As a hoe I'm feeling sufficiently scared.
This isn't my favorite by either one of these dudes, but god damn if it isn't amazing. We are talking about two goats of the modern era, two goats of experimental hip hop, and then they come together with some of the most chemistry of any duo ever. Danny on Peggy beats is a dream come true, and Peggy trading Bars with Danny is just as mental. Maybe one of the best albums ever when you look at it pound for pound, capitalizing on every ... read more
I'm gonna have a god damn aneurysm.
I just spent an entire hour typing out a pretty deep review for this and then my internet tripped up, page reloaded, whole thing gone. THANKS A FUCKING BUNCH CAMPUS WIFI. YOU WILL SUFFER MY WRATH ONE DAY. WHAT AM I PAYING FOR?? THIS PLACE DOESN'T GIVE ME THE ABILITY TO USE ETHERNET, IT CAN'T GET BETTER, THIS IS WHAT I'M TRAPPED WITH.
It might've been too long anyways (a thousand words if I had to spitball), but generally I ... read more
this scary critter perfectly represents the French (I am part French (💔))
anyways is this SCARING THE HOES for the alleged French people? I’m not gonna act like I understand a lick of what’s being said but I DO know that I’m vibing to this the same way I vibed to STH. The flowing seems crazy and the production is the exact type of thing I usually eat up. Without knowing who’s who all of these dudes rly kill their bars in terms of cadence, flow, and how they trade ... read more
Not quite my tempo, but beautiful and mental regardless.
I’m a big fan of trippy pop, from Cocteau Twins flavor of dream pop to tame impala’s various psychedelic tones, so this fell right in place. There’s really never a stressing moment from start to end given María’s wonderful voice and soft instrumentals and walls of sound meshing throughout it. I do like to be stressed a bit though even on my chill albums, so I left this happy but not necessarily marked by ... read more
Yin Yang ass project. The rapping is the evil, the production is the good, not being able to tell if his bars are bad because they’re unintelligible is the good within the evil, and my ears hurting after finishing this is the evil within the good.
Rage is one of few genres I will generally avoid (not my thing), but looking in from the outside his rapping feels the same as any other rage artist’s and the production is crazy good. Not gonna act like I gave this a fair chance even if ... read more
damn, y'all really fuck with the Nas tracks. so do I though...
lemme start this off by saying i'm a bit of a rap casual when it comes to history. i've heard every Danny Brown, Denzel Curry and JPEGMAFIA album, I love my modern goats, but I haven't heard the discography of any wu-tang member other than Inspectah Deck (CZARFACE included, I love that man), I've only heard Public Enemy's biggest handful of songs from Nation of Millions, and the only Mobb Deep song ... read more
Rhythmount rant OVA for now
anyways like deadass you don't need more money taylor
it's really mental to process
LET ALONE IN LESS THAN A WEEK??
i mean seriously how many times have you seen an album have so many god damn reissues
because it's really annoying how this billionaire bitch is money chasing in such a way
i mean i think im just gonna do this for each reissue
It's kinda crazy to say something I'm giving a 95 “grew off me", but it did. I used to see all the SOAD albums as equal in their perfection, and I've had to accept after more critical thought that STA doesn't necessarily stand as high. It's probably their worst on average even though it has peaks just as great as any of their other albums between Chic 'N Stu, Innervision, Boom!, Nuguns, ADD and Streamline, but more than anything it feels sort of ... read more
Underrated in their discography for sure, but I've realized the consensus that it and STA are worse than Mezmerize, Toxicity and Self-Titled is pretty true. I love this album with my soul but it doesn't have the same flawless touch or originality those three albums have despite peaking just as high. Attack, Dreaming, Hypnotize, Stealing Society, Holy Mountains and Soldier side are fucking generational, and I have a personal love for Vicinity of Obscenity as one of my first real songs ... read more
SOAD's other perfect album. I say this genuinely, this is the only album I could sing cover to cover by memory. Chop Suey! was my introduction to metal, and the reason I am the music listener I am today. I don't have a ton of words for this because I need little justification to say this, zero misses, zero skips, all perfection. Easily the greatest nu metal album of all time and SOAD's best venture into it.
SOAD at the easy peak of their powers.
This is their heaviest, most consistent, and most concise endeavor. Everything afterwards is functionally just as amazing, but I’d argue things get the slightest bit cluttered. Great for some listeners to see further varied ideas and sounds sure, but if you want a generational band at the peak of their powers, not missing a single time, this is the one.
edit
Just realized this is NOT their shortest, but I’d argue conciseness on the grounds ... read more
man can you cut it the fuck out
Really cool album that I'm probably underrating if only because I have no idea what the lyrics mean. The rapping itself is good and the production is honestly stellar at times. Clearly very quality but not necessarily what I'd usually listen to for anything other than pure vibes. I'll have to come back and bump the rating if I ever learn Japanese. The ending track is probably my favorite, really lifts the whole experience while closing it out proper.
