Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher
88

First Rating: 76 Probably will give it a few more close listens. Feels immersive and the songwriting appears to be superb. It's just not hitting me yet.

Second Rating 82 : yes excellent songwriting, cathartic ending, overall a fantastic listening experience

Third Rating: Went from this is interesting, to this quite good, to this is incredible.

HAIM - Women in Music Pt. III
86

First Rating 86: Thoroughly enjoyed this album. Outstanding collection of pop, folk, and rock songs with personality. Songwriting and production on this one is sharp.

Second Rating 86: Album is consistently good doesn't wear out

Bob Dylan - Rough and Rowdy Ways
80

First Rating 80: Sure this quite lengthy, and Bob Dylan isn't necessarily reinventing his sound or approach. But when you have a 15 minute song about the Kennedy assassination then I'm on board.

Second Rating: 80, Simply solid. Not necessarily a great album from Dylan, but one where you have to admire he is still making quality music so late in his life.

Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia
85

First Review 66: Dua Lipa delivers a solid pop album. But there isn't anything about the style, songwriting, or production that amazes me.

New Review 85 : Sometimes it's ok to admit you were wrong about an album. Maybe I wasn't in the right headspace when I initially tried to listen to this album. This a fantastic pop album with flair, great production and songs. 2020 was a hell of a year for pop music.

Jay Electronica - A Written Testimony
70

I couldn’t be more disappointed in a Jay Elec album. I waited 10 years to hear half of the album be a Jay-Z album, and I love Jay-Z. Outside of the Neverending Story and Shiny Suit Theory a song I already knew, this album didn’t do much for me. The production was quite mediocre and I’ve listened to far better songs from Jay Electronica.

Against All Logic - 2017 - 2019
80

First Rating: 75 You can always count on Nicolas Jaar for quality but I find myself gravitating for the previous AAL album

Second Rating: 80 I guess it hit me when I was in the right mood. Nicolas Jaar is a flat out genius in this genre of music.

Yves Tumor - Heaven to a Tortured Mind
83

First Rating:81 Yves Tumor returns with yet another album that transcends genre. This is a rock and pop record that doesn’t play by the rules. Very unique music.

Second Rating: 83 Not sure how to define this style of music, but I am certainly feeling it.

Childish Gambino - 3.15.20
33

I love Childish Gambino but this album right here does not translate very well for my ears.

Mac Miller - Circles
82

First Rating: 78 The closure that was needed. I'm not really big on posthumous albums but this one was done right. It's truly heartbreaking that his life ended so shortly.

Second Rating: 82 Sublime and beautiful.

Thundercat - It Is What It Is
73

First Rating: 74 Smooth and eclectic. It doesn't amaze me and Thundercat doesn't do anything that necessarily pushes his sound forward. However, it is still an effective piece of jazz fusion, funk, and soul.

Second Rating: 73 This is solid but it just isn't memorable. It's decent background music.

Grimes - Miss Anthropocene
54

Appreciate the artistic exploration of Grimes. There are a couple beautifully composed songs in this, but it felt a bit too muddled and dull for me.

Run The Jewels - RTJ4
89

First Rating: 89 It might be scientifically and physically impossible for Run the Jewels to make a bad or even average album. Killer Mike and EL-P are already legends in my mind and I hope they keep making music together because we need it. I can't think of a better soundtrack to 2020.

Second Rating: 91, nothing but bangers.

Third Rating: 89, Fatigue

King Krule - Man Alive!
77

First Rating: 73, I don't find the production as diverse or immersive as The OOZ, however, there is something to this album that will make me go back for more. King Krule certainly knows how to craft hazy, melancholic music.
Second Rating: 77 Enjoyed it a bit more. Poetic and depressing.

Charli xcx - how i'm feeling now
85

First Rating: 82
Second Rating: 84

Quarantine Pop. Welcome to the 2020's. Next Level Charli

Fiona Apple - Fetch the Bolt Cutters
97

First rating: 91 Incredible album. I'm not sure yet if this is a masterpiece, I need more listens to confirm.

Second Rating: 94, I don't think I love this as much the Idler Wheel, but damn does this look like another masterpiece from Fiona Apple. Music and lyrics are just on another level.

Third Rating 97: I don't know if there will be a better album this year

Noname - Telefone
88

A very short but impactful album. It doesn't wow you at first, but with every listen you leave with a bigger smile on your face. It is really a treat of a hip hop album, and one of the best hip hop albums coming from a female artist I've listened to in several years.

A Tribe Called Quest - We got it from Here... Thank You 4 Your service
90

There couldn't have been a more perfect hip hop album to come out at the end of 2016 than this. I knew that there was something missing in the Tribe's legacy. This album is about as perfect you can make an old school hip hop album with a modern flair. The production is sharp and the lyricism is on point. This feels like a passing of the torch to the new generation. Although this is the Tribe's last album, their legacy will live on for a long time.

Nicolás Jaar - Sirens
82

Jaar isn't afraid to step into new territories. That is why he is one of my favorite electronic artists now. This album delivers poetic messages that reveal themselves after repeated listens. This is a sneaky good album. Once you make the meaning of it, it becomes an engaging listen.

Jenny Hval - Blood Bitch
80

An interesting listen and album that is truly unique and experimental. I'm not sure how to box this album, but Jenny made a compelling record about blood, capitalism, and selfhood. It is a step forward from the already good Apocalypse, Girl.

Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
92

Brown's new album is a true descent into madness. Some of the production on this record is truly bonkers and makes me wonder how on Earth that beat was even made. Brown offers introspection into his drug use and wild life, which may be a danger to his longevity. I think this album has cemented Danny as one of the most gifted rap artists of this decade.
