With Brand New Eyes, Paramore takes the teenage angst on Riot! and matures their sound and songwriting. This is Pop-Punk at it's finest
Ok, Drag Queen may possibly be one of the worst openers and one of the worst tracks the band have recorded in general, but OBLIVIUS and Threat Of Joy are perfectly good songs. The Remix does not need to be on this EP either.
A lot of the reasons why I liked White Blood Cells are on this album as well. In ways, I feel the band improved, especially on certain songs (inclusion of bass, and better songwriting in general) but those changes aren't really consistent throughout the project. A little bit after the start this album REALLY drags and really made me think this album was going to be a lot worse than their previous. But after getting over this the album begins to really pick up and it's really awesome. I do feel ... read more
Cowboyy has a lot of potential, but they clearly have a long way to go from the looks of this debut EP. Don't get me wrong, the first two tracks are pretty good songs, very catchy and fun. But as soon as you get to Plastic, the EP takes a turn for the worst. It's a pretty uninteresting songs that gets boring really quickly. Algorithmic then leaves a sour taste in your mouth, with the lyrics being the biggest downfall of the song. Nothing would probably be an alright song on its own, but ... read more
this album is a lot of things, and 2 things specifically: fun and unique
this is a good album I wish British people were real
I think this album is a prime example of awesome ideas but poor execution. All of these songs feel like fragments of what could've been a game-changing dance-rock record (hence why these songs work so much better on Alive 2007, one of the best live albums ever). I always felt Daft Punk had an amazing ear for when things needed to be added and taken away, so songs wouldn't drag or feel repetitive. But this clearly wasn't the case on this album - so many of these songs are just missing so many ... read more
Holy fucking shit. I don't know how I should feel.
Even after watching the performance on YouTube, I did not think I would end up loving this album so much. The experience I just had listening to this album was unlike any other. This BC,NR is so much different than the one I first listened to - but it's still them, and I love it. Their sound has evolved so much in these past years and watching it grow is so amazing. Watching the brainchild of this group of great friends grow into some of the ... read more
I love the energy and rawness on this album. The lo-fi sound and simplicity really contributes to the record. Biggest criticism is that I feel this album could have been ordered a LOT better. The back half of this album is a lot less weaker compared to the first half.
I really like the energy on this record, but it's unable to keep my attention for the entire album, even being less than 30 minutes. Most of these songs are alright, with a few sticking out like Hate To Say I Told You So (obviously), Main Offender, and Find Another Girl but everything else sounds extremely similar. The album is very formulaic, and as a result, it's very forgettable.
It's a pretty good album, but I feel like the original reasons why I listened to and liked the Gecs is a bit more absent on this new album. This new album still has the absurdity you'll find on the first album, but I feel like it's not there at some points. On 1000 gecs, that absurdity was enjoyable and what made it entertaining, but I feel like on here sometimes the stupid stuff is genuinely just bad (One Million Dollars, Billy Knows Jamie). Whereas on 1000 gecs, the crazy, unconventional ... read more
I love the direction Paramore is going in. I hope we see more music like this from Paramore, cause they do it just as good as any of their other great albums.
This album is pretty different from Nevermind, which makes it hard to compare the two, and I don't think you should, because these albums really are two separate pieces of art that are enjoyable in their own ways. Whether I like Nevermind or In Utero better is something I'll have to think about for another day.
I love the production of this album- it's a lot grittier and heavier (thank you once again mr albini). The songs on this are a lot more diverse and I personally like the riffs better. I ... read more
It's still really good, but it's definitely too similar to Is This It. It feels a lot less cohesive and the songs are just not as insanely catchy and memorable as Is This It.
This is so unique. There are so many influences I don't know how anything would be able to fit this album exactly. Can't wait for their second album.
