Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly

TPAB. It’s TPAB. Kendrick’s tale of being a black man in America. It’s amazing. I mean, everyone knows that. There’s always discussion around this album. At the time of writing this, it’s almost 8 years old. Truly timeless. Maybe it’s too soon to tell but I don’t think it’s a crazy opinion to have.

This album is bigger than life itself. Every lyric is carefully crafted into a narrative that covers every facet of Kendrick’s experience, often ... read more

Lil Uzi Vert - Eternal Atake

The excitement for Eternal Atake is hard to forget. Uzi has been all over music discussion in the last few years and people were beyond hyped for their new album, just for it to be, for lack of a better phrase, nothing amazing.

I’ve never been into Uzi much but I do enjoy some of their songs. Eternal Atake doesn’t really help that case. There are only a few songs on here I come back to occasionally, the rest are just repetitive and don’t grab my attention. The front and back ... read more

KAYTRANADA - Bubba

Asking me if I think Kaytra is a good producer is like asking a dog if they think chicken tastes good.

As of now, this is one of my favorite albums ever. It might seem weird given the score only being 81 but the instrumental only tracks don’t do much for me, I’ve never been a fan no matter the artist or genre. I have hundreds of listens on the other ones though. If the album were only those, I’d love it even more, but I accept BUBBA for what it is because it’s still ... read more

Aminé - TWOPOINTFIVE

Aminé has been in an interesting place in hip hop since Caroline blew up years ago. He has almost 9 million monthly listeners on Spotify but I don’t see much discussion about his music. It’s a little confusing that he’s this overlooked since everything I’ve heard from him (not a lot, but enough) has stood out among other artists in the same genre.

I remember listening to ONEPOINTFIVE a while ago and still come back to a few of the songs on that project once in a ... read more

Denzel Curry - Walkin

This song blew me away. Not a single flaw. The production is amazing, including the beat switch, which felt really natural compared to most other beat switches. Denzel spoke nothing but facts with these raw lyrics. It feels like a short story, rather than a song, about dealing with life’s not-so-great offerings, and I think a lot of us need that right now.
