Apart from the singles, and some instrumental/vocal high points, this album is just decent.
Glad I discovered this band. Love the fact that they're from New Jersey too, my home state
It's an iconic album in hip hop history. But, some of the songs on here haven't aged as well as most songs.
Compared to the other Doors records, this one is far less interesting. Still, It's not bad at all.
Already one of my favorite black midi tracks, this is so chaotic and crazy I love it. At the same time, I'm a bit disappointed that black midi is going into a similar direction as Cavalcade (Hellfire seems to be similar to Cavalcade) because I would've loved to hear them do something new. But as long as we get good music, I'm satisfied
This studio version is amazing, but the live version might possibly be one of the greatest songs of all time. The rating I would give for the live version would be 99. It's a beautiful experience, but at times I do feel that some parts drag a bit. It's worth it in the end though.
I've recently been getting into post-rock and math rock with recent bands like black midi and BN,CR. This album really lays down the groundwork for post-rock/math rock bands to come after them. This album is so ahead of it's time. And to think that these kids were only just making this in their basements.
I'm glad that 100 gecs matured a lot from their first ep to their first album. First I wanna say that the production feels a lot cheaper than 1000 gecs. The instruments and sfx they choose aren't as quality as the ones on 1000 gecs. They also don't fit as well. I also feel that at times the songs on these album feel really empty. There are things they could add to make the album feel more complete. They add a lot of random sections in songs that don't fit at all and don't work at all and don't ... read more
Wow this album has grown on me since my first listen which was a while ago
I have a feeling this album's rating is going to keep increasing for me the more I listen to it. Has to be AOTY so far. I didn't expect BC,NR to go in this direction (i haven't been listening to their live stuff or the singles) but I love it so much. You can see how much better they've gotten at writing in just one year. Sad to see Isaac leaving the band, but I guess I'm excited for what's to come.
Original rating (95)
3/19 - I no longer see the flaws of this album anymore.
i dont have any bad reviews on my profile, so lets add this one. this album is so goddamn forgettable besides the singles. honestly the singles are pretty good but the non-single tracks bring this album down so much
if we're talking about disc 1, its almost perfect. if we're talking about disc 2, its 60.
