more than 13 hours a day and losing sleep is really not easy.
I also think this style of acoustic sound has significantly influenced my taste in music and the sound of the songs I write in my spare time; lately, I've ... read more
It looks like we'll soon see an album that will be the best album of the decade.
This is the peak of music, and they make it seem like it's perfectly normal.
After listening to To Be Kind and warming up to the genre, I decided to listen to this post-rock legend that I had left half-finished, and it completely blew me away. The album gave me the most intense experience I've ever had, both physically and spiritually, without saying a single word, every single minute. It's an album created for every particle that exists and will exist in the universe. It is the answer to how human absolute togetherness and absolute loneliness can exist in ... read more
When I first listened to this album, I got bored with its monotony, length, and constant repetition of notes, so I turned it off, but I wanted to give it another chance, and I actually think my ears are more open to this kind of thing now. I really liked the album, and I can say it broke my prejudice against post-rock. If I get used to it a bit more, I wouldn't be surprised if my score updated to 90.
I believe Screen Shot is one of the best pieces in music history. Even though it has a ... read more
I listened to the album and, for some reason, the acoustic tones on the album affected me so much that I picked up my guitar, opened FL Studio, and literally wrote a song in my head and got a perfect song in 15 minutes. Albums like this deserve 100 scores, I don't need to say anything else.
