Ramones - Ramones

I can hear the influence this record has had on the genre, but I can't help but feel that this album as a whole seems so repetitive and dull. There's a few songs that are keepers but most don't do much for me. Maybe i've spoiled myself by hearing too many bands improve upon the groundwork that the Ramones laid out, but i'm not going to pretend I love this just because I love the music it spawned. I do appreciate that fact though and will continue to give the Ramones a fair shake.

This is still my first dive into bjork and the peaks are so invigorating. Ive listened to it probably three times through since my first listen and there are still some tracks that wear me down but the keepers only get better and better.

So damn colorful and vibrant. All over the place stylistically yet everything is right where it should be.

No vocal tricks, no gimmicks, just a pure emotional music experience. One to revisit for the rest of my life.

The Modern Lovers - The Modern Lovers

Super enjoyable and catchy while carrying a ominous, doorsy-like esthetic. Love the quirky but smooth vocals and fluctuation of fast and slow tracks on this thing.

Tight, groovy, and consistent. One great sounding album.

David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars

As good as an opener gets and as good as a closer gets, oh yeah and basically a greatest hits in between. Bowie was a master of building his songs up in small increments until you're eventually standing shoulders back, arms out, and head towards the sky in a grand gesture to the universe. It ain't easy is probably the weakest track because it seems slightly out of place but even that one is still a pretty solid track.

This album trips me to the ground, picks me up and gives me a hug, then proceeds to throw me through a wall. A kickass record.

My whole life looks like a picture of sunny day.

A solid synthop album. A little long winded in parts making some tracks better enjoyed in the background, but also has some irresistible moments. Loved the Jazz elements.

A lot to like about this and a lot to personally look forward to.

The low points are deeper here than on Let it be and the high points aren't quite as high. Still some great gems here though.

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly

I was really into Kendrick when this album came out and I remember being borderline dissappointed because was a complete curve ball from his previous work. It didn't have the straightforward storytelling i'd come to love from him but more of a hectic, jazzy, experimental style. It didn't have something early on like the instantly infectious Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe to throw me into it. Over time i've come around to appreciating this piece of art. It really transcends the conventions of hip hop ... read more

Lets see far into the top all time list I get before giving an album a perfect rating...

I mean what an incredible record. Such depth and variation in melodies while somehow never meandering. The vocals soaring in and out creating endless visceral moments. A concept that is ever so fitting for today's internet culture. And to think there was a time when I had trouble getting into this outside of Karma Police.

COME ON RAIN DOWN ON ME

Fav - Paranoid Android

The Replacements - Let It Be

Perfect combination of their work colliding on this wonderful album. I don't smoke but I imagine myself smoking outside a bar looking out at the rain with this playing in the background. Fun and contemplative. The Kiss cover isn't bad but it always throws me out of this perfect state im in listening to this as well as the completely random Gary's Got A Boner. There's three of my favorite songs on this thing.

Fav - Unsatisfied

The Replacements - Hootenanny

A step forward in production to this point in their discography and a bridge between their early punk and their later pop sounds. A few tracks standout much more than others unfortunately. Some of them seem wildely out of place. Still fun nonetheless.

Fav - Within Your Reach

Matches the attitude and noise of the debut but never hooks me the same way. Except 'Go' which has a much different dynamic.

Liked this more than I expected to because I thought this would be a rough opener to the band. Rough it is, but in a good way. Fast, loud, and sloppy but with lots of character. Some great hooks on a handful of tracks.
