I was beyond excited for ARTMS' debut with “Birth”. I had a little idea of how it would sound as the track got picked by fans beforehand, but you can't fully grasp the essence of a song within a short snippet. I didn't end up voting for it, but I was curious about the turn it would take. I also didn't listen to it after the vote, so I'm pressing play without remembering much, apart from the dark tone it had, and the ... read more

I wasn't expecting the Afrobeats turn “Emptiness” would take, but I'm here for it. BoA's voice sounds as good as usual and the production is rather catchy, with a great atmosphere. However, I have to ask one thing, who the hell am I supposed to get mad at for the off-putting rap verse? I thought we went past the need for those. Fortunately, it's very short and doesn't impact the song much. But still, these few seconds could have been used to elevate the track, instead of making me ... read more

It seems nugu girl groups really know what they're doing when it comes to the blending of House sub-genres into Dance-Pop. I might be talking too soon though, as ๐๐ฆ:๐๐ค๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ฆ contains two songs, including “YoYo” released in February. But it's looking good so far. I like how RESCENE manages to bring something new to K-Pop, like CSR with their fresh take on ... read more

ILLIT was formed through JTBC and Belift Lab’s show ๐ ๐ ๐๐ฆ๐น๐ต? in 2023. I have no idea if the show was a success compared to MNET's survival shows (although I watched it and rooted for Yunah <3, Chanelle </3 and Jiwoo </3), but one thing for sure is that HYBE has the funds to make sure people know about them. If you spend some time on SNS, you might have seen the group attending ... read more
I put VVUP's ๐๐ฐ๐ฐ ๐๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฎ ๐๐ฉ๐ช๐ต on my list of K-pop to listen to, for the part starting with "๐๐ฉ๐ช๐ด ๐ช๐ด ๐ฎ๐บ ๐ญ๐ช๐ง๐ฆ" – probably the only enjoyable moment of the song. I put stuff in my list after I see the groups perform on music shows, so I never know if it's a single, mini or full album (they're so rare isg). It would be nice if there was at least another track because I'm quite curious about their sound. Apparently ... read more
I came into n.SSign's ๐๐ข๐ฑ๐ฑ๐บ & because I found the title track “Happy &” super catchy. Every time I would see them perform it, I’d be happy. Listening to it in the context of the EP doesn’t change a thing, it’s the highlight for me. I love the melody in the chorus and the end of the bridge is super cute with Hanjun singing “๐๐ฐ ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ ๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ด๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ค๐ช๐ข๐ญ ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ ๐ข๐ณ๐ฆ?”. ... read more
There's something about Seori's voice and music I just love. Even if this record remains pretty basic, I still appreciate it for its overall softness and upbeat moments. I just know one day she's going to drop a jam as good as those she did before. We just have to wait a little more, I guess. In the meantime, I'll enjoy this nice little EP a few more times.

From the bubbly intro “Crush”, to the Soft Rock of “Voyager”, the girl group delivers yet again another smooth project. I don’t think any track really stands out, apart from “BITTER SWEET” and “Heart Attack”, the rest remains simple and sticks to the group's warm ... read more

After her debut single “down down down” released last year, You Dayeon is back with “text me”. While her debut sounded round and soft, her new song tackles on UK Garage (or Future Garage?). The outcome is a pretty sharp beat with scattered vocal chops. Her voice slides beautifully well on the production, contrasting her sweet and clear tone and the jittery beat. I loved her debut, but I love this one ... read more

I discovered You Dayeon on Girls Planet 999 in 2021. Episode after episode, she marked me more and more, by her skills of course and by her personality too. What I liked about her was the way she'd speak up when she felt something was wrong/unfair.
To make it quick, when her group was assigning parts, Dayeon couldn't get what she wanted because leader Fu Yanning decided they could only submit for one part. Dayeon said she thought it ... read more

STAYC I fancy you!
STAYC is the first K-Pop group I have seen participate in the Spotify Singles series (I don't know if they're the first ever tho), and they've done a surprisingly nice job.
Here, the girls cover Twice's “Fancy”, and turn it into something completely different. The dense, glittery and energetic electropop track, becomes a stripped-down R&B jam, picking up elements from Drum & Bass and
Bubblegum Bass. I love how the music lets each of their voices slide in ... read more
YooA is pursuing her solo journey with her first single album ๐๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ญ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฆ.
While I don’t have any major issues with this project, I can’t deny the repetitive feel of it. Maybe “repetitive” isn’t the right word here, but I mean there’s a lack of surprise and nothing grabs my ear. Even when YooA dives into fun genres such as nu-disco or synth funk, it remains pretty basic. The first half is great, but once you’ve listened to ... read more
I sort of randomly came into this EP, for the story, it was a typical Thursday morning, I put M Countdown in the background through my earphones, and a bunch of young men started screaming why they’re the main alpha. Countless jokes started spinning in my head, I mean it’s kinda fun to see 16 to 19-year-old hairless and made up boys talking about how virile they are (I know some guys who would probably love that song tho). Anyway, without fault, they caught my attention, but not for ... read more
I somehow completely missed the news on Wendy’s comeback, didn’t see anyone talking about it on Twitter and I guess I don’t spend enough time on SNS anymore to see any promo on my feed. Thankfully I got the notification from a Discord server.

CHUNG HA (aka Mother) is back after much trouble with her previous agency, MNH ENTERTAINMENT. Now she is with Jay Park's label, MORE VISION. They sound amazing oh my god! This song totally fits them, thank you so much for making (G)I-DLE cover Brown Eyes Girls. I watched it when they performed the song at one of their fan meetings (and somehow forgot about it) but completely missed the live performance they did on Lee Hyori's show. I really recommend watching it!

This collaboration will join the list of collabs I didn't even dare to dream of, those duos I didn't know how bad I needed. Matt Champion has always been one of my favourite BROCKHAMPTON members, and Jennie is a part of BLACKPINK, the group that introduced me to K-pop.
Their voices match perfectly, it's insane. While the duo low & high range (or man & woman) is something that often works really well, due to how the two naturally complements each other, on “Slow Motion” it ... read more
