What we have hear is just a solid rock record by one of the greatest icons in Rock music. His partners in making this album worthwhile. However, its not something I think I will have on repeat.
This album of throwaway tracks is already better than most rappers' albums. If you dig deep enough into this album you will find gold in its concepts and its structure. Every track has a life of its own, and they don't feel like they should belong to one cohesive album. At this point, Kendrick has nothing to prove.
Esperanza comes out with an album that is full of inspirations. It is filled with great moments of jazz, funk, pop, and rock. It is full with heady concepts and she displays her many vocal deliveries in full force here.
TLOP is an album that seems unedited to a certain degree. It's almost as if Kanye just decided to bear all his perfections and imperfections. It's a confusing album because every track feels unconnected. However, I can't help but feel entertained because for the most part the album works for me. There are peaks and valleys to this album. Songs like Ultralight Beam and Real Friends are amazing, but then Kanye can leave scratching your head when he delivers an awful line about bleaching assholes. ... read more
I found this album to be a decent listen but it became instantly forgettable. Half of the songs here work, half of them don't.
I honestly just couldn't bear through the album for multiple listens. It is a very lengthy record with production that just isn't really interesting. The lyrics were the only thing that kept me interested but I don't find myself listening to this again. It's just not for me.
This is one of the better Segall projects I have heard. It is lo-fi garage rock that is relentless in chaos. Ty Segall seems to have found a comfort zone in that chaos, and I enjoyed being a part of that strange madness.
This is an album filled with decent lyrics and tunes, but the production is just so plaid and monotonous that I am just not moved by the music.
I really hate to say it but I was just disappointed by this album. Outside of a couple tracks, I was just not riveted by this album in the same way Silence Yourself was. It seems that Savages tried to go for a more melodic route for this album. However, I prefer the more hard-hitting, powerful cuts on the previous album.
An album that displays an artist full of different talents. This album shows great diversity in music and content. Anderson has proven his place in R&B/Soul music with this album. I was really impressed with the musicianship of this album, and it is a very smooth ride from start to end.
A truly remarkable album that just becomes more powerful due to the passing away of Bowie. The lyrics do take on a whole other meaning. It is one of Bowie's most experimental albums made. He utilized several jazz elements to create this album. It is a mystical and beautiful experience, an early candidate for AOTY.
If this is an appetizer for what is coming for King Push, I can say that I am very excited. Pusha T delivers a sharp mixtape/album with hard hitting tracks. It reminded much if his Clipse days.
OPN crafted an album that is as unsettling as it is beautiful. It never allows you to settle in, and mesmerizes with every glitch and loop. It has some humor mixed with tragedy. This is truly one of the significant electronic music albums of the year.
Grimes came through with a wonderfully odd and gorgeously put together pop album. It is truly singular and it doesn't feel like this can really be made by anyone else. Grimes has a great ability to craft songs with imagination. It just gets better with every listen.
Elaenia is a beautifully composed electronic album that really breezes by you within a moment's notice. It is very fluid combining elements of jazz and ambient sounds. It really is an album that is pleasuring for the ears.
This is such an underrated album. It is incredibly gorgeous as usual coming from Joanna Newsom. The concepts of time and space discussed in this album bring one of the most brilliant conceptual albums I've heard in a few years. It is a truly remarkable album and should even more credit than it does.
