Charli xcx - BRAT
81

100% certified club bangers. Consistency from the front to back, super solid EDM release. Honestly just a lot of fun all the way through. Love the bouncy production, and Charli fills it in perfectly.

"I don't eat fruit or vegetables, I eat the pussy and other stuff"

This album feels like thlamming your penith in the car door a million times.

Favorite Song: No Fruits Or Vegetables (obviously)

Foster the People - Paradise State of Mind
64

Fun listen, lots of catchy grooves. I like the instrumental choices on this one. I don't care for much of it but there's a few that stand out.

Favorite Song: Chasing Low Vibrations

Polo G - HOOD POET
47

I listened to this twice and I still don't remember much of what happened.

Favorite Track: God's Favorite

Ice Spice - Y2K!
28

This shit is nowhere close to being the fart.

Favorite Song: Did It First

Larry June - Doing It For Me
62

Some good tracks here and there, this albums definitely a vibe, but after the Alchemist collab I'm just left a lil disappointed.

Favorite Track: Imported Couches

Mustard - Faith of a Mustard Seed
60

Kinda just a whole lot of mid. Couple good songs, nothing in particular is bad but its just nothing worth note.

Favorite Song: Parking Lot

Benny the Butcher - Summertime Butch
56

The album he came out with earlier this year I enjoyed more, but I understand its an album with his label Black Soprano Family. I appreciate him putting on his artists with an album, but a lot of the performances just don't bring much to the table.

Favorite Song: One Verse Butch

Common - The Auditorium Vol. 1
79

Sample gold, Pete Rock showed up with the business and Common ran with it. The use of samples for the choruses is nice, and works really well for this type of album. This feels timeless.

Favorite Song: Dreamin'

Eminem - The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)
65

I think this is the best thing Eminem has dropped in awhile but it still has a few pitfalls.

A lot of the songs harp on the same topics as other songs. It feels like this could've been a great album if it only had half the songs. He only goes after Caitlyn Jenner and Christopher Reeves really, and it is several times throughout the album so it's really noticeable. He also harps on Gen Z trying to cancel him, but todays youth is so desensitized to everything that Eminem can't say ... read more

Porter Robinson - SMILE! :D
82

Totally in your face. Loud and emotional. I love the Y2K feel to this, puts me in a really good mood. Honestly a really fun pop project with a really experimental sound. This album is all over the place in a really really good way.

Favorite Song: Russian Roulette

Childish Gambino - Bando Stone and The New World
76

Wasn't sure what I was getting into with this one at first. I like the approach he took on this, not really a rap album like I thought it'd be. Lots of different genre attempts, a lot of them play out a couple don't.

Favorite Song: Lithonia

Denzel Curry - King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2
85

Incredible Southern hip hop/phonk album. Again Denzel Curry shows he can perform great in any lane he sets into. Well picked features for the style the album is going for, and a tracklist of absolute bangers one after another. Cool instrumental interludes for some breathing room then right back into the action. A fun and carefree album after MMESYF.

Favorite Song: BLACK FLAG FREESTYLE

Action Bronson - JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACHLAVA THE DOCTOR
77

Solid selection of Action Bronson songs, not as great as Only For Dolphins was but still a fun listen.

Favorite Song: NBA LEATHER ON NBC

Logic - Ultra 85
85

Being a fan of Logic for awhile (I haven't listened as much recently) this was an album rollout I was pretty excited for. This project had to be good with all the time he has been hyping it up. I'm glad how well it played out.

This album has some of the best songs Logic has ever made. The "corny" parts of the album feel really endearing compared to past attempts with the same type of lines. Tons of fantastic beats scattered throughout. One of the best releases of the year ... read more

Lupe Fiasco - Samurai
83

It's crazy how the high level of consistency is throughout the album. Crazy writing mixed with intricate flows. Some of the smoothest jazz rap I've heard in a while, it's a very enjoyable half hour. Some of the best rap to come out of the year so far.

Favorite Song: Til Eternity

Navy Blue - Memoirs in Armour
79

A nice introspective walk through Navy Blue's life. Full of nice beats and crazy lyricism. A super consistent 25 minutes that is more than worth the time to listen through.

Favorite Song: La Noche

Clairo - Charm
80

So dreamlike. Very relaxing and soothing. This album has a lot of Charm.

Favorite Song: Juna

Vince Staples - Dark Times
84

A nice collection of songs from Vince that continue the crazy album run he is currently on. Very deep and emotional topics are treaded on and well executed. Also has some of his best songs to date. There really isn't a miss on here, as he continues on this crazy album run that he is currently on.

Favorite Song: Étouffée

My goat where has he gone. He is lost.
